Can we lump in long running wars into the WoT?

Chechnya being the most topical example. Just because we can find links with Al-Qaider in support of wars which have been long-running with little western involvment or serious interest, can we just lump it all in together? I dont believe one can fight a war on a concept, but if you're going to try and define one anyway, can you start including conflicts that clearly have nothing to do with the 'clash of civilisations'.. as they are just envoking muslim sympathies? I mean.. the KLA in Kosovo recieved guns and money from similar moody extremist muslim backers, and the US turned a blind eye (as they wanted to supply them but couldnt for political reasons)... if that was after 9/11 would the Serbs be involved in the 'War on Terror' (and not simply genocide)?

okay.. put it another way... do people support Russia's occupation of Chechnya because they are fighting 'terrorism'
