everyone knows that lake effect snow is a myth. there is no such thing as lake effect snow. it's actually a targeted area of HAARP. no one likes Buffalo and the govt is trying to get the residents to leave or die there by freezing to death under tons of snow.

that's like common knowledge, duh!

In all honesty, it being the end of October I would fully expect to start seeing snow in many areas. My gf remembers trick or treating in the snow as a child in southern Ontario, Canada.

Although things may seem a little strange I wouldn't really read to much into it. Just my thoughts.

I don't think this is the end of the World

I recall once as a kid having to drive house to house on Halloween because it snowed over a foot and was freeeeezing, and that was in Ohio. I've also seen snow in June, and another memorable 4th of July where stores sold out of sweat shirts. Weird weather patterns happen .. the easiest thing to remember is that there is no "normal" weather if you look at hundred + year time spans.. crazy things happen.

Refer to it as climate change it will cover all events, global warming refers to the steady increase of mean temperatures.

That's because you watch too much TV and are on the internet too much. Unplug for awhile and you'll feel much better. I'm not trying to sound degrading or anything, really.

It all seems like it's happening at once or it's unusual, but it isn't. We just hear about it in record time. It's information overload and that's not good for our anxiety levels.

There's nothing going on. Snow before Halloween in the Northeast is not unheard of. It's not historical or anything. On Halloween 1993, we had 6 inches of snow. The little kiddies had a heck of a time bundled up in their winter coats and boots, but they had a good time anyway.

IMHO these irregular weather systems are a result of the melting caps which have contributed a negative phase of the Arctic Oscillation. During the negative phase cold arctic air is forced down towards the center of North America, whereas a positive phase AO tends to shove it aside and down past Nfld. Couple this with a negative North Atlantic Oscillation, which has reversed phases just in the past couple of days, and you have a recipe for a killer winter.

What melting caps would those be? Even NASA admitted that the ice loss was wind-driven, not because they're melting.

It is SNOWMAGGEDON!

Weather. Lots of it. Everyday. All Over The Planet.

Regardless, I am no expert........ just an opinion and a fraction of fact.

The thing that nobody ever picks up on, when these floods and snow storms etc happen...is that they have happened before. just because they may not have seen it in their lifetime, these cycles are sometimes 100 years in the making.
its like earlier this year when queensland flooded. the experts were out there saying "its climate change". but then you have people who are in their 50's and 40's saying that its not as bad as the 1967 floods. and the experts back them up with facts of flood height levels for previous events.

i guess what im trying to say...is that if you can compare it to the past.....then its bloody happened before and therefore will always happen again.

BS at its finest.

This winter in NZ, as someone mentioned earlier, we had snow falling in Auckland, for the first time in 75 years, but in lower parts of the North & South Island, we also had devasting heavy snowfalls, and in Christchurch where I live, experienced two major snow storms that practically shut our city down, and they were only a few weeks apart. What was even more unusual was that the last time we had snow in the city, it was over 17 years ago, and I believe it was the first winter where we actually experienced TWO major snow storms in one winter! "

how can you say BS at its finest.......then follow it up with the fact that it did the same 75 years ago. also....its only 17 years since you had snow in the city....that in the lifecycle of the planet, 17 years is but a mere dot in time.

i will believe in climate change when these events happen for the FIRST TIME EVER. when they cant be compared to previous events.

When you take single isolated situations happening, it never looks overly bad, but when you have multiple events happening close together, then it's a different story!

There were TWO major devastating Queensland floods (basically 100 year floods) only a several weeks apart.

There were TWO major snow storms (one in a lifetime events) in Canterbury, only a few weeks apart. ALL previous major snow storms experienced, were SINGLE events during previous winters. During one of these events in August, Auckland also experienced some snow fall. The snow in Auckland wasn't the issue...it was the TWO major snow storms in Canterbury, during on winter, that had never been experienced in our recorded history before, that I was pointing out as being highly unusal.

It's like I also mentioned all of the worldwide flooding we've experiencing this past 18 months, of which many hardly get a mention in the evening news; China, Peru, Vietnam, Poland, Portugal, France, Ukraine, Saskatchewan, Hungary, Mexico, Spain, Colombia, Indonesia, Serbia, Argentina, Kenya, Nigeria, Guatemala, Singapore, Queensland x 2, Pakistan, Thailand, India, Uganda...

Let alone the surge in hurricans, tornadoes etc etc.

Keep burying your end in in the sand, but let me suggest that you carry a SNORKEL!
