You got the money back though in the end??
WOW.

You would never have got it back had you been wrong.

You were so RIGHT though! I am very pleased at what you proved!

You proved that you were the good guy. Otherwise you would never have got that 180$ back!

Nice... I suppose it was a matter of time. Between the racist vomit I saw flowing like water out of Oakland LiveStream chat the other night by MODERATORS and this new development, I don't mind saying I'm only one step from turning my back entirely and walking away from the OWS movement. Period.

If I don't start seeing statements from OWS Camps around the country condemning THIS just as hard as the violence from police was condemned, then I AM out. I didn't join this movement to make war against Police and I sure didn't join up and put considerable time, energy and money into it so I could support a lynch mob.

I'd also remind people...that the deliberate release of the personal information for a Police Officer in the State of California IS a crime under state penal code. In THIS case, he who claims the reward might also own criminal charges following any harm which may befall this officer outside the legal system where any action against him belongs. I hope the reward is BIG....they may need that and much more for a legal defense team.

That is a nice sentiment, but I have to disagree. In oder to feel remorse, one must first have a conscience. I believe that the large majority of police are sociopaths, and some are psychopaths.

Unless sealed internal files are released, this is not relevant.
This law was designed to protect the identity of undercover officers, not to sheild cops from public actions committed in uniform.

Public information is just that...public.

I betcha he is active on at least one social network, or has his identity known in the public domain.

Secondly, if this is a criminal act, the offender just relinquished his right to protection as a LEO.

I think most people who joined the movement did not expect to go to war with the police. However, if the people you are protesting against utilize the police as a private army, what are you supposed to do? Just give up the movement because you don't want to be at odds with police? Or, do you nut-up and realize the police have chosen the side they want to protect? Make no mistake, this is a war with sides. There are police and military who are going to choose both sides, just like in the first Civil War.

This is history in the making.

People decrying the lack of direction and leadership are being too impatient. These things take time. the point is that it has started.

As one who grew up in a California law enforcement household, and had a father serving as a Police Officer in an Orange County city for 15 years...I can assure you, what I noted IS true. There are elaborate safeguards in place to prevent precisely THIS type of thing from happening. Perhaps if a reporter accidentally mentioned the addy of a cop in a human interest story about their favorite doughnut shop, nothing would even be mentioned, let alone done. However, this isn't about an innocent mistake and I can see no other reason to make this public than to encourage direct actions against the Officer and/or his FAMILY who reside at the listed address.

Oh..and God Help them if that address IS NOT the right one and action winds up directed at one of his innocent neighbors instead...no one even thinks about these things before going out and doing something so incredibly STUPID as I've just witnessed in this situation.

I, with many others, will be watching to see if OWS camps individually condemn violence or direct action against the Officer outside of the courts...and if not? Thats it for me. I hope I'm not the only one to walk away, if that turns out to be the case with silence.

Another thing, it hasn't come up yet, but to nip it in the bud.

Somebody might say, "Police have to take a personality test prior to joining. The odds that a socio- or psychopath can get in is pretty slim."

OH HO!!! You think so?

Please, you do not know me, nor have any reason to take anything I say with anything more than a grain of salt...however, I happen to know for a fact that when they want a recruit, they fudge the test. Take that for what it's worth.

It is theatrical rhetoric like this that turns me against the OWS more and more everyday.

The us vs. them mentality.

The, I have a right to (insert whatever here) mentality, the, I was born and as such deserve more mentality.

The stupid views and ideas that are posted daily on YouTube.

Now that OWS has been fully infiltrated and as has become a Leftist mob, they are loosing people by the hundreds and soon, thousands. People who once supported them.

I see these self entitled idiots rioting by next summer.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Just because you are an ex-Marine doesn't make you an angel. ie. Lee Harvey Oswald.

Whats the damn difrrence, non of those police officers tried to help the poor man after he was shot, in fact they tried to keep people away from helping him by throwning flashbangs and tear gas while he was lying critically injured on the ground. That for me makes them all guilty.

"You know, a good friend of mine overheard a guy saying that his cousin had a friend who knew that this cop had illegally downloaded some MP3s onto his iPod."

That should be enough for the FBI to start an investigation and find out who this cop is. I mean, assaulting a vet is one thing, but robbing the music industry of their justly deserved profits ... that cop would have an assault team busting down his front door in no time.

Sorry, I know I can be a little hard to follow sometimes.

Just trying to point out a bit of a double standard when it comes to possible crimes committed by LEOs vs. possible crimes committed by anyone else. Like that female cop who got two years for shooting a prone, handcuffed suspect in the back. Imagine if someone had shot a handcuffed cop in the back. Do you think they would have gotten just two years, regardless of the circumstances?

In this case, a cop shoots someone with a projectile and puts them in the hospital. What are LEOs trying to do to determine the cop's identity? Contrast that with some kid illegally downloading songs from the internet. The FBI would devote the necessary resources to determine the identity of that kid and come to his house with a SWAT team and automatic weapons.

No one should have to offer a reward for the identity of that cop. The law enforcement community should have already identified this person and given him or her a chance to explain their actions.

The assumption that they haven't or aren't doing precisely that is what I can't understand. The City of Oakland isn't making a public spectacle of it right now, but there is no way such things aren't occuring to determine what happened, and by whom. They've said as much, actually.

No department in the nation forgets Rodney King and specifically, what that incident brought about in the aftermath. This has the potential to do the same, no doubt. They just won't hold their investigations in a General Assembly for all to be a part of. That makes it an investigation, not an inquisition.

I said earlier in this thread I was only one step from just turning my back on the OWS movement entirely. Well...that isn't true anymore. I'm not one step...I'm just flat out done with it all. I have to accept that OWS neither wants nor will tolerate a right-thinking person in their midst...and other actions today coupled with material I've been running over all evening just reinforce that. I'm not a Tea Party member either..but I relate FAR closer to them than I do with what I'm reading on signs, tweets and chat rooms run within the OWS movement.

It's with a heavy and sad heart I walk away...but far from condemning the idea of violence against this officer, I've been reading tweets and other statements supporting 'direct action'. This represents lines crossed I cannot follow, regardless of the cause or my agreement with SOME of what the movement wants. Unlike some, I DO shave on a regular basis and I have to gaze upon my own mug in the mirror. I can't do that if I'm setting aside everything I believe in basic right and wrong......

Sorry OWS, enough camps have spoken, and I just can't relate to or be any part of this, anymore.

If those were actual citizens, every one of them would be charged with a crime, even though only one actually committed a crime. Guilt by association. Every one of those cops who did nothing to stop this, is just as guilty as the one who fired the round.

Oh, but wait! I keep forgetting that police don't have to follow the law, they just kinda sorta enforce the laws.

Okay, that kind of garbage has to stop. This isn't a reward, it's a BOUNTY! How does anyone think this will go down right now if that Officer's name, bio and home address are discovered and made public?? Do we really think the gentle and peace loving people of Oakland will just drop by for a firm talking to and hand slap? Oh jeeze... The people offering these bounties don't even seem to GRASP what it looks like to the rest of the nation, not IN the OWS movement....or like me, some that ARE in it.

Well spoken. My experience has taught me that the people calling for vengeance, telling others to shoot, don't have the courage or the maturity to deal with the solution themselves. I see a lot of socially challenged , selfish and clueless people who, for whatever reason just don't like the cops.

How do you tell someone to get real when they've surrounded themselves in illusions ? To them, these illusions are reality. All of the writing in the world isn't going to change them. They actually believe they know what's going on.

Reality always wins out. These people are going to be standing there with their fingers up their agendas when it finally dawns on them. But how much grief and destruction will they have caused by then ? And what will they say then ? "Gee, I'm sorry, I really didn't know...."

The bigger problem to democracy in America is not the protesters or those who oppose them, it's the self -imposed IGNORANCE that seems to have become the trademark of the "knee jerk reaction culture" that has grown up in this country.

This officer will never be held liable because a Court could never prove he intended to hit the Marine in the head.

He aimed "in the general area". Police Officers are allowed to throw/shoot explosives flash bangs right where humans are....to disperse them.

The Supreme Court ruled long ago Police Officers are not liable to protect 1 person.....only "Society as a whole".

Just as a Marine isn't liable when he's ordered to use force...isn't liable.

I thought the Communist sign held up before the explosives were launched was neat. They want Communism.....BOOM!.....you got it.

Only difference between Democrats and Communists is Communists use FORCE. They got what they were asking for.
