Maybe you should get out more...

Why the hell put that in a video game...most of them don't care about the real world.

As someone who's played thru BF3, Iran isn't really the "enemy", yeah, early on you're fighting an Iranian terrorist group, the PLR (people's liberation resistance, I believe), but they're being "used" by the REAL enemy (dun dun DUN!). The real threat is an old familiar one, that has been the focus of many a modern war fps plot-line. You get to shoot at French coppers, Russians, AND American soldiers, too. The Iranians are a very small part of the game's plot.

oh look, its from the same company who supported obama's campaign by placing ads and billboards in their games..

go figure...

but the thing is widespread, look at the adverts for the competing shooting game for bf3..

on 8-11-11 its not mw3, its ww3.

genius marketing or social conditioning? both as marketing and brainwashing have little diference.

and whoever said games who involve killing americans arent as successfull must have forgotten about gta

one totally has to scream allahu akbar when running over a ton of virtual american citizens

still in the end, its only pixels and if wars and violence were exclusive to videogames we would be alright.

GTA was a nice one.

Let's not kid ourselves, gaming is part of the media industry and it's growing way too fast. It should be also obvious to anyone that how the media can easily and smoothly manipulate our view of the world.

On a side note, there's a new tendency (or you could say persistence) to call the country 'Iran' instead of Persia, and even call the language Persian (pronounced Pârsi in its native tongue) as Farsi (the way arabs pronounce it)

It's definitely easier to see 'Iran' as just another 'Iraq' with one little tiny variation in name and ignore all the huge cultural and geographical differences.

In BF3 a made up paramilitary group, PLA? PL something, has brought about a military Coup in Iran, hence you start off in Iraq fighting those baddies as they spill over from Iran into Iraq. And, if you don't want a spoiler stop reading here, you are again dealing with Russians just like every other modern combat game to date, albeit a little different twist on this one.

It's quite simple, currently Iran and any other nation of brown people in the middle east is "the enemy" while Russia is always lurking in the shadows. The game is trying to be current, much like CoD modern warfare, but no one complained about that. It's a game.

Sure, for the weak minded it might work as a propaganda arm, but really, who decides their world view based on a video game? Propaganda stops working once you understand it's existence. This "propaganda" if anything is telling you Iran isn't the enemy.

The game is great, single player does feel like a different game and isn't as "gripping" as the CoD series single player, but it is intense, action packed, and tough. Multiplayer is what this game is about, and it shines brighter than the sun on that front, and MW3 has some heavy lifting to do if they expect to bring back anyone who might have converted to BF3, I love me some CoD but it can't touch battlefield, never has, never will.

Frostbite 2 is the engine you want if you are into fps. Actually, need for speed the run is on frostbite 2 as well, and it shows.

Even on the console BF3 plays great. Yes, it's capped at 30fps. Your eye can't see past 27fps so it doesn't matter, it rarely dips down below that so it plays smooth, very very smooth. On the consoles, and even on pc with everything turned to low, it looks sharp, just fantastic, the lighting engine is superb. If you have a crappy video card, be prepared for some shadows that look horrible.

The player motions are fantastic in single player and multiplayer, you really feel like these are people not just robots. The voip on ps3 during the beta was crap and cuts out constantly. Pc, from what I read, supports no viop directly so you'll have to use a 3rd party voip and with the squads and match making, might not play like you want.

If you have a high end, I mean HIGH end, rig, BF3 is the nicest looking game you'll find. But don't be fooled into thinking the console versions are crap. the ps3 version is merely lacking antialiasing, extremely large textures, and anostropic filtering.

They limited the consoles to 24 player online matches (no split screen) and "reduced" some of the map sizes. They merely moved spawn points in and removed some out lying objectives from conquest mode.

If you intend to get it for your xbox 360 make sure you have a hard drive and that you install the HD texture pack, or your game will look like an N64 game. These textures are optional for xbox, but automatically installed on pc or ps3.

The redudctionism is funny. I find there is plenty of this conditioning in video games, just like all other forms of entertainment and media. Its there, its blatant, and to compare a blockbuster like BF3 in modern times to the likes of tetris predicting whatever is just .. Funny. The other part to the BF3 story is the Germans boycottibg due to some suspected spyware ..
I just got the game, I love games, for now. However the increasing hoops and registration and cross referencing your DNA just to save a game is just. Bah!
Its a game, just a game, however it can have a definite impact on young unguided and impressionable minds.

Did you say brown people? Do these faces look like brown to you?

A few points I noticed:

1) It's interesting that all the vehicles in Iran or driven by the foes have lebanese license plates with lebanese FLAGS! A schoolkid would know what the world flags are, especially with current events...are they trying to mix in the message with Hezbollah in the pic or what?
2) Since when do women in Iran wear Ninja outfits! - Fact is, they don't.
3) Arabic words in Iran? Total misrepresentation.
4) why are the russian faces all covered up in multiplayer, whereas the US models have uncovered faces? (that btw is a common tactic previously and obviously also currently used to alienate enemy forces or reduce the humanity of enemies, whichever way you want to call it.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this game is partly sponsored by the US military...

Overall? I don;t know feels like a subtle brainwash - especially towards the younger gamers or other gamers who may nto be well versed with world geography

Apart from that, I think the game is alright. Single player has nice visuals. Though I wanted the game for its MP, i was a little bit dissappointed only to find out that this game just turned out to be like Bad Company jsut with bigger maps (of course there are other additions too) but it has that "arcade feeling" to it which only the Bad Company series has (as well as COD) - not to mention that we can;t host our own servers...so when the servers die, the game dies. Anyway, enough bitching. Happy gaming.

I would play space marine instead. Most "Mulitary" shooters where factions are seldome more than 50m apart, are counter strike in drag.
