Hi all,

I came across this and thought I would share it with you all at ATS.

An attack on Fox News from the hacker group Anonymous has been a longtime coming. Now the collective says that an infiltration on the website for the Fair and Balanced news network will occur next month with Operation Fox Hunt slated for November 5.

News Article

Here is the video...

All we can do is wait and see whether this actually happens. I've always despised Fox news, but if I could play Devil's Advocate for a moment... Anonymous has been about free speech and against censorship. Couldn't it be argued that there's some hypocrisy in their actions? ...Just a thought.

Personally, I really dislike Fox News and their reporters who seem to suffer from verbal diarrhoea.

Anyway, let's hear your thoughts!

Peace

Well, V for Vendetta, November 5th, Anonymous, Fox - all fits.

Think they'll do anybetter than the split second that managed to get the stock market (wall street web page actually) offline?

Heck, chances are they'll manage to shut down Fox for the whole one second they say something positive about Ron Paul for a change.

... I can't believe I missed the November 5/ Guy Fawkes significance!

Has anyone seen They Live? The TV station goes down and the masses wake up and see the world for what it is.

That would be awesome...

Yes, some of the claim to be fighting to protect those rights, but by their very actions are actually endangering those rights and making it easier for the government to pass restrictive legislation.

Which is why a good chunk of us view anon, or at least parts of it, to be in fact, working for the government.

Unless you can explain to me how stealing my PSN account info and credit card number and selling that on the internet is protecting my rights.

Because I view that as a method to help restrict internet access and remove any anonymity from it, because if we allow these people to congregate, unmonitored, on the internet and commit crimes anonymously, it's a thread to national security.

It's not a coincidence that at the time of anon getting into the lime light that most media was reporting on the dangers of hackers hacking into power planets and other systems and the immense damage that could cause.

(which is pure fantasy as NONE of those essential systems are connected to the internet as with stuxnet you need a man on the inside to place the hack tool)

I'm with you, Phishy.. This whole Anon thing-- would be great if they were "for the people by the people" type stuff, but as usual we have been deceived yet again, I believe.

Exactly what I was thinking. When they make threats and then can't/ don't follow through, they lose credibility. They'd be better off if they didn't announce their plans ahead of time, they should let their actions (if any!) speak for them.

Yup but I wouldn't paint all of them with that brush, I fully support them busting that darknet pedophile site, but I find that at odds with some of the other stuff they are doing.

And facebook, yes, facebook. Facebook and twitter are what is allowing OWS to function, it helped many of the "arab spring" revolutions, yet these guys want to take the site down?

Who exactly are they protecting?

the one thing I've learned from years, decades, of experience online, on irc, on the "darknet" hidden sites is this:

If they are announcing they intend to attack website A they already have the proof of concept hack completed and have already gained access to the systems they intend to "hack".

That said, I expect a DDoS attack. Possibly using the newly popular SSL renegotiation attack. A site hack and defacement is also a possibility but that's child's play and really gets nothing done, but a concerted DDoS (using unwittingly hacked computers of course) will knock the site right off the net.

So yeah, anon is totally protecting my rights by giving the government justifications for removing my rights. Selling my credit card info online is protecting my rights. Hacking facebook to disable any coordination efforts via that medium is protecting my rights. Hacking my computer, infecting it with malware, and using it to attack other sites is protecting my rights.

SHENANIGANS!

When anything is said or done anonymously, anyone can come along at a later time and claim credit for it, or deny a connection to it.

It is a word.
It is not a secret society.

I screamed at the obvious bias in all Network news until Fox news finally gave a voice to my POV.

They are the only news channel (which I still scream at occasionally) that stands on their own.

Like America is the only place in the world we do it like we do.

It doesn't matter that the American socialists can expatriate to any of their versions of utopia in the world. It doesn't matter that there isn't anywhere in the world to go if you're an American capitalist. These bottom feeders want to change the system that rose above every other system on the planet.

So why would it matter to these same bottom feeders that there are plenty of news outlets to satisfy them. DESTROY fox news! Who do they think they are?

Proof of this warped mindset can be seen against Rush Limbaugh too for example. He didn't rise to the top for any other reason than his reaction to the "news" from a political, philosophical point of view is one that his fans held without him. He voices our own thought process in way that isn't heard anywhere else.

Fox has been on top the last ten years for a reason.

I doubt Anon will be able to do anything to Fox News..

However, if they do.. you won't see me batting an eyelash over it...

I'll probably celebrate hahaha.

"Remember remember the 5th of November, gunpowder treason and plot. I see of no reason the gunpowder treason should ever be forgot."

Couldn't resist..

If you're a fan of lobbied, warped and distorted corporate farce such as Fox news then fair enough, but I think people are actually sick of it.

Corporate controlled media will never go for truth.

I hope anon tears it to pieces. You can call them bottom feeders or ungrateful or anti-American, but you're only kidding yourself.
