I notice there is no longer a correlation between the price of crude oil and gasoline. Regardless, gas either stays the same price or just continues to go up. Occupy big oil. Slimy bastards are destroying the planet and continuing to reap record profits.

People you do know that the more people competing to bring a good to market that would reduce that cost on the end user. Government rules and regulation's have all but made competition impossible anymore.

I personally do not have a problem for big oil to make a profit they are taking all the risk and have to build and cleanup after wells run dry whereas the only risk we take is driving to the pump and pressing that button.

Sure go ahead and kill government subsization of big oil not a fan of it myself but the only thing that is going to happen is they pass the cost off to you.

Big oil are multinational corporations which mean's their "profit's" come from other part's of the world which are untouchable by the US Government the solution here would to be.

End governtment subsidies and and a 100 percent tax credit or a formula that would balance out the income held off shore to how much the government subsidy is.

The effect there self subsidization.

Big oil is not evil just like anyone and any other business trying to survive in a every increasing hostile environment the biggest enemies to Big Oil isn't running out of oil but the government and the EPA.

People already know the pain of the pump imagine the pain without that pump completely.

Ideally, yes. But what do you suggest we do at this current time? Complete deregulation? Competing to bring goods into a market will in fact lower the costs and even out the field if and only if there is equal ground among current competitors (or at least within reason). In our current climate those with the most "goods" and most money will simply monopolize the rest by elimination or consolidation. Some regulation is needed at this point in time to even out the field; what needs to be elimated is lobbying and campaign contributions along with regulations that favors one company or corporation over another (look to Exxon, GE, Goldman Sachs as examples).

A simplified version of what I am trying to get across is in the game of monopoly there is a chance for any person to gain money, but in order for that to happen everyone would need to start from square one (there are exceptions to the rule of course but that is generally speaking). If you start out with no properties and just a wage (200 pass go) and someone has properties, hotels and utilities etc in addition to wages you will lose. Even if you can find some way to borrow money from the person with properties (at interest), they will always have an unfair advantage with the ability to crush you at any given time. But who are we kidding here the purpose of the game of monopoly is to bankrupt the other person, just like the point of true capitalism is to acquire capital. Capital is a finite resource (even though imagined) that is based on energy resources and work labor so by definition in order to be successful you need to acquire more of it which means someone else loses out. True capitalism does not work IMO just like true communism does not work.

Nothing to see here folks - just big oil companies making huge profits during a recession by cheating and stealing our hard earned money by telling us that [insert BS reason here].

And just to note, these "charity programmes" set up by these big Multinationals are just a cover to make them appear "philanthropic".
I seriously doubt even 10% of the money to charity you give, will even reach a poor person in a country deprived BY THESE MULTINATONALS in the first place!

Better to give to charity directly, rather than trusting these big thieving Multinationals to do it for you.

At close to $4 a gallon it's not suprising. Why is it every time the price of crude goes up the price of gas goes up almost the same day... Yet if it goes down the price stays the same. My roommates 3 year old son could see the problem there. I would love to have a little sit down with these dirt bags and tell them what I really think with the back of my hand.

because PEOPLE keep right on paying without negotiating.

get a group of friends to go to a gas station at the same time,

park at the pumps,

go in and ask for a cheaper price from the owner.

If the owner ain't there, just say "we will wait".

the price is always based on what YOU will pay.

I would but I have a severe neck injury that precludes me from doing much work on it.
I fixed my own cars for 35 years.
I'm sure not going to pay twice that to go to the dealership.
