scotlands referendum on indepenence

I will be sad if Scotland breaks away from the Uk considering how many scots in history moved down to England. I can foresee a new Hadrians wall being built as I have no doubt the UK government will want stringent Border controls. Having to show your passport to cross into scotland and vice versa I think a lot of people might regret Scotland breaking away.

I don't know much about this but here's the story:

www.telegraph.co.uk...

and here's a quote from the story I liked:

"The Prime Minister should hear this loud and clear. The people of Scotland - the sovereign people of Scotland - are now in the driving seat."

You go each and every sovereign one of you!

Sounds like the Scotts will need William Wallace again cause there is gonna be blood spilled if the SNP continues on this path. Why now during all the worlds upheavals
i have friends in the UK and Scotland I would hate to see an all out war between the two. Who would the US support? I do feel the Scots have a right of independence but at what cost are they really oppressed by the UK?

I think deep down the Scots know what side their bread is buttered and wont be in any hurry to disband from the UK any time soon.

The sad thing about this is the negative scare tactics from the UK government

The real reason that the UK government don't want Scotland to leave the union is the vast oil revenues that Scotland generates . Scotland also has a large % of Europe's Wind/Tidal reserves

Labour & Tory Parties have for far too long denied the people of Scotland the chance to choose the future of the country , Just as they are now trying to block the people in the UK the chance to vote on Europe ...

Independence cant come quick enough for me

To reply to the comments above

THERE WILL BE NO WAR BETWEEN SCOTLAND AND ENGLAND , Thats just being overly dramatic

We are having our resources stolen from us and being forced to spend OUR money on Illegal Wars , Trident and paying for mistakes the UK government made putting the country in MASSIVE debt

Also

In what way is Scotland's bread buttered ? . Scotland pays more money into the UK coffers than it receives back , Scotland Oil will soon account for almost 20% of ALL UK Corporation tax

not bad for a country with a population less than that of London

Yet Scotland has a dwindling population, with low birth rates and an aging society, who is going to be able to pay for all those pensions and nursing homes not to mention all the other stuff you guys get for "free" subsidized by the English. I think we are better off sticking together. You can talk about the oil, but it's the oil companies who profit from the oil, not the Scottish people.

I wouldn't be so sure when oil is involved people tend to die lately.

The Oil companies pay Corporation Tax , £13.4 Billion alone this year paid to the UK GOVERNMENT

Dwindling population ? Scotland's population is actually growing

Free stuff subsidized by the English ? Again .. We pay more in to the UK pot than we get back out so we actually subsidize England to an extent .

Any more myths or scaremongering ?

Calm down, people.

Scotland's not going to be leaving the UK. It's just political rhetoric from the SNP.

Even if they did have a referendum on independence, then polls show that the majority of Scots want to remain as part of the union.

The SNP's increasing support in Scotland is exaggerated by the fact that they are holding the ground which Old Labour used to cover. Many Scots vote for them because of their social policies, rather than their stance on Scottish nationalism.

A variety of polls have consistently shown support for Scottish independence between the 20-30% mark.

The majority of Scots want to remain within the union, and there would have to be some monumentally seismic event for this feeling to change anytime soon.

Could the border be drawn from the Humber across to the Mersey? I'd rather be part of Scotland than England. A fresh start with a new of politicians might prove a good start.

Has anyone ever asked if the English wish to become independant?

If we did start asking for it we would soon be slapped down by the other UK members. Other members that I see no support from when asking for an English parliment that deals with English issues. The only member of the UK denied it.

Recent polls show more people for independence than against , Still a lot of undecided people out there tho

I think it will help our cause with the SNP showing sensible steady decisions whilst in Government , Scotland has Lower Employment , Higher Employment , The lowest crime rates since the early 80s and Scotland now at the forefront of renewable energy development.

What you have to remember that the SNP got a majority government in a voting system that was designed to make sure that NEVER happened such was the support for them .

The referendum vote will be a three question ballot . Yes No or Full Fiscal autonomy .

If we take so much from the UK then why is Cameron & Milliband so keen to fight against us leaving ?
