Irish priest prays for "Gadafy"

www.irishtimes.com

FORMER LIBYAN dictator Muammar Gadafy was prayed for at Mass in a Donegal church, it has emerged.

The prayers were said on Sunday in St Eunan’s Church, Raphoe, by parish priest Fr Dinny McGettigan (72).

The popular priest surprised parishioners when he was praying for local people who had recently died.

The last name he read out was that of Muammar Gadafy.

I guess everyone must be prayed for ! During catholic mass here in Ireland prays are said for those who have died locally. While I agree that everyone that died should be prayed for and that the more 'evil' the person the more prayers are need I don't think that Libya could be considered local to a small town in the Northwest of Ireland.

I love the way the paper has misspelled Gaddafi ... it makes him sound Irish.

Wasn't Gaddafi alleged to have supplied the IRA with weapons?
Ironic as now the almost bankrupt Irish are being bailed out by the evil English.

There will always remain a number of sympathisers anywhere, but particularly in Ireland. Obviously we know that MG supplied weapons and ammunition for the Ra in the 70s and 80s, and a lot of people won't forget that.

This priest was trying to do his duty.

But I have to ask the people of Ireland - would this priest have prayed for Hitler?

And I also have to ask the Roman Catholic church this question - why would you require a priest of yours to pray for a mass murderer who is already in hell?

Come on, people, get free of brain-washing and make up your own minds.

There is over 100 ways to spell his name. It is due to it been translated from Arabic.

He signed his own name in english as Moammar El-Gadhafi.

Its funny how you would think you are spelling it right and a newspaper has it wrong. Its hard to get it wrong as there is so many variations.

I think there is quite a difference between Hitler and Gadhafi as much as the msm would like you to believe they are much the same.

I dont see a problem with someone offering up a prayer for an old man who was dragged around, beaten and got a bullet in the head while begging for his life with the world watching on .

I want no part of a planet like this. Everyone who watched this man murdered on TV or on the internet is a witness to murder.

If people have wronged , you do not make it right with another wrong.

dont forget sodomised with a knife or baton.

while his enemies screamed glory to god as they dragged him away to execution.

a little prayer for his rest might be in order. if you believe in that kind of thing

Ok, Johnny,

Let us get real here.

Gaddhaffi betrayed his own people, he murdered and tortured, he had his troops open fire on innocent protesters.

The man was evil, and now he is gone.

Sometimes we have to get real about people - this man was totally evil.

So ask your priest about that.

Not unusual for Christians to pray for lost souls. Christ said to pray for your enemies. No matter what the situation harboring negative thoughts or hate towards even those who deserve it is counter intuitive to Christ's teachings. "Not 7 times but rather 77 times." or 777 i guess in the case of Gadafi

Well.

I am glad you don't have a priest, Johny.

Also, do not get a preacher or someone who says they know what you need .

They do not.

I really don't know what to think of Gahafi. He did alot for Libya over the last 4decades. He also committed crimes.

Everything is twisted now. Its almost impossible to figure out what was really going on. Its getting like this with a lot of things these days.

Anyway, I am not on a mission to defend Gadhafi. I never said the man is not guilty of crimes. I said I don't see any problem with someone offering up a prayer for another dead person.

I am simply saying this is not how justice should be dispatched. This is the message sent around the world to the masses. Vegenence is good.

You judge this man as 'totally evil'. I will not judge him.

If he is totally evil what about all the governments who did business with him for the last 40years. What does that make them?

Johny,

All you have to do is get a strongly good thing in this world.

I am a believer in Jesus, which I find helps.

But if you don't want Jesus, you can have Buddha, or a great angel.

Just ask for the good of this universe to come to you.

let me know if this is real enough; www.dailymail.co.uk...

have a look at the pictures in this article and tell me you can condone something like that.

and then you have what happens now Gadhafi is disposed of:

"A human rights groups says it has discovered 53 decomposing bodies, apparently of Moammar Gaddafi loyalists, some of whom may have been executed by revolutionary forces.

The New York-based Human Rights Watch said today that the discovery in Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte 'seems part of a trend of killings, looting and other abuses committed by anti-Gaddafi fighters who consider themselves above the law.'

I think it is unhealthy and inhuman to glorify death. Everyone's death is a tragedy and sometimes it is more a tragedy they lived and breathed at all - but when you glorify a murder or even a death it is no longer about the deceased. It becomes about YOU and what kind of person you are. I applaud the Priest who led by example and did not let politics take front seat to his faith in the wonder and ways of the Lord.

Really? You are comparing Gaddafi to Hilter? Come on now thats a bit of a stretch isn't it?

And why do people reference Hitler as the number evil man that every lived? He was sick without a doubt and committed terrible atrocities to be committed, but there where many other people that were on his level or beyond it. Stalin killed 5x the amount of people that Hilter did. The Pope that called the crusades and the church that allow the inquisitions come to mind. The genocide of Darfur, the natives of Americas. Genghis Khan killed 100,000 of thousands and raped and pillaged all in the name of conquering. Alex the great did the same. I mean human history has a long genocidal maniacs, why does everyone focus on Hilter?

You have some proof of this I assume other than msm hearsay and disinfo?

Perhaps he was following the US example in shooting protesters?

Source

In 1932, approximately 80 years ago, 43,000 marchers (17,000 veterans) descended upon Washington D.C. The Bonus Expeditionary Force, also known as the “Bonus Army”, marched on Washington to advocate the passage of the “soldier’s bonus” for service during World War I. They set up a camp with tents to bring attention to their cause. After Congress adjourned, bonus marchers remained in the city and became unruly. On July 28, 1932, two bonus marchers were shot by police, causing the entire mob to become hostile and riotous. The government turned the U.S. military upon its citizens. Army cavalry units led by General Douglas MacArthur dispersed the Bonus Army by riding through it and using gas. Fifty five veterans were injured and 135 were arrested. Critics of the marchers described them as communists, troublemakers, and criminals.

And of course they were branded as communists. Typically American statement.

Wait until they start shooting at the most recent tent city dwellers. They too will be communists.
