Compton electrons do sound somewhat scary. Do they all tote guns and listen to Snoop Dogg? Crip or Blood?

Dr. Paul LaViolette's Galactic Super Wave Theory

Dr. Paul LaViolette has developed a theory that seems to explain many aspects of the "doomsday" scenario.

Glazed donuts on the Moon
the surface had been zapped rather than slow-cooked. And the likely source of this zap was our Sun.
a large solar flare or coronal mass ejection (CME) this fireball of radiation would become magnetically entrapped in the Earth's magnetosphere, allowing the Moon and Earth to be exposed for a duration of time long enough to really "flash bake" their surfaces.

Ancient warnings from past experience
'And this is the Ninth and Last Sign: You will hear of a dwelling-place in the heavens, above the earth, that shall fall with a great crash.' -- Hopi
"When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood... -- Revelations 6:12

LaViolette's conclusion
there is a 90% chance that a superwave will arrive in the next four centuries. I cannot rule out the possibility that one might arrive around the time of the Mayan calendar end date of 2012,

Leaving a TV or a radio on didn't make sense to me ... before ... but ... they are both electronics.

Well first look at your source. David Icke is not a credible source and anyone posting anything in his network should be viewed as unreliable, because they are all clearly insane.

An EMP will damage circuit boards, overloading and frying them. anything with a microchip would be disabled. A transitor radio or epic old analog tv, would survive just fine.

the power grid that supplies power to these devices wouldn't, but any batteries you might have, or even a generator, should be fine.

I am trying to understand how being indoors for three days will keep us safe. What is it (the glass in our windows and the fabric of the curtains) keeping us safe from?

Because the uninformed idiot that posted that on David Ickes site is clearly clueless and for some reason believes a CME or X class flare would completely destroy our ozone layer, and I guess the magnetosphere too, giving you no protection from the sun and high doses of radiation and even gamma rays.

This is of course absurd, but it sure sounds scarey.

Many of the scientists in here have a PhD in Googling and shouting Hoax! (combined studies, part residential - must provide own armchair, part research)
It's a severe study programme, I hear.
Even more difficult than the MPhil (Res) in Geopolitical Commentary held by many of the Bomb (insert country here) crowd.

This isn't that much of a threat. There was a large CME yesterday:

A coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth on Oct. 24th at approximately 1800 UT (2:00 pm EDT). The impact strongly compressed Earth's magnetic field, directly exposing geosynchronous satellites to solar wind plasma, and sparked an intense geomagnetic storm. As night fell over North America, auroras spilled across the Canadian border into the contiguous United States

There is still a 20% chance of an M-class flare but I would be suprised if an M-flare done much more than cause auroras.

I think this is regarding america BECAUSE, it is american news for americans, right? whoever said something about why is it always america, because it is american news, i am most sure your country and other countries have their doomsday news and it reflects your or their countries right? That said.

I hope i am one of the survivors, I have been stock piling foods, taking all my monies out of the banks and financial institutions, have my silver and gold, im ready I just hope im indoors if it ever did happen. Less people on the planet, maybe earth wolld recover from the pest called human.

Do any of you think this may be related to the "strange noises" people have been hearing? Who is this Phage?

Phage is the most worshipped man on ATS. People idolize him. "Oh, Phage where art thou" "Please Phage come save us" "Phage will you marry me". That's what I usually hear.

I bow to no man.

Why would the population need to drop for people to survive. Only a handfull will know how to build a fire? We are smart and we are strong and if this did occur we would rebuild rapidly. No need for anyone to die.

well yea i believe Phage always/often reiterates:

- geomagnetic storms don't affect power grids nor electronics

- if it aint class X-class, no need for concern.

problem with that? not the only thing going on. why are large fireballs, meteors and satellites falling out of the sky these day seems everyday?

why are we experience Northern Lights in several regions of the world even New York State despite all its light pollution?

heck, where is Phage these days anyways? Himalaya bunker?

Not sure where you are from but using new york state as bad light pollution is a pretty lousy assumption. Perhaps you ment new york city? As I happen to live in NYS and have little problem with light pollution where I live, and we usually do get to see the northern lights whenever the lakes don't ruin it by clouding up.

From one native New Yorker to another. Everyone outside of the state thinks that NYC is it. Its all city. They dont realize that NYC is about a 10th of the area of the the state and that the rest is country side and mountains and lakes. NY state is a great little secret. Don't let the cat out of the bag.
Some of the best star gazing I have done has been in upstate NY on a warm summer evening. Lay out on the lawn and look up. We use a strong flashlight to point out the constellations to the kids.
