If your are referring to diamondsmith's post that was in respect of a prediction that something would happen off the coast of Turkey that was made a couple of days earlier, not to today's event.

over my dead body is this thread getting closed PM is awesome with this stuff . way better then i am and hes right , we can look for a high death toll as bbc is reporting that a lot of houses , etc have collapsted .

i was working when it hit . but am taking an hour break to talk about this quake ....

www.bbc.co.uk...

The quake struck at 13:41 (10:41 GMT), some 19km (12 miles) north-east of the city of Van. The extent of any damage or injuries is not yet known, although Turkey's Anatolia news agency reports that several houses have collapsed.

and i will follow this story closely thoughout the day and the week .

i dont want to scare mongul about this but there are three volcanoes within a 40 miles radius of this quake just thought to inform you all .

hisz.rsoe.hu...

Turkey Tendrek Dagi Shield volcano 37.48 km Turkey Sphan Dagi Stratovolcano 35.71 km Turkey Girekol Unknown 22.87 km

the last one is unknown about what kind of volcano it is and no recent eruptions at any of them...
and also i find this information equally important and relevent .

diamondsmith said the Dodecanese Islands, which are off the west coast of Turkey abou 873 miles form the current event.

As Mike said, I am not sure that I would claim that as a hit.

We will see however as diamondsmith says this is just a foreshock to a larger one.

USGS have more tensor information, still coming in a 7.2 Mw

USGS WPhase Moment Solution

MW 7.2

Depth 11 No. of sta: 89
Moment Tensor; Scale 10**19 Nm
Mrr= 5.09 Mtt=-5.75
Mpp= 0.66 Mrt=-4.00
Mrp=-3.80 Mtp=-0.45
Principal axes:

Best Double Couple:Mo=7.8*10**19
NP1:Strike=108 Dip=30 Slip= 133
NP2: 240 69 68

No phase data or travel times yet. My feeling is still that this could go down further below 7.2 and I am saying they will downgrade possibly to 6.9 (Keeps it out of the 'bad' figures
)

ETA: Confirmed as 7.2 now on the USGS site

In order to calm the waters and give due credit to the member who by speed of input got their thread up three minutes before mine I would ask you please to continue posting on that thread as I have no wish to upset anyone over such a small issue.

Please use Dalke07's thread on this subject

Mods please close this thread.

I have been viewing The Extinction Protocol website lately. A lot of focus on geomagnetic activity there. Makes me consider Clif High's Expando Planet theory. Our Earth has activity all over the place, with particular attention to the ring of fire. Despite our increased ability to gain current events via the web, one cannot argue the status of activity globally, both earthquake and volcano. I have seen it shown that seismic activity is decreasing while increasing in magnitude. The expando planet theory suggests our molten core is subject to response from incoming blasts from the sunspots(if I am not mistaken). Anyone feel free to correct me as I am winging it here. I suggest the question of increased solar activity as we head towards a solar maximum that in turn results in more geomagnetic activity. I suggest this because we should also ponder something greater than all of us bringing ourselves to care for each other in a more humane way. I know, it's a stretch. Should we be faced with something that will be global I hope we'll do the right thing as humans and pull our way through. The bankers and politicians may be the least of our worries. We should be collectively reexamining they way we do everything. Just ask someone from Fukushima. I guess the same would apply to anyone in an area where bombs and bullets make noise regularly. The Web Bot suggests an interesting year from now until early 2013. I'm not proclaiming it to be so, but merely putting the talk out there for response. One can call my suggestions bunk if they'd like but only time will tell.Things around us should take an interesting enough turn of paths even if we leave out the activity to terraferma from the Universe.
