In other words, things would be like they were when Noah was alive and preparing for the flood...So, can we expect that men will be living to nearly 1000 years old prior to the end? Would this be a sign?edit on 20-10-2011 by jeichelberg because: misspelling in the title of the thread
Men did what was right in their own eyes instead of following the authority of God. This is what it refers to. All forms of unrighteousness take place today. The love of many wax cold. Brother against brother. These verses you refer to have nothing to do with a loophole you perceive in God's plan. This amounts to an accusation against God and pride, placing the self over the one who created reality. There is no higher truth than God produces from infinity. It is pointless to think our finite minds are a match for God.

You mistake my post for an accusation, when in fact it was a legitimate question concerning the meaning of the words...I am unsure if the, "days of Noah," portion could be specifically parsed to exclude certain portions of the circumstances...How is it only specific similarities to the, "days of Noah," would suffice as evidence and not the rest? "As in the days of Noah," would seem (at least to me) all of the characteristics and not just some cherry picked portions...I do not think God would set us up with loopholes...Loopholes is cherry picking...God knows our capabilities and inadequacies...edit on 21-10-2011 by jeichelberg because: Clarity of responseedit on 21-10-2011 by jeichelberg because: Clarity of response
Eh - while I'm inclined to agree, it's possible the interpretation lies in how many years were to elapse from the time this statement was made and the time of the flood.

However, in 1930, Professor Wu Chung-chieh of the University of Chengdu discovered Imperial Chinese government records from 1827, congratulating one Li Ching-Yuen on his 150th birthday, and further documents later congratulating him on his 200th birthday in 1877. In 1928, a New York Times correspondent wrote that many of the old men in Li's neighborhood asserted that their grandfathers knew him when they were boys, and that he at that time was a grown man.
Her remarkable age came to light during a census in Karaganda in northern Kazakhstan. Demographers were astonished to find that she was also on Stalin's first census of the region in 1926 when her age was given as 47.

Jesus explains the phrase by pointing out that people were continuing to live normal lives until the Flood took them by surprise.
