You don't have to pray in a closet to talk to God. He says pray without ceasing. Too many think you have to go to God a certain way. Just talk to him.

Actually it says pray in private...

That was directed to those people who felt like they have to pray openly in the streets.
Touche my friend...

Though i still believe it to be true

Of course, you should see how many prayers are openly said on Facebook. Like God will hear them better via status update.

The 1000 yr. reign is only for those who chose to accept God during the tribulation period. This will be your test to see if you are pure in your desires. Satan won't be allowed to influence, just you and your own mind. 1000 yrs. Is good enough to test where your heart is.

Also, it may sound like science fiction, but it is what was there. A lot of the bible sounds like science fiction to many.

Just as the sun is suspended to man's eyes, its not actually suspended at all, but is controlled.

Well thats all well and good but what about the billions of people from the past? will they have a 1000 year oppourtunity to show their true colours? or does all of this happen after death in this world.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a non-believer. I believe in god, Heaven and hell and most of the rest of it, but what it all ACTUALLY means is way beyound the ken of any human alive.
Lets be honest with ourselves. All of the biblical text's in the world describe a lot of things but they never explain how this is possible within the framework of the universe we currently inhabit. The truth is that no one knows exactly what to expect. This is a "just do your best and everything will turn out ok for you in the end" sort of situation.
If the bible were a guide to the ocean it would have two pages, the first would say "The ocean made of water and full of fish"
And the second page would say "You can't breath underwater so best not to try, so good luck investigating it"

This is why Father has some from above here to explain these things.

Those people that died already gets a chance at death, everyone that didn't accept Christ during their life will get to see and then make a choice. If not, then they will face judgement. Even then, Hell is not what you think.

Assuming that you are a fellow human being:

Even then, Hell is not what you think.

How do you know this? No mortal man knows what hell is. we are given vague descriptions, which is what we are left to think but based on what i've read and heard i get the distinct impression that hell is a place where you can no longer be with god, which must be like solitary confinement for eternity.
Having said that, it is still just an interpretation

Above knows more than what is given to man. If man truly knew, they would think its a free pass to do whatever. Father restricted this for a reason.

So your saying that your an angel then? I'm sure you can understand my skepticisim.

I'm just a mere mortal man with very little information to go on and a heart to lead me.
My experience of listening too closely to those that would pontificate to me is that i am left with their interpretation and understanding and have learnt nothing myself.

I'm no angel, nor do i ever expect to be. But what i do know is that the core of virtually every religion is the same so at least there is something to work with.
Would we all be just animals without religion?

That is your assumption. (People have this set view of angels because of Hollywood. Trust me, you wouldn't know if it was an angel that talked to you on the street today)

But, to answer your question: All major religions view God as the same (Some won't admit it), but above knows this to be true. Above, there is no classification of religions, there is just the right side or the left side. Some need religion to get to God, some don't. Some have even surpass religion.

I'm no angel, nor do i ever expect to be.

They know who they are.

Well you have kinda strongly implied that you are an angel.

I'm pretty sure i did meet one once.

If you were an angel i would expect you to not say so. if you just thought you were an angel but had enough sense to know a conversation would end immediatly if you mentioned it then you also wouldn't mention it. If you were stark raving mad then i guess it wouldn't bother you and you probably wouldn't have internet priveledges anyway.

I don't think I have ever come across anyone who claimed to be an angel. I have seen claims of being Jesus, a prophet, God indwelt, etc.

Do you mind expanding?

It was just one of those times when you meet someone in passing who seems completely inoccuous, like a street bum (as was the case) who says something that you really needed to hear at that exact moment and also gives you a strange vibe.
I was on a bus at the time and he handed me a worn old card that said something like "come to jesus" or "jesus saves" or something like that (you know the kind of message i mean)
He didn't preach or anything, just smiled, i think we talked about the weather or something, can't really remember. Didn't last long, just a few minutes.

Left me feeling hopeful and re-energized when i was close to giving up.

Well it's the kind of thing thats always happened to me, moments of clarity or an understanding suddenly formulating in my mind because i'm open to it, that sorta thing.

I don't really claim to have an answer for it but i would like to think it's the big man.

Many others are closed, this is why the above method is employed.

You can be sure it is of him.

I gotta go buy milk now but it's been good talking with you.

My one humble suggestion: be like that mysterious old man and just smile and deliver your message without too much religious overtone, most people respond better to it and god knows, the various religions have been driving people away from god for years now with those overtones.

Peace.

In person it's shock and awe!

The internet loses much intent in words...

Yep, in the days of Noah, people were marrying, getting drunk, probably selling their bodies for sex to make an income and well, a great flood followed. Possible I guess.

Something just came to me...I believe the Bible states the end times would be, "as in the days of Noah." In other words, things would be like they were when Noah was alive and preparing for the flood...So, can we expect that men will be living to nearly 1000 years old prior to the end? Would this be a sign?
edit on 20-10-2011 by jeichelberg because: misspelling in the title of the thread

Men did what was right in their own eyes instead of following the authority of God. This is what it refers to. All forms of unrighteousness take place today. The love of many wax cold. Brother against brother. These verses you refer to have nothing to do with a loophole you perceive in God's plan. This amounts to an accusation against God and pride, placing the self over the one who created reality. There is no higher truth than God produces from infinity. It is pointless to think our finite minds are a match for God.

So long as you're doing it to talk with him, and not to be seen by or receive glory from men.

Then again, Christ did also speak out against the habit of striving to be heard by many words (Matthew 6 - reference to catholic our fathers/hail Marys, and the like?), as our Father already knows what we need before we ask, so he gave the example of the Lord's prayer.

While I consider the words of the apostles in the epistles useful, I have a hard time considering them on the same level as scripture, personally...just my thoughts.

Be blessed.

This is very understandable. Paul was given to man to show how a regular Joe can live as a Christian. Some might have thought Jesus was perfection, and they could never reach his level of perfectness, hence Paul being given.
