Is America really divided or is that just something that our government actually promotes, a nation divided 50/50, or close to it? Dont you thing that over 50% of the country thinks that our government is not doing a good job? I certainly do. I think that for the most part, things are going to happen no matter who (Dems/Reps) is in power. Consider this quote:

In politics, nothing happens by accident. If it happens, you can bet it was planned that way.
-Franklin Delano Roosevelt

I think the politicians just intentionally have stupid Dem/Rep debates to make people think that there is hope for change.

Check out this link for a more extensive evaluation and several more quotes, mostly from our Founding Fathers, and mostly one that our current government has done the opposite of.

That is the link I was talking about in my previous post, I forgot to post it. It is kind of long, but very interesting and unbiased. And also true!

McCain is giving his speech right now and he just said that "the people" have control over the government, I think he was serious too?

No they aren't really divided......When it comes down to it.

Politically yes because ideologies are different....... People need eachother, and want eachother even if we are all strangers, that barrier can easily be broken...
The power of community and oneness is much stronger then partisan political ideas and agendas....That universe is quite small....

Except that when it starts to be "us" vs. "them", conservatives claiming that "they" the liberals are the enemies are American values, and vice-versa, then yes, your nation is divided.

Honestly, I think the Right and Left are definitely more divided than normal. But the middle are as uninvolved and apathetic as ever unless they hear their taxes could be raised.

Right now the only two issues that really motivate the majority are taxes and the war on terror. Bush has envisioned a never ending war on terror which makes it convenient for him since its the only thing most people approve of in regards to his presidency. When people compare him to Hitler they are being a bit extreme but the one area that makes it true is his ability and desire to use constant fear of a faceless enemy to keep people in check and dependent on his form of leadership.

America in some respects deserves a president like Bush.
