Deva, Romania, February (did I mention it was cold there...):

Did you make any alterations to the photo?

Some places in that photo have a strange noise, maybe it was too cold for the sensor?

That is one thing I do not have any information about. Does anyone know the temperature limits of the digital cameras' sensors?

Hey ArMaP,

As I have said several times before on this thread, I do sometimes use the Digital10 "darkroom" to make adjustments for contrast, sharpness, cropping, etc.

In the picture from Deva I slightly oversharpened the men in the center of the picture, as well as the red sign on the building in back. These must be the places you are referring to; now that I see it on the board, I realize I should have de-sharpened those areas a step. I think that is what makes for the "noise" you are seeing.

Yes, it was that "sharpening" that I was noticing.

One thing some people forget when working with digital photos is to make a backup before they start making changes, it is so easy to start changing all things that we may forget that we are using an original.

I hope you still have the original unaltered photo.

Hey all,

Here are two shots our interpreter in Romania sent us by e-mail; I pass them on to you. She titled them "The Wonderful Romania

Hey ArMaP,

Yes, you give sound advice

I do keep the original photo; I save any altered photos as seperate files, for just the reason you are talking about.

I sharpened the men in the center of the photo because I wanted them to "draw the eye", but didn't want to emphasize the guy walking toward the camera in front. But I went one step too far in sharpening...

I sharpened the red sign in order to see if I could bring the letters out, but forgot to reverse it when I saw it didn't do what I wanted. As you pointed out: save the original.

The real experts here are people like Enron and Parrhesia, who know how to operate just between them and the camera...I bow to their skills any day.

Hello all .. I have enjoyed reading thru this post and experiencing the world thru the eyes of strangers. I'll post some of my own shots for everyone to see. I'll post more when I have more time, but for now I'll post a sunset that I took from my backporch. This is a smaller version, I also have this in a 1024x768 size .. I'm currently using it as my desktop image.

Hey BaastetNoir,

Yeah she does!

The lady who took the pictures is coming to stay with us for a couple of weeks in August and we're really looking forward to it; she's totally cool.

We're gonna' take her around the Bay Area, the Redwoods and some other stuff.
She has never been to America, and it should be a lot of fun.

Looks like your having a good time with the new camera...wonder what that seagull is thinkin'

So many things going on since my last post!

Benevolent Heretic – Now worries
Keep it up! With more sunsets like that from your kitchen window, it’ll be par for the course :-P

Congrats on the new camera BaastetNoir! Your work with disposables was incredible enough – Now all bets are off!! I believe I’m correct in saying that spacedoubt has a CyberShot – So perhaps he’d have some camera-specific tips to offer you…Can’t wait to see more!

Rollerblading Romanians :-P What a great photo…I saw the motion blur and an older woman and almost thought I was looking at some war-scene photo….Until I saw the rollerblades….

And great eye on catching that dramatic lighting there in the last shot – The vivid contrast between the pale monotone colors and the bright blue sky really make this one jump from the screen…

Well – As evident by my infrequent posts, it’s been pretty busy – But I’ve got a couple recent photos to share:

There’s just something funny about a guy with a big silver chain around his neck totting around daises….

I haven’t had time to do any editing to this photo – It’s too funny not to share though

This is a Spider Lilly we have in our garden – They only bloom once a year…

Excellent Photos Enron especially the one of the Spider Lily.

That one is surperb and shows every detail perfectly - you could win a competition
with that one.

Thanks for posting them.

Hey all,

BaastetNoir!

Those flower shots are really, really nice; looks to me like you're really getting the hang of that new camera . I especially like the azalea, but they're both beeeuuutiful...

Now that lip shot...that's a real beauty. I'd put it on my desktop if I thought my wife would let me get away with it. LOL Very nice lines...a sexy shot.

Seriously, that really is some good work, imho...

Enron! The picture of the kid in the pool is a classic, and I gotta' agree with Jamesmickael that the Spider Lilly plant could easily win prizes.

Glad to see you guys posting again.

Very graceful shot apocalypticon, has a very Irish Enya feel. "Éireann go Brách"

Here's a shot I took when visiting California last year at Coronado Beach, San Diego.

Thanks for the compliment XPhiles

Aahhhh...Coronado Beach...you can actually stand the water temperature down there. Stinson is north of San Francisco a bit and the ocean there is...cold...

That's a beautiful shot you posted; definitely has the feel of Southern California in the evening.

Post some more of your work if you get the time

Awakening to a bad catnip hangover (the fresh stuff out in the garden does her in...):

Your cat looks very comfortable.

Post some more of your work if you get the time.

Nature is doing all the work for me
I'm rather new at the whole photography thing.

another on that day at Coronado Beach.

Here's my cat. His name is Sunshine, he's been missing for the last 2 months.

I love this post. There sure are a lot of great photographers on here. My avatar is one of my photos edited to say ATS across the butterflies tail and change where it once was an M, as well as color modification. I will try to post some simple ones I have taken, but nothing as good as I have seen so far.

Dont worry about that, my photos are worthless compared to the others but I keep on posting them, just because I can.

Here is one I just took when I got home from work.

Hey ArMaP,

What is "worthless" about that? Some beautiful clouds, I'd say...
