I took two pictures this weekend, whereof only one were ok.
-almost.
Infact, it was so boring and mundane, that I had to open Photoshop, again.

I give to you some... ...birds...

It's not dead!
sorry about no replies!

I really like that last batch. And the lighthouse from the first.
The Shadows in your last submission give them great depth..!

Excellent use of ambient light apocalypticon! And I love how you captures the curvature of the Earth in your first image of the California coast....

You clearly have an innate ability to seamlessly blend landscape and people into one very poignant shot - Excellent work!

I hope one day I'll be able to travel with my camera!

Right now, I'm waiting on pins and needles for my new falsh

I've got my first wedding job coming up this weekend....And on the beach to boot! I don't think I'll be needing the flash for that one, since I'll be dealing with the harsh midday sun...But no fear - I've got two more weddings I can try it out at next month

Haven't touched my camera since Sunday, so no new photos for me *sighs*

Great photos apocalypticon! I especially like the one of the woman by the large windows. I think you could improve it slightly though by setting the wondows at a right angle to the frame, it would make the image 'pop' a bit more. I also like the swirly stain-glass window image. Although a more interesting framing could perhaps have been used. I like your style very much and look forward to future additions!
Oh, and that high-tide island is quite amazing too!

I've taken about 350 photos over the last two weeks and dont quite know what to post. I have assembled about 20 B&W images which will hopefully result in a mural for the baren walls in my res room. I'm quite pleased with those images and will post some later.

Great pics as usual Enron! especially the first one. I have found recently that the greatest quelm I have with my current camera is the absence of control over focus. Focus and depth of field are such powerful tools in photography, and Im feeling a little frustrated with my camera. I did some investigating into buying the Nikon D70s and have discovered that it cost literally twice as much to purchase in South Africa as it does in the States! I dont understand how import taxes could possibly constitute such a portion of the price.
Frustration...

Jooooy!

My flash came in today! Wow…I’ve been living in the “dark” ages prior to using this sucker! I’m still deep in the learning curve…I suspect it will take me some time before I can actually incorporate it at its full potential in my photos….I almost want to leave in on all the time!!

I can’t believe the effect bouncing your flash can provide….I mean – I’ve seen it done, but I’ve never done it myself! Shadows are eliminated, and your subject becomes perfectly lit! I haven’t figured out the wireless slave features yet, but it’s going to totally change the way I do my studio shots…

Well – Enough rambling - Here are a few experimental shots I’ve been taking this afternoon…

Is it just me or are these next two photos a little fruity??

First, let me say thanks spacedout, Enron, and Modulus, for your encouragement and advice. That's the first time I ever shared any photos and I am looking forward to learning from others. I don't think I have much to add, knowledge-wise here, some were taken with a Kodak and some with a Canon. We didn't pay very much for either one, 'cause it's only a hobby.

Enron, I especially liked your photos of the hanging plant and the gloves.
Sounds like you get to pursue photography quite often. That must be a lot of fun...and, hopefully, rewarding in other ways too...

You are quite right, Modulus, that lighthouse does sit on a tidal island (I guess the road is a good tip-off)

Here is a shot later in the day, skies cleared up and tide out. Completely different effect without the cloud cover...

This is another shot from Romania...it was during a wedding. I know there is a lot wrong with it (I had to crop the lower 1/4 to remove the unwanted tops of some heads...but there is something I like about the inter-generational play here, and the old-world feel of it...

And, lastly, the "elder cat" of the house...17 years old next month. Finding comfort in a messy room...

Thanks again, everyone. Now I gotta go do some tagging so I can increase my upload amount...

Oh, yeah...Enron, how do I do that thing you do, where your pictures are formatted so the viewer can click 'em and enlarge them...that is totally cool! Is there a thread on it somewhere?

The images in this thread have held together tremendously well with the incredible support of ImageShack – I can’t thank them enough for their free image hosting…

It couldn’t be simpler…

Got to ImageShack – Browse your PC for the image you want to upload – Click “Host it”

It will place your image online for free, and you’ll be taken to a page that looks like this:
img238.imageshack.us..." target='_blank' class='tabOff'/>

Select the field I have highlighted there…Copy and paste it into your post….Presto!

Howdy Bikereddie,

Well your son took some nice shots. I especially like the center one, with the sun throwing some beautiful rays into the sky. It also brought back the "feel" of military life early in the morning...very nice shot!

I don't know if anyone on this board has seen this, but here is a link to a guy (somewhere in the Netherlands) who built his own high-speed camera setup:

users.skynet.be...

Some of his insect photos are pretty cool, but it's the whole process he describes which is...well...this guy is apparently obsessed with getting the shot!

Bests to your son, bikereddie.

And thans, Enron, for the info on how to host my pictures offsite.

And a special thanks to mod Nygdan, for being willing to help so much with figuring out how to post graphics, etc. There are some very good people on the ATS boards!
