I've noticed them as well. They do them all the time now, in some cases I've noticed twice a week.

Don't forget, we are passing through Elenin's debris or whats left of it. Also, Harold Camping is predicting the true end of the world to happen on Friday. Lastly, we are on the verge of war with Iran which will piss off the Russians and the Chinese greatly.

I have noticed a lot of these, especially since I have gotten on my fiance's 3rd shift schedule... one night the EAS broke in almost 20 times and kept kicking back off, almost like it wasn't working correctly. Makes you wonder if they are gearing up for something new.

Think yourselves lucky you get any warning coms we don't get anything.
I think the majority of towns and villages early warning nuke sirens got ripped out early 90's too.

Please can you explain a little what these warnings are? If i understand it is broadcast over the.... what? ... tv? radio? And is it like an alarm or what?

We never heard of comcasts. Scuse the ignorance.... well, not really ignorance, just not been in our range of experiences.

I have Charter Cable not Comcast cable and we have been having the Early Alert System alarms a lot more than normal as well interrupting shows. It has been happening nearly three times a week at minimum. That is at least what I have caught. It may be happening more often than that though.

I'm on the East Coast, I have Comcast or XFinity or whatever they are calling themselves now. I also have XM in my car. I haven't heard an emergency broadcast in years! Where are you guys hearing it?

Sorry I didnt give alot of information on anything.. to the other people that have replied thanks for also noticing it.

EAS - Early Alert System, this is a code shown on many cable tv boxes, but i've also seen it on my sirius/xm radio as well.

All the warnings i've been encountering for the past 2 weeks have all been on the TV. Most times, we get one or two EAS tests a month.. they've been happening almost nightly...

To those who don't have this, or don't know what it is..

Your watching TV... say.. ESPN... watching the football game.. (for you blokes that would be HAND ball.. lol) and.. out of no where, the screen goes black, your cable box flashes EAS instead of the time, or channel, and then a loud pitch like a tornado warning siren comes on.. the screen changes to the EAS channel, and its a 'test' broadcast of the emergency alert system.. shows the time, the type of alert/warning and who is broadcasting this warning... in my case.. it looks like this

TIME : 12:52AM -5 GMT EST
LOCATION: Comcast
Alert/Warning : TEST, TEST, TEST

"The EAS is used on AM, FM and Land Mobile Radio Service, as well as VHF, UHF and cable television including low-power stations. Digital television and cable providers, along with Sirius XM satellite radio, IBOC, DAB and digital radio broadcasters have been required to participate in the EAS since December 31, 2006.[citation needed] DirecTV, Dish Network and all other DBS providers have been required to participate since May 31, 2007." - copied from wiki, link below.

I have noticed them on my Comcast cable network, and I live in the MidSouth... United States... we recently moved a few weeks ago and haven't had the cable turned on here at this house and I've not seen hardly any of them on local television, so it would appear that it is Comcast testing so frequently for some reason
