You can't win a war by running away from it. Not all animals that are eaten, or killed are treated horribly, or cruelly. You want to stop the
cruelty, do your research, find the places and people that provide animal products and do humanely. Spend the extra money to get your products from
them, in fact do your best to help these people promote their products. Tell your friends, your friend's friends, even if you refuse to eat it
yourself, buy it anyway, makes meals from it for your friends, feed your dog a really good treat, anything to make sure the businesses that do it
right get the revenue to promote the proper way to do things.
All not eating meat does is take you out of the equation, it makes no point and solves no problems. If you say you won't eat meat because you can't
stomach how animals are treated, but won't eat meat even if the animals were treated humanely all you're really saying is, I'm not going to eat
meat even if you do change your practices, so my opinions don't really matter because I am not and will not ever be a consumer even if you meet my
demands.
You're not fighting the good fight, you're not making the world a better place, and you are completely ignoring the reality of the system, and the
battlefield upon which the war is waged. At best you're making yourself feel good because you yourself aren't eating any animals. But I have news
for you, that's insignificant and irrelevant to the bigger picture. More meat goes to waste than would have been consumed by you anyway. Perhaps
less meat might have been wasted and fewer animals would have been tortured for nothing. No animals are saved and no suffering is alleviated by your
not eating animals. Zero, zilch, zip, nada, none, not a single one, is complete irrelevancy. Ultimately being a vegan or vegetarian is selfish as
the only purpose it serves is to make you feel all warm inside and as if you have some kind of moral high ground. It's an ego boost, nothing
more.
If you really care about how these animals are treated, if you really want to stop it, accept the world and system for what it is and actually do
something about it using the tools inherent to the system to make it happen. Help make cruelty to animal unprofitable and reward those who do right
by making sure the money instead funnels in their direction. These greedy money hungry bastards only care about one thing, the bottom line. So if
you really want to change things, hurt them where they care about it and make it clear that change can be profitable. As is, they serve no real
purpose in doing anything but write you off. Does it suck to them they lose you as customers because to go vegetarian or vegan? Yes, but since you
pretty much make it clear by ignoring their competitors that try to do right you aren't going to by their products either, you simply demonstrate
that even if the meat industry did change, you're a lost cost anyway, so why may I ask should they bother?
They aren't humanitarians, they aren't good people, and is pretty clear they don't care how their animals are treated. Only thing that matters to
them is making a profit. So stop trying to combat them by appealing to their conscience and stop trying to fight them making irrelevant financial
statements that don't actually matter.
Is it annoying to them any time you convert another customer away from them? Sure it does, but frankly you aren't making enough waves, and they're
having trouble keeping up with the current population anyway. A few less customers does not really hurt them right now. Giving the money to their
competitors however does, it means their meat is going to waste without any profit, while their humane competitors are seeing a profit boom.
They speak money, you really want to make a difference, learn to speak it yourself, communicate to them in the one language they understand and will
not ignore. Otherwise you're nothing more than a lazy self-center, self-righteous ass that really could care less about actually doing something
about the problem and only want to feel better about yourselves so you can sleep better at night cozy in the thought that at least you're not part of
the problem. You're the people that walks by a woman getting raped and does nothing and tell yourself at night that hey, you didn't rape her and
you're not a rapist, so you're not a bad person and did nothing wrong. Well I have news for you, you did nothing right either, you just avoided the
problem and hid from it.
