Iran warns West of 'strong confrontation' to any 'inappropriate measures'

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned on Sunday that Tehran would respond robustly to any "inappropriate measure" by Western powers linked to an alleged Iranian plot to kill the Saudi ambassador to Washington, state television reported.

"Any inappropriate measure against Iran, whether political or security-related, will be strongly confronted by the Iranian nation," Khamenei said, in a clear reference to U.S. allegations that two men with links to Iran's security forces had planned to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States.

Things are heating up fast, there is a new development every day.
The article also explains that Saudi Arabia has taken the first step to have Iran reported to the United Nations Security Council. It will probably lead to more sanctions. It seems multiple nations are getting on the band wagon. They are really going all out on this "terror plot".

I wonder what kind of measures Iran will take. It is rare that the Supreme Leader speaks out on these matters. Iran is being blamed by the international community for something that has not been proven. They have the right to be angry, but saber rattling and making threats will not help the situation. All the tough talk plays into the hands of Washington in assisting them with demonizing Iran.

Time would be better spent digging deep holes in the sand and hiding fast...

The message they have chosen to send for years has been clear, they will get the response needed soon or bow low and play nice....

I'm not trying to make Iran look like an innocent victim, but they appear to be innocent of what they are being accused of. They are denying the accusations and the international community is already pursuing sanctions because of these false claims. They have every right to be mad and voice their opinion.

In my opinion it is the White House and countries like Saudi Arabia and Israel that need to shut up. It is so obvious what they are doing.

Iran is pretty safe as long as the White Swans fly. All it would take for this talk to end is one of them going into British airspace. It has happened before.

Ever heard of the concept of the "rule of law"?

Basically, society is supposed to allow law to determine and remedy its problems. It's a staplepoint of democracy.

In fact, innocence until proven guilty is a major factor of it. The burden of proof is on the prosecutors, to prove that there was a crime.

Being forced to prove that you're falsely accused is something that happens in totalitarian countries.

I'm surprised that the US government didn't label this guy as an "enemy combatant" and thrown him in an off-shore detention camp where he could go without human rights or a trial (or charges for the matter) indefinitely, then he would never be able to prove being falsely accused like so many others the US has taken.

With all honesty, I cannot prove that the plot is false. My concern is that the Americans have not proven that it is true. In modern times you don't accuse nations of something as serious as this alleged plot then pursue sanctions without first proving a valid case. This is an absolute mockery of international law.

This may be a good thing, as Saudia Arabia and the United States would have to produce evidence, that would be a matter of public record against Iran and ultimately show to the world, and namely the other permanent members of the UN Security council that such is justified. As China and Russia have heavily vested interest in Iran, that evidence needs to be very conviencing to get them to agree and follow through with any and all sanctions. If it is not, chances are they will veto said actions.

That is a very good observation. All these recent blunders can't help but expose the corrupt members as the tyrants that they really are, not that it wasn't already obvious.

Russia and China have every reason to side with Iran on this situation.

Should be obvious this was coming. All of the countries on the ole "Axis of Evil" list have been threatened or invaded. With mass uprising taking place in the U.S. something has to give. They are going to try to start another war. With what men? Well, I don't know. We are already spread thin enough as it is and there is no invading iran as it's covered on all sides by mountains. You can't take armor into those mountains, they can't operate there.

Zzzz... At least once every couple of days, some Iranian military/government/religious official will make an almost identical announcement warning that "Western/Zionist aggression" will receive a "robust response" or something along those lines.

I remember when I was this ignorant. I spouted gibberish in the name stupidity without knowing it. I was young, stupid, ignorant. I believed what I heard and saw to be true. I believed everyone was honest and good.... Then I grew up, got smarter, learned new things.

I wish Iran, Pakistan, and Syria would put their differences aside and form a union. Nato and American war saber rattling would probably subside.
