I am tired of hearing every month that we are creating jobs, but still falling behind in employment because we are (stupidly) adding 100,000 people a month to our country. Why are we pursuing this idiotic policy that is destroying our economy, infrastructure, environment and peace? Immigration really provides no benefit to our nation (unless you believe Bill Gates that no one from America is qualified to work at Microsoft) but causes lots of problems. If we stopped immigration tomorrow we would see our unemployment rate start to go down.

Are people really so mindless that they will blindly follow policies just because of tradition and empty claims? We need to stop population growth if we wish to remain a first world nation, and this is the easiest way to do it.

Rather than stopping immigration entirely I would suggest that they eliminate the work visa's unless absolutely and rigorously tested to be necessary. Impose heavy penalties on companies that promote illegal immigration by hiring them to keep more profits for themselves.

But continue to allow family immigration.......I have been married since 2002 and we are not finished with the process and I Really don't want to end up being forced to live without my husband.

What?

Immigration provides no benefit? Your country was FOUNDED and BUILT by immigrating immigrants from Europe and other places. Your entire culture is a melting pot of all the immigrants that have come before your family. If you aren't Native American, than your family came her on boats too.

Shutting down immigration, that's a good one. As far as Bill Gates goes, he's right in a sense, nobody in America is qualified to work at Microsoft in comparison to people from India or Europe who are much better educated and informed.

How do you propose we stop immigration eh? Just shut down the border? Stop population growth? Are you kidding? The US needs to increase it's population growth if it doesn't want to become the nation of seniors in the next 20 years.

You know that there aren't enough young people to take care of the elderly right? I don't think you've thought this through, or are particularly informed of the situation.

The answer is simple. Your government doesn't give a damn about you. Cheap labor for corporations increases their capital gains. If corporations are making more money, they are happy. Those who oppose immigration laws.. you know.. those "politicians" who are elected to represent the people? Well they arethen given a nice hefty "thank you" in $$$ from these corporations.

America does not give a damn about its citizens anymore. We are just consumers. Period. Where we once were a great and powerful industrial nation... today we are nothing more than a glutenous service nation. Its rather sad.

PS- How long before the argument comes in to play that "Americans are all immigrants"? That was a long time ago. Get over it. A long time ago people were slaves too. Does that mean it should be ok today?

My brother got snagged by a dominican woman 10 years older than him, they eventually got married so she could get her paper work and immediately popped out 2 kids. Not surprisingly, her sister AND her mother did the same thing. It's a nasty trend but, you know what i think at this point it's wayyy too late to try and do something about immigration. America's doomed in my opinion anyway.

You obviously don't know much about what is happening.
Immigrants don't steal our jobs. They have a slim chance of actually getting a good job.
They come here to start a new life. And will do any low down dirty job there is to make ends meet.
Don't blame them for working in a field that Americans are too lazy to work in themselves.

What we need to do is stop outsourcing ALL of our jobs to countries like Haiti and China
and give them to American workers.
Don't forget my friend, without immigration YOU wouldn't be here today.

For me it's just me and my hubby, my daughter is grown. He is from Canada and it probably wouldn't have taken as long as it has but I broke my hip and ended up in the hospital on the date of our interview for his green card, and if you miss that they deny the petition as abandoned, then you have to leap through hoops to get it reopened or pay another 1010 or more by now to start the process over.

Unlike those coming in on work visa's and illegal immigrants, he can't work until we get this over but he can stay while the request is under review, if he works he can be banned permanently

Lots of people propose solutions but you don't get to hear them on the MSM because they are all owned by the zionist bankers and reducing immigration of slaves will force wages up for the locals and thats not something corporations want.

Face it people we are being stuffed and the phony two party system is coming to bits and we are tired with the puppet on the left, the puppet on the right hand, tired of the puppet master who needs running out of town.

Even when we film police commiting serious criminal asults we are not allowed any justice, justice needs to go back to 'We the people'

We can add cutting immigration to this list of questions that would help the economy...

Why isn't anyone proposing cutting our military spending in half to help the economy?

Why isn't anyone addressing the numerous religious, healthcare agencies, and housing projects that are on the tax free roll?

Why isn't anyone addressing raising import taxes?

Why isn't anyone addressing implementing a real energy plan that would reduce our need for foreign oil and give our economy a boost with new energy technologies?

Why isn't anyone addressing controlling abuse and waste in our social programs?

Why isn't anyone addressing the elimination of corporate lobbying and campaign financing?

Why isn't anyone addressing eliminating federal programs that should be controlled at the state level?

Why isn't anyone addressing a change in our foreign policy, stop the war mongering and bring all our troops home?

Why isn't anyone addressing the elimination of NAFTA?

Why is there even an argument about raising taxes on the rich?

Why isn't there a congressional investigation to eliminate the Federal Reserve?

Why isn't anyone addressing the elimination of foreign aid?

Why isn't anyone addressing the elimination of ethanol production which is causing food prices to skyrocket?

And my opinion on your logic is, you are ignorant.
I think most would agree with me.

Wrong. We are a nation founded by colonists, not immigrants.

Immigrant: “relating to those who have come to settle in another country”
Colonist: “an immigrant to a new colony, or one of the founders of it”

The country was built up by colonists who then permitted the inflow of immigrants. A country did not suddenly appear out of nowhere so that people could immigrate to it, no, the country was founded by the English settlers which then allowed in immigrants. How can an immigrant who immigrates to another country be its founder? For you to be an immigrant you have to be moving to another country otherwise you are a colonist or even a settler.

Shutting down immigration, that's a good one. As far as Bill Gates goes, he's right in a sense, nobody in America is qualified to work at Microsoft in comparison to people from India or Europe who are much better educated and informed.

So bring in everyone from around the world because our education system is not good enough? Perhaps if they spent more time actually trying to fix education and not just throw money at it we could have the best educated workers in the world. But nope, just open the borders.

How do you propose we stop immigration eh? Just shut down the border? Stop population growth? Are you kidding? The US needs to increase it's population growth if it doesn't want to become the nation of seniors in the next 20 years.

First we can tie immigration to our specialization needs and unemployment rate. If we are lacking employment in a certain field then allow people in who specialize in said field. If our unemployment rate is below full employment what sense does it make to allow new immigrants in? I think that is a high crime against the workers born in that country, any politician or person who advocates that apparently does not care about displacing the native workers because we know darn well that immigrant labor is much cheaper. This has to be one of the most disgusting ideas ever pushed upon Western society by big corporations in our history.

We increase our population growth by displacing the native population, is that what you are saying? So all the Joe’s and Sean’s need to get over competing for lower wages because Juan and Maria were invited in because there is not enough population growth, is that what you are saying? Or perhaps it does not matter to you that the United States, and the rest of Western civilization, will by century’s end be almost extinct demographically. The US is a better country than Mexico and Haiti because of who built our nation, Westerners, yet you say open the flood gates and turn your back acting like nothing is going to happen? There is a reason people want to immigrate, their countries are crap, and the reason their countries are crap is because of the people’s work ethics.

You know that there aren't enough young people to take care of the elderly right? I don't think you've thought this through, or are particularly informed of the situation.

Let me get this straight: ‘We must bring in boat loads of third world labor because the native populations are not breeding enough, after we encourage abortions and contraception, and in a few years the welfare state will not be able to hold up, which the left advocated for in the first place’. What this means to me is that in order for the old white people to live comfortably we must bring in young brown people because the ridiculous policies of the Left throughout the past 70 years has set up an economic system which is completely unstable, then we encouraged lower fertility rates knowing that this would mean less workers in the future, resulting in the Left now crying for ‘we need more workers’.

Maybe you forgot but we do not want to be displaced in our homelands because the Left screwed up, keeps screwing up, and now wants to cover up their screw ups by whiping us from the face of the earth.

The word immigrant is in the definition of colonists.
You can't get more clear than that.
You just lost your own battle lol.

Misoir, somehow I knew you'd end up blaming the left for all the problems regarding the United States.

Why can't you just blame lazy and complacent Americans from both sides? The US citizen is the one to blame, nobody else.

I don't have to answers to how to solve the immigration problem, illegal immigration is certainly a problem, but barring people from entering the country isn't going to help.

And yes on education, I agree that America should spend a lot of time re-doing it's education system if they want to compete in today's global economy.

I'm not here to argue what it takes to solve the problem, I just wanted to point out that stopping all immigration is ridiculous idea. Immigration reform is what you need, not immigration denial.

Edit to add: colonists are the same as immigrants in the sense I am discussing. The colonists came here cause their countries sucked and they wanted a new one.

Founded by immigrations or colonists, either one is the same. Arguing any differently is just semantics.

did the colonists have welfair and food handouts? special treatment?
I think they had to cut down tree's and fend for them selves.
if they got a land grant , it had to be cleared and worked or it was taken away in some instances.

They murdered women & children and robbed them of everything.
Worse than an "immigrant" if you ask me.
