Boy, 13, with arsenal of weapons found in clapped out ute towing dead donkey, say police

www.news.com.au

AN armed 13-year-old boy has been caught driving with high-powered weapons in his clapped-out ute while towing a dead donkey.
NT Police may have not immediately noticed the loaded firearm allegedly sitting beside the boy when they pulled him over for a breath test, nor the shotgun, high-powered rifle or 100 rounds of ammo allegedly lying on the back seat.

The ute was towing behind it in the dust a noticeably deceased donkey.

They breed 'em wild and crazy in the Northern Territory .
The only thing missing here , is a hood and sheet , and a banjo !
I bet this kid has two heads and six toes , to match his furry back .
I hope he never hits the big smoke !?
is this an isolated incident ?.... probably not
the cops don't often patrol the back blocks

Yeah, stuff like this happens out in the sticks here in the States a lot, too. Wonder if they'll try to paint him as menace to society?

He sure as hell is a menace to donkeys...

But doubtful a menace to much more than that given the boat load of weapons he had and no attempt to use them on the officers that stopped him.

When I read the title of your thread....(before I read the article)....I thought to myself....

What sort of home has this boy been raised in?
Is he being taught to do these things?
Does he secretly ...want out of the current life style he is in?

After reading the article....I am hoping that this boy...will be placed in a good home...where he will receive love and healing....

I do not think he should be punished for what he was taught by his Father.....and I suspect threatened and/or forced into doing......I think this boy was just trying to survive...being raised and around his Father...

Would you feel the same way if this was a story from the Alaskan wilderness?

I don't think so.

This story certainly makes me go Hmmm.
I must admit, I've never heard of the expression
of a "clapped out ute." Together with dragging
around a piece of ass, it gives it an entire
different connotation

Donkey's are heavy. If he's a farmer's kid and his dad told him to move the dead donkey off the property then that's probably what he was doing. Possibly not as wild as it sounds?

They talked to the father, he knew his son was out there. Where is the explanation for he donkey?

A bolt action .22 rifle, a 20 gauge shotgun, a "high powered .243 rifle" and 100 rounds of ammunition. There is no doubt in the media's mind that this 13 year old boy was prepared for war and should be tried as for terrorist acts.

What a crock of Vegemite.

Yeah - - I was reading comments on the story from one of the links.

One of the posters is apparently from the Northern Territory and basically said: if you don't know the area - - you don't know what you're talking about.

I agree. This story is major sensationalized.

If a 13 year old kid was out in a snow plow in the Alaskan wilderness with guns and pulling a bear carcass - - - no one would blink an eye. Because most people can relate to that hostile environment.

They apparently live on a "station", that's "ranch" in the US. Dad keeps guns in truck for varmint control. Kid knows about guns. A hundred rounds of ammo is probably less than a full box for each of the guns.

Donkey dies. Dad tells kid, (who learned to drive as soon as his legs would reach the pedals), to drag it off before it starts to stink. Maybe kid takes the "long way" to get in a little extra driving.

No big deal until cops see him, then all he!! breaks loose.

He's a country kid, for goodness sakes. He wasn't on his way to start a war!

Exactly what I was getting at! People that haven't been around farms probably don't know what it's like. That kid is probably smarter. more responsible, and more comfortable with guns than the police.

my dad used to take me wild dog hunting just before deer season to clear out the packs of wild dogs that started becoming a menace.

I would drive this old 84 S10 manual when I was 12-13 and I had a 410 shotgun, dad had a 30-30 and his F150.

we'd drive the dirt roads circling fields and such to corner some of the packs, shoot them and toss them in the bed of the truck and drive them to the landfill back in the day.

dont see an issue with the kid. Thats how life is in the "sticks"

I've drug many a dead cow when I was 14 for my uncle who ran a farm and cows would be attacked by bobcats or wild dogs, I'd chain and drag them to the burn piles.

What in the H-E-(double-hockeysticks) is a "clapped out ute"??? I see a Toyota pickup truck... Am I missing something? Or...? Is it some kind of new, hip slang the kids are using these days? Did some rapper make it up, and it just caught on like the term "bling"? Or is it more like a Larry the Cable guy "git er done" type of thing?
