Nguyen Thi Phuong from Vietnam is only 26, but you would be forgiven for mistaking her as an old woman.

After suffering an allergic reaction in 2008 and taking a variety of medications prescribed for it, Phuong's skin on her face, neck and hands rapidly wrinkled and became saggy, giving her the appearance of a 70-year-old granny.

It all began when the young lady from Giong Trom district of Ben Tre province ate some seafood.

It made her face break out into an itchy rash so bad, that she used to scratch her face even in sleep, Phuong told Tuoi Tre, a major Vietnamese daily newspaper where the news first broke.

This would be horrible if it never went away.

Imagine what she will look like when she actually is 70? She will be able to fool us all into believing she is 200 year old.

Anyways, interesting what medications can do to you.

Any thoughts?

She turned to traditional medicine for the itching and used that for a prolonged period of time. Such practitioners in her country are known to lace their remedies with steroids which could have caused this.

I've seen similar with people who have been bitten by spiders on their faces and from allergic reactions.
If she discontinues the medications and treats the problem with nutrition and lots of rest, she should return back to normal.

That's amazing her husband still loves her. What a swell guy! But looking in his eyes it looks like he is very sad and pained. It's like he doesn't want to hurt her, but he can't believe that's even her.

Wow!

You know I find this really interesting because this is in a place where people still believe in curses in things like that. I never believe myself but when i see stories like this of strange medical curiousities I have to wonder if someone believed they were cursed in such a way could it then affect their health in that way?
Strange...yet believeable.

Uh huh. ....

...this generation of children is the first generation predicted to die before their parents.

The kids who are now 10-12 years old will be the first generation that will die before their parents do!

...the World Health Organization in 2002 announced that this is the first generation of children that will die before their parents

Okay - they're blaming diet, lifestyle and obesity - but no one admits it's prions buggering everyone's metabolism, or that drug manufacturing creates prions.

I think this is a hoax.
How can someone's hair-line recede instantly.
Also, it's funny how both women are wearing a red shirt.
Definitely a hoax.

I'm calling hoax too. The ears on the older woman are far too larger than the younger.

I'm not buying this one. Questionable source and silly storyline. Looks more like a Weekly World News story.

It isnt just her face, rest of her body has aged in appearance as well.
I dont see how it would be possible to reverse such extensive damage to the skin.

Assuming this is even real and not a hoax.

The young girl does not have a widow's peak and the older woman does.

I've seen the picture of the young woman before around the interwebs in general. I don't think this is real. Would be a very interesting case though.

It's strange but in both photos the hairline is receded on only one side.

I have actually seen my Mother during an allergic attack and this is quite similar. I believe the hoax is that she stayed this way.

Edit- Could this have been an undiagnosed stroke/nerve damage?

You can't accurately determine that since you can only see one side of the old lady's head.
Though it does appear that way.

Questionable source and silly storyline. Looks more like a Weekly World News story.

AsiaOne is a respected Singapore news portal. The agency is just not run by the same corporate censors that rule North America, Britain and Australia.

These few items from the main health page clearly illustrate that this is not a 'questionable' source..

That was the first thing I noticed too, both wearing a red shirt.....so you think unconsiously, "that's the same person" It threw up a red flag for me....I don't think this is true....going to do some digging and see if it's possible

Her hairline does naturally go up higher one side in the younger photo. In the afflicted on she just has her hair scraped back instead of parted.
