It does not matter what you call it, a family is a family. A play on words can not destroy a family. As for the children involved, they will never know the difference. Mommy and Daddy will surely still be called that, Mommy and Mommy...Daddy and Daddy...what have you. As someone with a close family member who was raised in a same sex household, I can say that they have been given one of the best upbringings that I could imagine and turned out very well adjusted and...gasp...straight. So to avoid discrimination from people who have completely outlandish views on the outcome of such upbringings, I think this is a wonderful thing.

If you like this, you should read how the laws about child custody in these cases are in Canada. While it isn't being made much out of, the laws as written are pieces of trash that promote an abstraction of parenting that only occurs in the case of children of homosexual parents. The law is actually discriminatory because the concept of a parent being broadened ONLY occurs in the case of homosexuality.

So if you are a heterosexual parents and you repartner, the legislative changes to what a parent is don't apply to you. If one side repartners in a heterosexual relationship the opposite gender new partner is not a parent under the law, but if the other original parent repartners in a same gender relationship the new same gendered partner does have parental right under the law.

Apply this out a step, and if the homosexual partner set gets custody, and then they split the child can then be passed along the chain of partners that aren't biological or adoptive.

Its absolutely frankstein legal bs.

And you probably think we should return to Victorian values... you know the ones, sending children up chimneys to clean them, bringing back the poor house etc. It's narrow minded individuals like you that cause the issues in the first place, does it matter if it's 2 men or 2 women in a relationship as long as the child is in a loving home i see no problem, other than people like you. I bet you think the bible was written by an omnipotent being

I am discriminated against every single day on this board!
My firm belief that homosexuality is a sin and a lifestyle choice
is constantly being seen by others as being intolerant.
The homosexuals that I knew in the late 80's and early 90's.
I would have trusted these men with my grandchildren! The
ones that I have seen lately,NO!
These men didn't have their lifestyle choice as a chip on their shoulder
daring you to knock it off either. They were my friends, people that
I loved, people that I worked for and grieved over when they died
from aids.I still can't think about this one guy without crying. He
died from aids 20 days before my 40th birthday and I still miss him.
As a christian,I love the person not their sin.I am not trying to
judge,I am standing firm in my beliefs, that is all that I can do.

I don't see any major issue with it, its not like by being a "parent" you're somehow not a mother or father. I'm not into governments who limit the rights of individuals, so I've never been against gays having equal rights in all things. I don't think it does anything to destroy traditional families any more than what Steve and Frank down the street do in their bedroom affects what my wife and I do in ours.

I've always been shocked by the way some on the Big Government Right in the U.S. feel that their marriages will fall apart if gay marriage is allowed. I'm assuming its because one or the other parter is closeted and just waiting for the freedom to marry who they want - can't figure out any other reasonable explaination, other than maybe they simply hate the Constitution of the United States of America.

What you do is love them and pray for them,
the rest is up to G-d.

If all it takes to destroy the traditional family is to change the title on two boxes...

What did they do when Grandma and Grandpa had custody?

Extreme silliness to be concerned about this at all.

What I do is love and support them. It is called being human. It doesn't affect you in anyway. You say its a choice and it is a sin, where did you read that from?, A bible which was written and re written by men who produced these so called gospels for their own perverted benefitsl Oh we all know how priests, pastors or ministers have acted towards children in the past.

So you're not going to judge...but then do EXACTLY that. You might wanna make up your mind. Fact is, you are being a bigot towards people that have ZERO influence on your life. It's THEIR LIFE, THEIR FREEDOM, and NONE of your business as long as they don't hurt you.

And religious reason for bigotry aren't a good excuse either, because last I checked laws are based on rationality and discussion rather than religion...and the majority in the US is fine with gays/lesbians.

That is where you are very wrong.I have never said that I
hate homosexuals.YOU are assuming that I hate them
because I won't accept their lifestyle.

Well, you have to right to not accept it...no one's forcing you to become gay

But last I checked people's freedom are guaranteed unless they break the law, and since they don't do that, it's pretty clear you're simply being a bigot

Once again, ignorance shows. The mother/father will not be removed from the passports. This law is giving same sex couples to put parent 1 or parent 2 on their childs passports.

I'm sorry, but that is not discrimination. That is their opinion in opposition to your opinion. As far as actual laws go on such things, I think if you choose to live in a nation which values freedom and equality, you should be 100% for freedom and equality, whether you agree with people or not.

Example - I'm personally firmly opposed to abortion, and I'm also 100% straight, but I'm also 100% against any politician who is against gay marriage or for making abortion illegal. Those are choices other Americans should have the right to make - whether I would make the same choice or not. This is not a fundamentalist Theocracy, and I'm sick of people acting like it is while pretending to be "Patriots."

So you have ignorant world views but don't advocate the intolerance of homosexuality. I can accept that, thank you for actually saying it.

By the way, homosexuals haven't changed since you "knew" them.

Its funny because people oppose the evil world we live in and yet tolerate this which is being used as a tool to make it even worse.I guess tolerance really is a disease that must be cured in our society.

Bravo, the Norwegian shooter would probably agree with you...he also was against tolerance.

Your entire argumentation is so flawed, it's almost comical. So you are against homosexuals being parents because they can't conceive...fine. What about couples who can't conceive and adopt? Do you wanna strip them of the "parents" label too? Or is that fine according to your (most likely religious) bigot argument?

You might wanna re-evaluate your position, because if you stick with it, you have to admit that you're a fringe bigot. The majority in the US supports gay marriage by now, welcome to the 21st century

It actually does. If you think otherwise, I'm afraid you've made a serious strategic mistake in the promotion of your fundamental values and that mistake will eat you.

No it doesn't. And mistakes can't digest, let alone eat me.

I'll concede this, his opinion may matter to him. But that's all. If its ignorant and obviously under educated, the opinion doesn't matter.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

Ridiculous. Im fed up of the gays getting rules changed that effect normal people.

GAYS should NEVER be allowed to adopt or have rights / context and definitions changed to favor them. Disgusting.

Its Mother and Father. Britain is a joke!!
