I remember talking to some friends a couple years ago when I learned about Gordon Ramsay, some people remembered him for his temper. Not minding all his personality traits, I came to realize his incredible skills in psychology and communication. He is a magician. What seperates magic and skill to me is the execution for what he performs. He does not use his book knowledge in psychology to execute his methods of helping change people. Real magicians change people for the better by waking them up to see the light, a lot of religious people try to do this by forcing words down people's mouths, words that the people don't even agree with in the first place. Magicians do this by performing magic, which is a subconscious method to transfer special energy and create magical situations in reality. Gordon was not always a magician, his standards were very high in society which helped him develop an open communication with the world. It is within the later years that Gordon has developed his magic to an all out perfection in his being.

My brother used to hate Gordon Ramsey. I've liked him for a long time, and have long seen how he gets people to acknowledge their problems, then he works to rebuild that person's faith and confidence in themselves. This is why he is so successful at saving failing restaurants.

His background in professional soccer probably has a lot to do with his style.

So yeah, at first glance he seems like a regular jerk. Once you watch the process a few times you realize how very effective it is. I think "magician" is an apt adjective.

I hear his food is magically delicious too.

But yeah. The guy has the same MO as a drill instructor.
Break em down and build em up into a lean mean grilling machine!

I love Gordan Ramsey. He's always made me laugh with his very crude way of telling the truth. From time to time, it's good to hear criticism. Why? Because everyone needs a kick in the butt, it's a good wake up call and a way to re evaluate yourself. I've seen MORE episodes that help the people become better owners, chefs, etc, then ones that fail. The ones that failed seemed to think their poop didn't stink in the first place and they didn't need Ramsey. Those always got to me. I mean seriously, you know the guy's reputation, you know what he's like, but then become surprised that he treats YOU like that. Come on! I knew what the Drill Sargeants were going to be like in the Army, it wasn't too shocking to get yelled at, dur.

Personally though, I like the British episodes better. We're too PC over here in the US, and he has to follow strict guidelines. He lets it all hang out in the British episodes. Cracks me up everytime!

lol. When I saw the thread title I thought your post was going to be totally ridiculous. But after reading it, I can honestly agree with you. I am a huge fan of his shows. And while i thought he was a jerk at first, I have come to really respect his methods and his ability to get the best out of people. Good thread.

Thanks a lot for the good feedback.

This thread is making me realize, what is the the definition of magic? To me it is just breaking outside of the ego, not materializing something from pure mental energy. I am convinced that Ramsay doesn't have limits anymore, such as the fear and the mind to stop us from making a subconscious connection and developing it as a power.

He has a role in Hell's Kitchen, but in Kitchen Nightmare's is the show I am referring to. There has been very good descriptions in this thread about the psychology involved with the almost therapy that Gordon does on the show, possibly Gordon is working with a psychologist behind the scenes. His new show was episode 3 of the 5th season, I wasn't looking for much and wasn't in a very interested mood, but what I saw was magic. I know the physical gifts create emotional happiness but Gordon's words and his being served something very special on a platter, and it wasn't normal food but it was spiritual food.
