Occupy New Orleans has kept the bums from begging at street lights. They are following the free food and whatever else they can get free over there. So I guess I should say thanks!

They're occupying the area in front of City Hall. Which is kind of ironic since the policies of N.O. City Hall have already run most of the capitalists out of town. There are plenty parts of town that are capitalist free and full of government cheese. They are also the parts of town that are disgusting and dangerous. Go figure.

Anyway, while there may be better examples of uselessness and aimlessness than Occupy N.O., I can't think of any. Unless they're willing to ante up some cash, they probably aren't even enjoying the great street musicians or food of the city.

That was one guy who was probly a Ron Paul supporter, and the rest is mostly for Big govt intervention, more taxes, tax the rich, more regulations yadda yadda yadda and their demands are strikingly like the Democrat Party Platform....

that guy is the lone voice in the crowd.


And I noticed the sign someone else was holding said that the Founding fathers warned us of "Central Banking Capitalism", which is classic for this group, they attack CAPITALISM and espouse SOCIALISM. And most of the people around him were ignoring him too. The camera pans the faces of people engaged in other discussion.

I'm still looking for hard evidence. Some links perhaps? What I am seeing is that there is a movement on the right wing trying to discredit this movement and a movement on the left wing to take it over.

I am not defending the system...not at all, I maintain the protestors are being DUPED...and the vid I commented on sure validates that for me. The post I was replying to with those remarks is also a good one...

It was classically the 1% (one leader on a platform) ..
99% on THE GROUND *in the dirt* so to speak parrotting the leader, complete with strange hand gesturing,

totally BIZARRE

You dont have to defend the system to see the brainwashing and conditioning going on with scenarios like that!

I'm sorry but I find this funny for a different reason than most on here find it funny. These Occupy Groups are filled with people who are simply following the beating of a different drum. They honestly believe they are some grass roots movement, but I suspect they are nothing but puppets from very wealthy, very "corporate" types and Unions who are quietly funneling in money, supplies, and literature. Mark my words everyone reading this, in the end we are going to be no nearer real change, these groups are going to find out that their support have dirty hands just as those they are protesting do, and all involved are going to be even more disillusioned than before.

Btw, Fox News doesn't lie any more or less than CNN or MSNBC, lol they are all rotten lol.

Their acting like immature babies, shouting and shutting down a news report just because their on the opposite side of the political spectrum.

The problem is they had no clear message to begin with. Just a collection of angry people without a compass. It made them easy to be taken over.

They had a chance to deliver a good message, but the messengers were the wrong people.

I agree that protest is incredibly diffuse and lacking focus - but the only real 'astroturf' protest organisation right now is the 'Tea Party' scion of the Republican Party.

The only thing about this that I dont get is that they act like FOX is the only bad egg in the MSM... they are ALL suspect to lies and propaganda. Other than that - more power to 'em.

About demands. I beleive the best way to get back on track and fight coruption is to reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act. I have looked into this from over here in NZ.
The purpose of the Glass-Steagall Act was to control speculation and prohibit a bank from owning other financial institutions which would create a conflict of interest, such as investment banks and insurance companies. The Glass-Steagall Act was enacted in 1933 after excessive risk-taking that contributed to the Great Depression. Jean-Marie Eveillard, of First Eagle Funds, has said: "Glass-Steagall protected bankers against themselves.Bankers are sheep. They don't mind going over the cliff if everyone else goes over the cliff."

The reason banks were giving out such risky loans is that they were able to securitize them and sell them as mortgage backed securities and other collateralized debt obligations to investors. With the ability to both create loans and then underwrite, securitize and sell mortgage backed instruments under one roof, it is easy for banks to create a ponzi-like scheme.
