You’re in fantasy land because the Tea party is for corporate ascendancy, in other words they, the tea party, believes that we should let the corporations and banks do what they want to do to the ordinary people and the system.

There only concern is for the tax money they pay, they don’t give a dam about the poor or needy or how the elite have outsourced our jobs or when the banks gamble away the economic structure on rich man gimmicks.

Look at Cain and the GOP candidates, they all are against the OWS, and all for letting the corporations do what they want to do to the people and the system.

The corporations and Wall Street are like rapists who want to rape the ordinary people as long as they can, and it is the GOP and Tea party who are their main defenders.
That said Barak, Bill Clinton and many of the democratic are hypocrites are just as guilty, since it is that moron Bill Clinton who repealed for Wall Street the Glass steagel act.

Just take a look in the comments in this thread......there isn't going to be any together. Most of em can't get past the party rhetoric....

But it is all mute anyway, the system is dead, people are just starting to realize this as the illusion fades away (especially when this European Crisis starts the derivative collapse)

It wouldn't work because without private banks there is no capitalism, which means that everyone would have no choice but to rely on the government for survival.

Religious and ideological debate aside, I think you make some excellent points.

Work together to achieve the common good, better world for all. Sounds great to me.

Unfortunately, based solely upon the comments here, easier said than done. Such a powerful paradigm is difficult to break through, but I'm with you.

The TPM has been so thoroughly taken over by the GOP that it isn't a viable movement any longer.
The TPM only has one agenda and that is NO OBAMA; any other political consideration is purely secondary; the TPM will fall in line with whatever the GOP dictates.

That is why you see such hatred of the progressives going up against the GOP/TPM corporate Gods.

I don't even think the TPM is interested in joining an antiwar movement as it's the corporate interests that are making buttloads of money from the wars and the TPM has been completely coopted by the Corporate oligarchy aka the GOP

yeah it's a BP disaster because of no state control of security and $$$ greedy corporations with Halliburton, but you attack Obama for it instead of BP ???
come on, I am tired of your talk !
so the laws were voted when Bush was in office and it's Obama who gets the guilty card ?

State control of Security? Is that what you think is the cause of the disaster? Really... so you want more govt bureaucracy. See you are sooo Big Govt.

some interesting and eye-opening lecture ... please read .... feel free to see what's all about ....

www.newyorker.com...

so you do not want to control a bit more those thiefs and fraudeurs ??
do you have children ? I think you should care more about their health, because without our control ( food control - quality control - price control etc ... ) they will have no nice futur left ........
did you forget BP oil spill was all about the lack of security ( bad cement etc .. ) and lots of people did ring the alarm bell for it before it happened ..... so we do not have to control them more ?
We do not have to control what Monsanto does with our food ?? you care about this ?
No you care about marxism and socialism, it's easier to claim you are smart !
You still didn't answer my question : how will you protest against the world going mad ?
or do you think it doesn't ?
Peace.

There is a big difference between the tea party and occupy wall street that you just don't seem to get.

Tea party wants reverse robin hood take from the poor give to the rich.

Occupy wall street wants to stop that idea of reverse robin hood and put things back the way they were. Everybody pays thier fare share of taxes.

Now how do you plan to bridge those differences? You can't!!!

Wont happen.

Both sides are too prideful to "work together".
Its so obvious, thats its sad when they attempt to.

But I think the only way, and I mean the ONLY way to get everyone together is if
the State keeps over stepping their boundries by committing more brutality on these protestors.
Police brutality might turn things for the worse, and once something bad happens in NY- expect it to spread like wildfire across the US.

I see an orchestrated system collapse. Thats what I see.

These people arent really protesting any one thing in specific, they are protesting to incite discussion or perhaps violence towards problems that they feel is bringing this country down. Wrong or right, they are creating a dialogue in a way.

"These are our problems, address them".

Problem is. Its election season. Everyone is trying to spread around the blame.

Thank you all again for your comments and participation.

While I'm an inherently optimistic person, I can't help but feel saddened by what I see in this thread. Some of you get what I am trying to say and agree, and that is heartening. But most of the objections seem so shrill and drawn along party lines that...I'm just shaking my head.

On the second page I laid out a post in which I explained my reasoning as to why I believe the two sides can cooperate on the specific issue of breaking the financial/goivernment nexis. This is in the interests of both sides...even if their long-term goals are directly opposed to each other.

Most of the objections, however, seem to be along the lines of "their ultimate goals are opposite, duh." Yes, I know that, I'm not stupid. But that is totally irrelevant. Again, I wearily re-iterate...this is not a question of long term goals or underlying ideology.

In the 1930s, the communist USSR and the capitalist USA cooperated to smash Nazi Germany. There is an example of how two systems with totally opposing long-term goals were able to cooperate to destroy something that was an enemy to both of them. If they were able to do it...why shouldn't groups within the same nation be able to work to end corruption in the government and financial system today?

Or is America too far gone for even that?

I hope not, ATS. I hope not. For all our sakes.

Good night and God bless...
