Here in Los Angeles, overtly racist groups like La Raza are given more of a voice than almost anyone else including gays and environmentalists. Governor Browns support of aid to illegal immigrants is no surprise.

I don't see why illegals are given more benefits than American students from out of state. Why do we have to support Mexico's social problems?

To be honest? I think it's votes.

The democrats just want to be seen handing out checks to illegals so when it comes time for elections, they can say to Hispanic voters: "SEE! SEE! Look how nice we were handing out all this money to illegals! Now vote Democrat, dammit!"

That's what I think.

A lot of them are very well integrated into society, and consider this country to be their home now. Is it fair to punish them because of the bad decision their parents made? Put yourself in that position and imagine how powerless it might make you feel...
Besides all that, the money being spent on this is a drop in a bucket, 1% of $1.4 billion.

How about the kids can get the money ONLY if their parents and other family adults are kicked out of the USA permanently?
And NO, 1% of not a drop in the bucket.

Want to hear the kicker about the Dream Act?

TECHNICALLY it gives International Students an in to receive California State funded financial aid beyond what they normally are able to receive (there are alot of different loans, scholarships, etc that they can currently apply for). Wait what? It does so for three good reasons:

1. To recieve Dream Act funds you must have an equivalent of a GED in the US and have it taken in California.
2. To recieve Dream Act funds you must be a resident of California for at least three years (because no one will enforce the entered the US before the Age of 16 rule)..
3. You must be on the "path to citizenship."

In order for an international student to be on the path to citizenship, they must have had permanent US residency for 3 years (this is the requirement for a Green Card) and then apply for a green card. Once they apply for the green card they have proof that they are on the path to citizenship EVEN if their application is denied. Normally, if you have a green card you can apply for Californian loans but only after you recieve the Green Card and lived in California for 1 year (there is a 1 year California residency requirement if you are from out of state or a resident alien). This however, gives you an in even if your Resident Alien status is denied.

It's unknown if this loop hole would work since the law has been yet to be enacted and the loop hole might not have been examined. However, from what Gil Sideo keeps saying, I'm sure my interpretation of a possible loophole may be accurate.

At first glance it seems like a bad thing; Encouraging and rewarding criminal behavior. But if you look at it a little closer, it may actually be good for the state in the long run.

A lot of them are very well integrated into society, and consider this country to be their home now. Is it fair to punish them because of the bad decision their parents made? It's far better to encourage them to get a better education so that they contribute more to society, so they will be less likely to turn to crime or depend on social services.
Besides all that, the money being spent on this is a drop in a bucket, 1% of $1.4 billion.

I was married to a Mexican for 22 years and I know a lot about this. All of the illegals and green carded we knew or were related too constantly made fun of "gringos" they told me constantly they were NOT Americans and would never be. Most of them received welfare and worked under the table making them much more prosperous then my husband who worked hard and became a citizen.

When the Vietnam war started my husband signed up and the rest of his 6 brothers fled to Mexico until it was over while my brother had to leave college and go.

They ALL bought property in Mexico with this American money and went "home" once a year to check bank accounts and care for rentals.

One brother made fun of a group of guys at the river and they shot at him it hit his head. He was ok but for a weakened left arm. he received disability for the rest of his life...the check was, and is sent to his ranch in Mexico where he had servants and went on the breed a dozen kids.

The children I knew grew up with no respect of the citizens around them, but they went to school and because of their educations (paid for California) hold very high paying jobs in many cases, and thus have taken good American jobs.

In the mean time my son has a ton of tuition and heavy debt to go to college with very little help at all.

Rewarding the children of illegals rewards illegals and so they keep coming...educate the children and you now have higher paid, not field jobs, taken from American workers and so it grows. These people really reproduce so you are looking at a monster problem.

Most of the illegals that I knew had no intention of becoming legal either. They come right out and tell you they 'get more' by being illegal. It is a shame that we are taken advantage of, that millions of our citizens are un-employed and struggling while illegals are catered to. Why help illegals go to college when many o four own kids cannot afford to go? Why train illegals for good jobs in the future when so many citizens are jobless?

Please, Please tell me where your from.
I don't believe you're from The Peoples Republic of China.
When my American Husband and I still lived in China, I don't think we paid more than 80Yun a month ( $4. ) in taxes to include every day food purchases. We also Own our Apartment, You call a Condo.
We payed a one time tax on the purchase price and squire footing.

We left China in 2005. China is Not So Stupid as to Say To America, OK, Write The Check, We Want Our Money!
That's Just Plan Crazy To Even Think It Could Happen.

China is Still A Communist Country, They Tax The Wealthy and they have a Enterprise Income Tax, domestic enterprises as state-owned enterprises, collectively owned enterprises, private enterprises.
This is a Good One I remember, Foreign Investment Enterprise and Foreign Enterprise Income Tax.
Talking to my Brother, They have this Very Larger Middle Class now so they have and new booming tax, Vehicle and Vessel Usage Tax, Vehicle and Vessel Usage License Plate Tax.
There are other taxes but Personal income tax,,,, No,,, you'd have to be in business.

OP, Damn, I am So Very Sorry, I Did Not Want To Derail Your Thread, I am Sorry.

What are you really saying? You do realize, China is abundantly wealthy off selling their cheap, slave labor products to America. I don't see people flocking over the China border to reap the benefits of a free ride.

The Last Thing You Want to Be,,,, In China illegally,,, Not A Good Idea, The Chinese Don't Believe in Open Borders and Free Hands Outs!!!!!

Ask yourself, Do you have at-least One Family Member That is a US Citizen?
Green Card for an Immediate Relative of a U.S. Citizen.
To promote family unity, immigration law allows U.S. citizens to petition for certain qualified relatives to come and live permanently in the United States. Eligible immediate relatives include the U.S. citizen’s.
OR:
Get a Green Card While Inside the United States.
Certain people are eligible to apply for a green card (permanent residence) while inside the United States. An immediate relative relationship allows you to apply on Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, to become a permanent resident at the same time your U.S. citizen petitioner files Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. For more information on filing for permanent residence in one step, see our Concurrent Filing page.

Rick Perry's reasoning to support college education of illegal alien offspring:

"But if you say that we should not educate children who have come into our state for no other reason than they've been brought there by no fault of their own, I don't think you have a heart. We need to be educating these children, because they will become a drag on our society,”

This "excuses" can and should be used for educating our LEGAL children, already here! Our legal children didn't have a say in their place of birth or their state of residence. Our children can also become a drag on our society without education.

And I got this off the census website www.census.gov...

"Ranking of the size of the U.S. Hispanic population worldwide, as of 2009. Only Mexico (111 million) had a larger Hispanic population than the United States (48.4 million)."

I don't think these figures count illegals so I would figure approximately 60 million hispanics in the US. Legal is okay but illegal IS NOT. Illegal aliens from any country shouldn't be allowed to our social services or the right to vote. NO OTHER country would allow these "courtesies" Sometimes I wonder why the USA does. Then it hit me. We are such a young country, we don't have the rich depth of fiber that constitutes protection. Only our constitution and that is quickly giong to erode I fear.
