I make this thread in reply to a recent thread I saw on the home page. It was in regards to the end of the age of man. I can't, for the life of me find that thread now.

Anyways, there was a comment by one of the posters that said something along the lines of "men have gotten lazy and just wanna play video games all the time". Now, the OP had mentioned the rise of video games, the dominance of females and the general dying out of the old fashioned "man".

The whole point of this thread is to explain why most women can no longer find that "good man" that 99% claim to want.

First off ladies, you ask too much. Seriously. When I ask a woman what she looks for in the perfect man is "Good job, cleans and cooks, athletic and good looking, unbiased about the way I LOOK, sensitive and emotional, non controlling". The list can go on. What I hear when women say these things is this "pay my bills, pay attention to ONLY me, don't be shallow yet allow me to be, treat me as an equal yet let me tread all over what makes you a man".

Let me tell you ladies, we play video games because at least in the game, we can be that strong badass that is no longer allowed to exist in real life. Testosterone and destruction pumps through our veins and we no longer have any outlet except video games.

We get to listen to you nag and yell all day about how we screwed everything up while you sat around and did nothing to contribute to the relationship. We get to take on the burden of all your baggage and bills and are expected to be just dandy with it. Accept you for who you are? And just what are we accepting? The price of love these days is measured in dollar signs instead of love.

So yes, we play alot of video games. Because this world has overrun that which we used to hold dear.

Another thing that kinda suck with real life compared to video games is, how pushing yourself to your limit in most jobs available, doesn't automatically reward you with the satisfaction of doing something right.

I worked my ass off in jobs to barely have raises and obviously see that people doing the sucking up get everything. At least in a video game, when you are better and you try your best, you get results.

Another thing, maybe there is more to life then getting a big house, an expensive car, a dog, 2 magical kids and a condo in Florida to top it off. Women used to need a men to get all those objectives, now they can do it themselves. Although, if the women seems to be putting more money and energy in that dream then the man does, she might leave or bitch on internet how men suck.

Probably has to do with instincts, women want to have comfort ASAP in life because their bodies can't have children that long, while men know they have plenty of time left...

tis a very grim world we are living in these days. maybe if more women got into gaming, at least the relationship world wouldn't mirror the outside world so much anymore

More gaming, more sport, more social activities, less TV, less hollywood, less facebook, less comparing to others.
A world where male values aren't viewed primitive compared to female values.
A world where other people then women and gay men are smart on television.
A world where the woman's childhood isn't dreaming growing up to be a princess and think that marriage is the solution to her problems. "They lived happily ever after"...has if normal life didn't have bumps.

yes, that I agree with. I mean seriously, what is to hate about gaming? Even the wii has some level of physical interactivity with it. Could do all your workouts and athletic activities through a friggin game these days. Why not take a stroll through London via a networked virtual reality system?

S&F my friend!
I have all but given up on women and relationships.
I don't have a job right now so i don't even bother looking for a partner, get enough rejection in the job hunt.

Whats a womans first question when you talk to them? : What do you do for a living?

I started telling them i'm a writer (true enough)
The first thing they ask is "Really, have you got anything published?"
I haven't so that boats sunk.

I have worked so long and put so much effort in to trying to become a good person and it seems to amount to zilch as far as prospective partners are concerned.

Ever noticed that some women go for the worst possible guy they can find?

A 'Cougar' is empowered, but hue hefner is a dirty old man, WTF???

The hate towards gaming is that it doesn't contribute that much to financial life, is very time consuming and is seen has a total waste of time for people that never play.

Of course, I think it keeps certain mental skills to stay sharp, a lot more then the boring jobs 75% of the population has. Sadly, I have never had a job where I had to use my mental skills has much has playing most of the games I play.

I think you have already worked towards something that is worth even more then materialistic objects and goals. Too bad you can't compare that has easily then a shiny sports car to be a factor of "visual happiness".
visual happiness : how others view your amount of happiness compared to themselves.

Good girls always choose the worst guys...they know they are good, they deserve to highest visual happiness possible no?

I believe that one path to happiness, is to stop comparing ourselves to others in a negative way. We must always surpass ourselves and become better and better for ourselves, not for what others think of us or how others value our level of happiness.

Tried that. For some reason the missus didn't fancy playing Red Dead Redemption. Even though I said she could have a go riding the horse....

As for gaming....

If it wasn't for computer games i would never have the sense of satisfaction you get from rising to the top, I would rarely have any fun and my whole life would be about loneliness, dissapointment and failure.

Long live computer games!!! Long live RIFT!! Long live Skyrim!!

In TES SKYRIM, we can all fulfill our wish of dominance by yelling at people and smashing them.

See, you guys prove it right there. In todays world, no one can be top dog anymore. No one can brag or boast about things and them be true. Except if you are a ganster. IN games, all that comes to life.

The one problem with that is if i ignore what others think i end up alone.

In addition to all this, if you're broke as **** (due to a sh***y or non-existent job), then you really can't afford to do much else other than get your game on. Which beats the hell outta watching Jersey shore, or dances with the stars, or whatever other vapid program is on tv.

And I maintain, if I needed surgery at some point in life, and my doctor couldn't utterly defeat me in Super Street Fighter IV, then I don't want his ass operating on me...

I play video games because I've always played video games. I've had two Ataris, one ColecoVision, three Nintendos (NES), one Nintendo 64, one Playstation, one Playstation 2, two Sega Dreamcasts (highly underrated system, by the way), two Xbox's (1 new, 1 used), and 4 Xbox 360s (RRoD has claimed the first three).

I play because I like to play. That's not going to change any time soon. My wife was well aware of it long before we got married. We even play together sometimes. She totally PWNS me at Guitar Hero. She takes some sort of twisted pleasure from it, too.

I hate Guitar Hero.

Most of the time, that is correct. Although, there have been instances when people actually made real money off a game they played. I believe it was the game Eve Online that some dude made a space station night club that people would pay real money via paypal to get entry into the club. The guy made tons of money.

And yes, even an FPS that involves shooting and reloading/rinse and repeat, can keep you sharp. People develop almost twitch reflexes from these types of games. Reflexes that can be invaluable in a survival type situation should the SHTF in the real world.

Most games have some sort of cognitive benefit.
