Thats what happened in 1917. Mixed into the Communist crowd were disenfranchised Russians,from every walk of life.

The Decree on Land ratified the actions of the peasants who throughout Russia seized private land and redistributed it among themselves. The Bolsheviks viewed themselves as representing an alliance of workers and peasants and memorialized that understanding with the Hammer and Sickle on the flag and coat of arms of the Soviet Union.

Other decrees:

All Russian banks were nationalized.
Private bank accounts were confiscated.
The Church's properties (including bank accounts) were seized.
All foreign debts were repudiated.
Control of the factories was given to the soviets.
Wages were fixed at higher rates than during the war, and a shorter, eight-hour working day was introduced.

Also, I used the religion thing to point the way to being self sufficient and not dependent on the world for sustenance. Why did that offend you so deeply? I meant to point the way to independence, not dependency on the State. I also meant to say that it is certain "Princes of This World" who have aggregated the great wealth which has given them power over the little people. The Little People know this on some level. I am pointing to a deeply spiritual understanding of this.

I also pointed to the emptiness many wealthy elite have in their souls because despite their amassed wealth, they are empty inside. It was not really meant to be a criticism but a deeper understanding.

Maybe it would have had a different impact had I used a Buddhist monk analogy instead, since many Progressive liberals like alternative views.

ppl still do "get lucky" ... in Vegas and Atlantic City and usually brag about it.
they do with the Lotterys and Publishers Clearing House
and usually pilfer it away rather do anything to invest in their future.

what makes you think this protest will or can change any of that?
getting "lucky in business" doesn't always occur by walking all over everyone else ... that's your own fantasy.

that isn't even what Wall Street does ... the players, sure but no different than any other paramutual event.
it's just bigger stakes and better payoffs.
you will never protest the gamblers out of the system ... remove their $$ source and you stand a chance of regaining legitimacy of the game.

If anyone can pinpoint these 1% so often derailed, i would be very interested in the real targets ... or, are we to simply assume it is as it states ... "consumers" are the problem?

That type of stereotyping is the same as calling the all the military baby killers.

I'm an old hippie and lived the life style for many years but I have also made well over a million dollars in various businesses, hired over 50 people, given to charities, run for public office, supported a few ex wives, etc.

I also support OWS and their fight against corporate and govt. corruption and greed.

I have been called all sorts of names on ATS but my true description besides my long hair and beard should be American Capitalist, entrepreneur, and concerned citizen.
