The Internet is currently killing religion.

Religion is not actually dead yet (unfortunately). But it will be. It's doing plenty on its own to kill itself, but the Internet is helping to speed things along. Someone once defined the Internet as: "The Place where religions go to die."

Amen.

Thank you.

I guess it speaks to the "laziness" of my generation.

I couldn't possibly imagine flipping through pages of books found using the Dewey Decimal at the library.

A testament to your ambition.

You always hear christian apologist and preachers quote Nietzsche when he said "God is dead and we have killed him" then laugh when they say "well, 100 years later God is still very much alive".

Chances are 100 years from now the very same God will be very much alive and well and the apologists and preachers will be referring back to this very ATS post laughing as they respond the very same way.

I just dont see Steve Jobs doing anything but making cool stuff for people to use.

Thanks for the stuff Steve ol boy. Maybe ill get that KJV app for my iphone.

Accessibility to knowledge has grown every century since...... beats the heck out of me lets make up a number and say 2000 years. It hasnt done much in the whole God killing thing.

Not only lazy but short sighted. I think maybe you were influenced by Zeigeist a bit too much.

Steve Jobs made a great company. Beyond that...

You really can't comprehend what I wrote?

The internet made information available.

Before the internet how would you ever read about Horus?

The internet killed dogma.

Steve Jobs killed religion.

Seriously, I assume you think the story of Horus actually resembles Jesus? Obviously, technology has problems as people are spoon fed such poor scholarship via videos like Zeitgeist. Back in the days when more people did responsible research, and it was hard to get your stuff out to the public, this sort of drivel never caught on. Why? If you read the primary documents then Horus bears little resembalenceComputers have actually strengthened my Christian faith. My logos bible software makes bible study easier and quicker and opens up the original languages to those who never learned them.

Steve Jobs didn't kill religion, he enhanced it.

You should listen to your parents.

I think you have missed the point.

What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us? Must we ourselves not become gods simply to appear worthy of it?

Not really. Believe me, things were just different, then. We had attention spans that lasted more than 2.5 seconds. We could (and did) spend hours in the library. WITHOUT a cell phone, ipad, ipod or other personal, electronic device to take up the hours of our days. I don't think your generation is lazy, you're just accustomed to the access you have and wouldn't be willing to trade down. We didn't know any better, so we weren't bothered by it and were willing to take the time to increase our brain power. Encyclopedias were VERY popular and I also spent HOURS reading in them. Most households had a set or two. Have you ever seen an encyclopedia?

How many of you over the age of 25 knew about the Epic of Gilgamesh, Horus, and Krishna before year 1985?

Answer: nobody

Incorrect, grasshopper!
I didn't know what the Epic of Gilgamesh was, but I still don't.
But Horus and Krishna? Yeah. I knew about them and a LOT more before 1985. I was almost 30 years old. Plenty of time to spend at the Library and buried in our encyclopedias.
And public schools were a LOT better when I was in them, so we learned a lot more there than the kids are learning today.

It's just a different time and the adaptable humans adapt.

You have to put it all in perspective , looking at it from a limited point of view will of course give you that limited view
,we from the generation just before happen to have seen the crossing point so to speak of where we are at now and grew through this interesting point in time
See it all has to do with point's. Bwahahahahahahahaha! Peace

Some of you computer nerds need to go look at a sunset or sunrise, gain some perspectives about this world.
Here is another good experience that Jobs never invented....
Relationship, you know with another person, not just yourself. Love, affection, joy. You know things your "My Doll" cant do.
A computer is just a glorified telly and they have been around for years.
