"A sexually transmitted virus is responsible for the recent rise in oral cancer, ABC News reports"

- HPV, or human papillomavirus, best known for causing cervical cancer, can also cause cancer in the upper throat.

- nearly 10,000 new cases of oropharyngeal cancer each year.

-overall incidence of the disease has risen by 28 percent since 1988 while other types of head-and-neck cancer have been declining.

if the 'trend' continues, oralcancer will become the nation's main HPV-related cancer within the decade

Hmm funny this comes out right as they are about to make the big push for HPV vaccines for men.

Sometimes I think all this crap is just scare tactics. This vaccine hasn't even been around a decade and I've heard more bad than good.

People need to be more educated and responsible about their sexual activity, get tested often, and use protection. I think these practices could work a lot better than some vaccine that may or may not work, and may or may not cause possibly debilitating side effects.

Just to clarify, is this oral cancer that is supposedly transmitted via HPV from women to men as a result of cunnilingus?
