Yes...Fox is so known to over-react to protect Obama

Hank is an idiot...deal with it.

I never said he wasn't an idiot. But the reactions to his comments place everyone who is straining over themselves in contrived outrage squarely in his camp.

No wonder political discourse is so dead in this country.

Proof of concept: "They’re the enemy . . . Obama! And Biden! Are you kidding? The Three Stooges.” (from the article)

I can just hear him in my head now singing "Are ya reddie for sum math quiz?"

The only people I see outraged in this thread are the ones that are trying to defend Hank.

I'm seriously LMAO that he stuck his foot in his mouth and is suffering the consequences.

Megan Fox got fired from Transformers 3 for comparing the director to Hitler. Its the employers prerogative to fire someone they feel crossed the line.

It's not censorship, Hank Williams can still call Obama Hitler all he wants, he can buy his own billboards and radio ads, print flyers etc. It just won't be at ESPN because obviously they wants nothing to do with it.

Well yes...he did.

You know it's bad when the Fox and Friends crew is offended about your remark about Obama.

He is getting what he deserves...if you act stupid...you suffer the consequences.

they aren't offended about what is said about obama, they are pissed off that any non jew would liken anything whatsoever to the hollowcaust.....abe foxman loves to slap the wrists of world leaders that liken their own genocides to the hollowcaust

This guy choosing this time and place to say these things, is pretty much as dumb as someone telling their overweight spouse not to eat so much at a big dinner event, using the PA system in front of 50 people..

Even though they were both speaking the truth..

I'm hardly outraged.

But I'll leave you paint-by-numbers folks to your sense of vindication in support of your presidential hero.

Listen to how the media berates him after his comments on Fox & Friends...

Amazingly, I agree with you Outkast. I view this as the same way I viewed country stations coast to coast refusing to play the Dixie Chicks after their inanely idiotic comments about President Bush, the same way I viewed Bill Maher getting fired from ABC for voicing his assinine comments of pseudo praise towards terrorists, the same way I viewed CBS refusing to sell commercial time to moveon.org for the SuperBowl, and the same way I viewed AT&T choosing not to air Eddie Vedder's dunce headed comments about Bush during their webcast of a Pearl Jam concert. These are all corporations, not government entities. As such, they have the right to hire, fire, retain, air, or censor anyone who is on their media.

Nice to see you in agreement with me on all of these examples of censorship of stupid comments by the corporations who initially offered the imbeciles the platform to begin with!

To me it seems like he is attempting to point out the vast differences between the two. If it was me, I wouldn't have chosen that comparison. I am in no way defending him or Fox News, because I despise them both.

While its not technically a violation of free speech, I do think its a low blow..just like what happened with the BART protests.

Well,

How about this freedom of speech example by:

(from 2008 Obama campaign speech !)

.....So, it depends on where you are, but I think it’s fair to say that the places where we are going to have to do the most work are the places where people feel most cynical about government. The people are mis-appre…I think they’re misunderstanding why the demographics in our, in this contest have broken out as they are. [color=limegreen]Because everybody just ascribes it to ‘white working-class don’t wanna work — don’t wanna vote for the black guy.’ That’s…there were intimations of that in an article in the Sunday New York Times today – kind of implies that it’s sort of a race thing......

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. [color=limegreen]So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.

Obama Speech

Classic case of Hoof-in-Mouth disease

Gives a new meaning to "Chickens com'n home to roost"

Why are people so surprised to agree with me

And I do agree with you on all those examples. If people want to express their controversial opinions, they will have to face the consequences. As long as it is a private company doing the "censoring"...that is fine by me.

Hank Jr wasn’t comparing Obama to Hitler. He was pointing out the pointlessness of that round of golf between Obama and Boehner, which solved nothing.Over reaction out of fear.

Exactly correct!!! He was pointing out the absurdity of two leaders on different ends of the spectrum not getting anything done for the American people.

He did not in any way directly compare Obama to Hitler. Now, the main stream media is running with it and saying he did. I just watched ABC nightly news air the story and they said Williams compared Obama to Hitler. What a bunch of bull #.

I swear to god, the main stream media in this country has more # coming out of their mouths than I do coming out of my butt.

Hank looked like a drooling moron when he had his little slip up.
That was about the dumbest thing I have ever witnessed.

Besides our friends on ATS and maybe the last ruler.

I have to say that after hearing the recording, he does sound like a blithering idiot. So much so that even the Fox people seemed taken aback. That is bad.

Wow, so much for freedom of speech.

Don't be stupid. He spoke his mind. No one stopped him. He faces no legal repercussions from the govenrment at all. Rather, his employer says "I don't like what you said, and i'd rather not have you representing our business anymore."

His free speech is protected; however so is his employers'.

Instead, ESPN announced on Monday afternoon that the famous “Are You Ready for Some Football?” intro will not be part of tonight’s Monday Night Football broadcast after Williams made comments likening President Obama to Adolf Hitler
profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...

Maybe ESPN should stop signing on these slackjawed dumbasses who they think appeal to the "middle American" demographic? They keep going sour on 'em.

incidentally, I watched hank Williams' interview... I'm no expert, but, well, either he needs to lay off the pre-breakfast vodka, or go get a cat scan. There was something just... weird about it

Hitler - Militaristic fascist whose career hinged on destroying those he considered subhumans, in the name of furthering "the chosen people"

Netanyahu - Militaristic fascist whose career hinged on destroying those he considered subhumans, in the name of furthering "the chosen people"

I don't think Hank did a very good job of trying to do what you think he's trying to do. I think he just wanted to squeeze in "OBAMMER ISH HITLUR!" somewhere.

He did not in any way directly compare Obama to Hitler.

Corollary to Godwin's law; the man who brings Hitler or Nazis into an unrelated argument first, is considered the loser of that argument.

Now, the main stream media is running with it and saying he did.

I always love this vague "mainstream media" tag. it's so generic and all-purpose! It never includes my favored media source, it's only your favored media source! it's like a news hipster version of the No True Scotsman.

I just watched ABC nightly news air the story and they said Williams compared Obama to Hitler. What a bunch of bull #.

Now, Godwin's law and No True Scotsman aside, this is what Hank Williams said: "Obama playing golf with Boehner is like Hitler playing golf with Netanyahu."

it is, in fact, a direct comparison to Hitler. Stop deluding yourself.

I swear to god, the main stream media in this country has more # coming out of their mouths than I do coming out of my butt.

...At this moment? Good lord, man.
