That was confusing, and tense. At first I thought they said she was guilty, the next thing she's free.

She's been painted in a very bad light over the last few years.

I didn't think she'd pull it off. I'm stunned.

Well... What can I say other than this is what the judicial system came up with so...

My thoughts and prayers are with the Kercher family.

Rest in Peace Meredith.

Very good news . She was the victim of an insane prosecutor , and sensational press coverage . Good verdict.

Yes, the guilty of murder was overturned, but then guilty of false accusations against her boss. Then the sentencing. It goes quick here.

Well it's done. Wow.

It's my opinion she was guilty as sin.

Was justice served? No, I do not think it was.

People outside the courtroom are going wild in anger. So am I in my little way I guess, but, it's over.

VERGOGNA!

(shame!)

Vergogna...

Thank God. So obvious that she and her boyfriend were not there that night. Not one single shred of DNA, not a hair, not a skin cell. This should never have happened in the first place. Again, Thank God.

Involved yes. Actually the hand on the knife that killed Meredith? I can't even begin to give an opinion on that. But do I think she was there and culpable (at fault)? Yes.

And I don't think little 'Harry Potter' Italian style is any less guilty either.

I honestly believe if forensics here (in Italy) had done a more professional job they would not have been freed.

They just said she was innocent of the murder of Meredith. What makes some folk think the opposite? Is it just because she looks a bitchy type, or like someone said yesterday, - she's like Jessica Rabbit, painted the wrong way?

How can you say that with no evidence to even show she was ever there. How do you have wild sex that turned into murder and not shed a single hair or skin cell in the process? Was she seran wrapped from head to toe while she did it? Sorry this was all done by Rudy Guede. His DNA was all over the place. Just like you'd expect during a fight. The idot prosecutor who sees demon worship in every corner should be put out to pasture. What a dolt.

Its kind of interesting to me that so far in this thread, it seems like the Europeans generally tend to think she was guilty, while Americans tend to think she was innocent. Its most likely a coincidence based on the fact that not many people have posted so far, but it makes me wonder if the style of reporting in different parts of the world has something to do with the general opinion over this case.

What about the chances of influence on opinion due to it being an American on trial in Europe? I'm impartial/indifferent to the case tbh but I thought that would be an interesting thing to consider.

Media.
Misinformation.
Murder.
The 3 M's that DO NOT mix.

You asked how could they have wild sex and not shed any dna? Because the whole sex angle was blown WAY out of proportion from the get go.

Did you know there was no evidence of rape or sexual assault? It was all media hype!

see this link (...It's a view supported by a new postmortem ordered by the investigating magistrate, which this week concluded there is no evidence of rape or violent sexual assault...) (From link)

Now, putting all that aside - you asked for my opinion.

What I have to go on is watching the thing from the get go. Being here. And - watching how tourists act when they’re here on vacation.
Especially young American tourists.
No, I'm not racists I'm using Amanda's peers as the group I base my opinion on. And these kids and adults - do things (here) they NEVER would have do back home. It's like, well, it’s just like they treat 'here' like a theme park. Like nothing they do matters. Like there is no accountability.

My gawdddd what better evidence do I have to support my claim (above) than her own behavior! You find out your roommate has been stabbed to death and what do you do? A few cartwheels followed by the splits at police (Caribinieri) headquarters?

Add to that all the behaviorism(s) of Amanda. Drunk. High. Acting like an out of control 'dolt' (to use your words).

All this adds up to me = she was there and that makes her responsible. What extent did she play in the murder? I don’t know. But I do not believe either she, or her ‘ex’ are innocent.

Remember also it took Meredith over 2 hours to die. There were many ‘hesitation’ cuts on her body. Also marks of strangulation. To me that adds up to a female attacker.

As for no dna and evidence? The forensics here screwed up the scene so bad (even on camera!) Big Foot could have killed Meredith and left not a hair behind.

Best case scenario for Amanda? It’s my opinion she was there - at least at the beginning. She knew whatever was going on in there was turning bad. She participated, and then got scarred and ran. And that’s the best case scenario I can come up with for her.

Worst case and what lays closer to my heart? She participated in killing her ‘friend’ Meredith.

So. It’s over. Very badly done all the way around. On all sides. But. It’s over.

I said Europeans "generally." I wasn't counting you

I wondered about that too. Maybe its just as simple as an "us vs them" situation. Americans might tend to side with her because she's American, while Europeans might tend to side against her because she was accused of killing a European (I know Meredith was English, but I'm just speaking in general terms here).

As a German I don't feel that I have enough insight to be the judge, although I started to study all the pros and contras in the internet when I heard about that case again - last year or so.
I tend to think "Not guilty", but that is just a feeling.

But it shows the Italian justice in a much better light now, since nobody should be treated as guilty, if there are doubts. (Troy Davis also would live, if this basic principle would have been followed.)

The media played their own show in that case, and the Daily Mail did it again:

Daily Mail says "Guilty"

Toecurling...

Journalist Peter Popham now reports thugs in Perugia "baying for Amanda's blood".

Another one wrote, that the booing crowd infront of the court was organized and police in plain clothes were identified.

Was for me.

Yes I'm British and should have a loyalty of sorts to the Kercher family but I never believed Knox did it. Out of the three, I honestly always believed she was the innocent party and the lack of real evidence and the bungling of those forensics and police at the scene ensured she spent time in jail and being persecuted for no reason.

Justice done for the Knox family and hopefully the Kerchers won't be too mad because they still found the other two guilty and they always seemed like they were the real perpetrators anyway so justice has been done for Meredith's family too.

Yes, there was an extraordinary umber of plain clothes about. To help with riots? Or gawkers like the rest? I don't think it's known. But, the Vergogna? Was cried out in many voices - male and female. I would think a few of Meredith's followers? Or maybe directed at the prosecutor who's in hot water over another case also.

Regardless, this morning there's a lot of hate aimed Amanda's way. Yes, they're 'crying for her blood' and many chants of 'Assassina'. You can pretty much bet she's already out of the country though. I can't imagine they waited until morning. It was even reported the family had a plane on standby during the reading of the verdict.
