Thanks for the info and link
First time checking into this and it is indeed very interesting. You can see a huge release right when the impact occur.

Upload the picture onto ATS ------------------ Or specify which picture.

I don't have time to look through individual pictures for some possible debris going past a camera.

follow the OP's instructions and choose slideshow mode, from about frame 20 to 78 and click faster if your stuck for time...

I thought comets we're made of ice [/sarcasm] anyone have any idea what it actually is? and the timing of the next solar event is no coincidence, not by a long shot.

Looks a little bigger than bug splatter on a windshield to me, looks more like a bird just got whacked.

SUNDIVING COMET: A comet is diving into the sun today. Discovered on Sept. 29th by a group of four independent comet hunters (M. Kusiak, S. Liwo, B. Zhou and Z. Xu), the icy visitor from the outer solar system is evaporating furiously as it approaches the hot star. SOHO (the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) is monitoring the death plunge:

The doomed comet appears to be a member of the Kreutz family. Kreutz sungrazers are fragments from the breakup of a single giant comet many centuries ago. They get their name from 19th century German astronomer Heinrich Kreutz, who studied them in detail. Several Kreutz fragments pass by the sun and disintegrate every day. Most, measuring less than a few meters across, are too small to see, but occasionally a big fragment like this one attracts attention. [latest images]

There should be a time period of 6 months for freshman members,.
they would not be allowed to post till they learn more of the world and universe.
this way, things like this thread of a comet hitting the sun would not be presented
without understanding what they are seeing first..
Seems to be quite the issue as of late.
No searching of the ATS history..
