Coming in from huffington post.

Sloan Churman, 29, was born deaf. Until recently, she had never heard the sound of her own voice. But thanks to a hearing implant, Churman was finally given that ability. Watch the powerful video below in which Churman hears herself speaking for the first time.

How can she speak without an impediment if she was born deaf?

Very powerful video. I will never take my hearing for granted again.

I'm glad to see we are still developing technology which HELPS people rather than maiming/killing them.

There is a high chance that someone who is deaf from birth will not be able to flex the vocal chords properly due to them not hearing themselves. However, this is not always the case. There are many different variables which must be taken into account.

It really makes me long for the day when all who want to hear be able to hear!

Did anyone else watch this vid and notice something very sad.... although this was an incredible moment for this woman, did you notice how the employee/nurse or whoever she was did not touch, caress or hug this woman at this incredible moment?????

As I watched this I longed to just reach out my hand in compassion with a touch instead, they gave her a tissue....

Coming from a Corporate background in management I know that the reason this was so was because our corporations have had to stop human contact because of lawsuits and etc.... This was something that really kinda made me sad for this beautiful moment...
