I just got the flu shot, how soon will I die?

When will you die? Hard to say. Don't drink and drive. If you got the shot in a"poor" part of town, history shows that chances of death may be greater.

Actually if you read my post, you would realize it is my cousin that is autistic. And I am not making fun of the autism, I am making fun of alarmist theories.

Alarmist theories based on speculations do not really bring comfort to people affected by conditions. My brother almost died from spinal meningitis. If you have read my posts in other forums you would have known that I have Multiple Sclerosis, so I understand firsthand about wild theories, though well intentioned, that are not accurate and does not help.

The polio vaccine actually helped diminish the polio epidemic and small pox is making a comeback, but only in groups of people who have not had the vaccine. Overall, vaccines do help, but there will be people who do get sick from them. Doctors do not know why this happens.

This is a tough subject, but it is like nuclear power plants. Even though the risk is great, the benefits must be greater.

How is the flu shot suppose to help you.? It is for last years strain. I would say you have the same mentality as avid smokers. Personally I don't care if you pick your own poison and could care less about how many years will be taken off you life. That is up to you. Just because you are in denial and want to ignore the dangers doesn't make people who do care all crazy.

Funny reading through the comments and the possible sarcasm in the original post. Assuming it's sarcasm. Here's a straight answer, the shot will help you not likely to kill you. It's the nasal spray you have to worry about luckily those aren't being used at the moment. Complaints of nausea caused by a preservative in the spray. The flouride in your water will ruin your teeth judging your tooth paste has flouride in it and you brush 2-3 times a day. To much flouride is bad so if in doubt, switch to a brand of toothpaste called "Toms." No flouride. All problems solved right there and aliens will not anal probe you in your sleep. I intentionally did not indent this paragraph for the purpose of annoying some people.

Yes, it was sarcasm. I don't think other people caught that it was sarcasm, because as they say, sarcasm does not read well online. And your non-indentation did not bother me at all.

The part that I was not being sarcastic about was the nuclear energy statement. I was trying to tie that in with my post. There are some things we really have to decide what is beneficial for society as a whole and it is hard to make that judgment call. There are people who are helped by the vaccinations and there are people harmed, the same as nuclear energy. I appreciate that many cities rely on nuclear energy, but a meltdown can destroy a city.

I fully understand that vaccinations harm people but I also know that it helps people, so how do we as a society learn to effectively use the vaccines. I don't want to see one person harmed, but I also don't want to take away from someone who may be helped. What do we do as a society? That is a tough discussion with no clear answers.

Did the polio vaccine help or not? Did the small pox vaccine help or not? These are things we have to think about. Let's say this, 500 people get polio vaccine, 497 are helped but 3 are not. Those 3 should have been helped, I agree. But if we said no, let's not do it and all 500 get polio, then we have denied help to 497 people.

That is the point I am trying to make. How do we help those that the vaccines are indeed a benefit for? We can't know beforehand whether or not someone is going to have a bad reaction or none at all. I get whole "public health scare", but I also know people who had polio when the epidemic hit. Their parents refused to have them vaccinated because of the same issues raised. They thought it was an intrusion on their private faith and way of life.

As much as I do not agree with the public health scare tactics, I also do not like the opposite health alarmism raised by critics. How do we weigh out the pros and cons? Nobody should get the flu shot because it harms others even though it may be beneficial to more? That is the tough call.

That is a misunderstanding of how evolutionary biology works. It is not the treatments that cause the mutation. The genetic mutation occurs as a result of any one or more of many mutagenic factors like gamma or ultraviolet radiation, environmental toxins, etc. Lifeforms are constantly mutating. I suppose a good start would be to list all the chemicals used in each vaccine then do a comparison to known alergens. Second step would be to have every person wanting the vaccinations take a allergen test. This is a tough one because there are so many uncommon alergens it's really all trial and error. When people get shots they just need to pay attention to thier health, any quick changes, seek medical attention. Thousands die every year because they ignored thier symptoms. Not sure what else to say, been thinking about this question since my previous post. lol
About your cousins child, I was reading a article about autism possibly being reccessive. If I can find that article again I'll link it.

Yes, that would make sense to at least list the chemicals. We have to do that with food already so I don't see why we should not do that with medicine also. Even bottled water has to show the ingredients. You have made so good points there.
