This past weekend, as some of you may have heard/read, the police acted on peaceful protestors during Occupy Wall Street. This journalism piece by
Lawrence O'Donnell on the videos that have come out really impressed me, so I thought I'd share.
I was there on the first day, then subsequently came back a week later on the day the police reacted to part of the group marching toward Union
Square. At the height of the night, back in Zuccotti Park on Liberty St where the protest is holding, there were more police officers than I had ever
seen in my life time. They had those orange nets with them, too. They backed off after hours of lining up, shuffling around their numbers, and driving
by in lines of squad cars and trucks with sirens blaring.
I go back when I can, but I commend those that stay day and night.
