I signed up, today, for the chicks!

Really though, I've read ATS for a little while and decided for no good reason to finally sign up. I'm interested in 9/11, political conspiracy, cover-ups, real-world issues. Often, by the time I read a thread any comments I would have made have already been stated, usually in a far more eloquent manner than I could muster, so until today I've been content to simply observe.

I have a strong need to know the truth of a thing. Some years ago after watching the evening news twist stories in order to manipulate my beliefs I began to feel a strong anger deep inside. The nerve that the media would lie to me by manipulation of words; How dare they think I am so stupid that I would follow blindly a lie. How dare they deliberately omit parts of, or entire stories to keep me uninformed or misinformed. And they continue and it gets worse. CNN, MSNBC to the left and FOX to the right. I thought somewhere in the middle is the truth. I was even wrong about that. There is no truth in them. So I began to search the net many hours, and slowly found that there was truth. But unfortunately it was known to only a few. I began to follow ATS because I was noticing far too many things that didn't feel right about our world. Police using deadly force on unarmed and defenseless citizens. Our government spending money it does not have. Building brand new roads over brand new roads, calling it progress. Lying about the rate of inflation, and the deficit as well as the unemployment rate.
So after I found ATS I found a range of views from far left to right and everything in between. If a Thread had no substance it became obvious right away and I could go elsewhere. I have found more TRUE breaking news stories and found them faster here on ATS than anywhere else on the net or on TV. I don't need pictures but I do need substantial documentation so I can decide on my own the truth of a thing. Enter ATS. I can weave through all the garbage and separate the wheat from the chaff rather than listening to a one sided diatribe on the national news.
A special thanks to all the posters here whether I agree with them or not. I am more informed now than I have ever been. I lurked about just reading for a very long time, then joined near the start of 2011. Sometimes I am just entertained. Other times I get fumed. Others, I just plain laugh, and once in a great while I can help someone myself.. A big thanks to ATS
DH

Wouldn't it be cool if someone replied to this thread with "this thread made me join because of the irony".

In all seriousness, I found ATS a long time ago when I believed there was a ghost in my house, I have always been fascinated with the paranormal...anyway, no ghost, just a noisy house. Then all of the alien threads caught my attention and after reading a few abduction stories, I was so interested in what the point would be to make any of that up, I don't really enjoy being called a liar and accused of having a mental disorder, why would anyone make that stuff up?

Then I got to reading everything else ATS had to offer and I was hooked, and a particular thread about capital blue shorts 22 and his intergalactic travels, I just had to speak up.

I lurked around for a few years, "dipping my toes" in the "Conspiracy pool". I come from an old Utah pioneer family and was raised to ALWAYS QUESTION EVERYTHING. I guess my late father is partially to blame
He told stories of some government coverup in central Utah in the late 20's and again in the 50's involving anthrax outbreaks blamed on sheep populations in Central Utah/ Ephraim area. Long story short: Dad's family were sheep ranchers from the late 1860s. In the 1950s, my grandfather and great uncles were up on the mtn and saw soldiers in army uniforms and gas masks/ whatever. They were too far away ,( down the mtn a ways in a jeep), and my family on horseback, for them to inquire what was happening. Within a week, there was an outbreak of anthrax, eventually blamed on the local sheep population. All of the sheep within several hundred square miles were culled, my family's entire source of income gone. Turns out our trusty US gov decided to run a live " test", and released weaponized anthrax in the general vicinity. Too bad it took over 30 years to prove it. As a kid I thought my Dad was nuts, but now I am grateful to him for helping open my eyes. Often wish he was here so I might thank him, but I digress........

I joined ATS after every search I did on aliens, ufos, Mars or Ancient Egypt led me here.

I signed up and never left!!! I am always on ATS, it's the only forum I have ever actively participated on. It was really nice to meet people with the same thoughts and views, it made me seem less crazy.

I was searching the internet for a tyre service provider.

And the rest is history...

Did you ever get the tyre situation sorted?

I actually visited the James Randi forum quite often and stumbled upon a post that mentioned ATS. So I clicked here and voila! Haven't been back to that forum in quite a bit

I stumbled on this site while researching Bob Lazar, the guy who came out and said he worked on reverse-engineering a UFO near Area 51.

I looked around, found like-minded individuals, and have been here ever since...(10 years in December)...

I came here looking for intelligent conversation on issues that simply needed addressing for me. I have found that most of the conspiracy issues I used to delve into have turned out to be more hysteria than fact.

Everything from aliens and UFOs(Which so few instances have any real merit) to the 9/11 conspiracy theories that I just simply can't buy into(especially since the discussion always goes away from facts and figures to insults and BS).

The only issues I deal with now are political issues, financial issues(who's conspiracies have far more meat than not ), and being the FSME at the Weapons and Tactics forum.

I did a search for something, of which I cannot remember, and was brought here. I was drawn to the writing forum and read many of the short stories and was kind of blown away by the talent I saw. That was the initial draw but since I love to read, I read pretty much everything else on here and have a great deal of respect for many members here. I appreciate the intelligence of ATS members. I have many varied interests and something made me want to post a reply so I joined right away. I got through kind of a tough time in my life after losing two close family members and then I had quit a job I hated and so I spent a whole year, including a long cold winter, reading, learning and researching and I think I even made a couple of friends along the way. I'm a better person for it. Thanks ATS!
