Job Loss greeting cards introduced by Hallmark

www.examiner.com

Hallmark says it’s a way to provide individuals with comfort during a stressful time. With unemployment remaining at over 9% in the United States, someone at Hallmark – who likely still has a job – came up with an interesting idea. Time will tell if the idea sells.

In what seems to be a very awkward business move, Hallmark Greeting Cards company has released a new line of cards for individuals to send to people who have lost a job. Do people really want to go to the mailbox while being out of work and find out who has learned of their bad news? Not everybody would.

This is a crying shame, we have to have these. Why can't we just have a stable market ? If only America's jobs would get out of China.I keep thinking vote Ron Paul, Ron Paul now........Obama needs to go.

So people aren't going to have the balls to fire somebody face to face anymore, they want it to be over the phone.

That hallmark card would be what would piss me off.....more than the firing...It's like rubbing it in your face.

It's like" hear, use this card to heat your house in the meantime between jobs.. gL "

what a joke

This is one of those ideas might have sounded great when first proposed (wouldn't be surprised if the creative people where high when coming up with this),

But should have been given to an outside party to review.

I agree with you. Hallmark found a new product line to help them increase revenue in order to avoid layoffs. I would never fire or layoff an employee of mine by a Hallmark card. The only people I fire or layoff are the unproductive ones.

I have to remember this thread the next time Hallmark lays people off.

Sad, sad, sad.

How will anyone afford these cards?

In seriousness, i think this is ridiculous. Why is someone going to want to be reminded about losing their job.

I would give the card back and ask them "why the hell they were sorry about something like that"

At that point who needs pity?

The person needs a job, or a potential lead.

These cards look and read like something that would be posted on FB, not something someone would spend money on. I wonder how the Greeting Card business is going these days?

If my neighbor lost his job, I would send him one of these. If I fired an employee with kids, I would not send them one of these cards.

Is it bad taste? Maybe. Is it funny? Heck yeah!

Just because you're scraping savings and living paycheck to... ok just scraping savings now, doesn't mean you can't laugh! For $5.99 + tax, of course.

See, I came up with a card too! Buy my idea!

I like the idea.

Why spend money on a card when saying "you're fired" is free? I guess it's to avoid workers from going postal in the office

Hallmark just discovered yet another way to make money off of somebody's misery.
And here I thought just the government knew how to do this!

Unfortunately, think of it this way: Hallmark had to find a substitution to replace all of the "Congrats on your promotion," "Happy Boss/Secretary Day", "Happy New Hiring," etc. that was taken over by the current state of affairs...Still, very untasteful, indeed.

Hi, this is just to let you know we had to fire you. We thought it would be less confrontational and dangerous than a face to face encounter. Our manager responsible for firing people is also still on holiday in the Bahama's.
But, looking on the bright side..
Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Have a nice day!
