The Sky just went bright for a flash...9-25-11 1:23 am

Did it look anything like this?

Most likely. one of these two things.... bolide or heat lightning Did it look like either of these?

This first video shows how incredibly bright bolides can be ...this would scare me to death!

Wow, that Bolide video is the closet thing to it, the light might have been a little brighter, and the duration shorter, but that white light that covers everything is exactly what I saw in St. Pete anyways...

There were a LOT of thunderstorms rolling thru Illinois last night and with all the lightning and thunder going on at 1 AM on Sept.25 in Illinois, it was LIGHTNING.

I seen the exact same thing today but I am in scotland i cant remember the time but i believe it was about 8 or 9ish GMT dont know what time that is compared to the ops. Anyone else in britain see this?

DrZrD - awesome post, never even heard of what you posted about, I'll be reading up on your linkages!

I'm about 30 miles straight west of the Chicago lakefront, was outside around that time, didn't see anything. Seems like a few people from central, to southern IL/Missouri saw it, figured I'd chime in to say we didn't see it as far north as where I am.

On the boldie(sp?) theory, we have been seeing a few shooting stars every night the past week or so, and we have a LOT of light pollution here, so its not that common to see them outside of a good solid meteor shower.

not sure if somebody else said this, but it could be related to this...

Isn't that what happened in the original video from Florida of that strange rumbling sound? The sound last for like 20 minutes and then stopped with a huge flash?

What the hell is causing this stuff?

If it was an emp I doubt the op could use his/her computer, and I doubt he would have electricity at all. This was probably a meteor, or metorite.

Hmm I've had a similar event here in Florida before, I was driving back home from a long trip down the east coast, and there was, what i thought to be, a small storm going on.

Then suddenly the sky lit up almost like daylight again, and you heard a huge hum noise travelling from far, to close probably within a 2 second time frame, in which i felt a vibration much like a massage chair go right through my car (i felt it in my brain!! >.

A few nights back when I was looking into the sky, I witness a flash next to Jupiter it wasn't bright enough to cover the entire sky, but just a small flash..maybe a ship entering hyperspace?

Saw something very similar here in Denver at around 11:30 PM 9-25-11. No clouds in the sky just stars and saw a bright flash of light in the sky. Couldn't have been a falling star or lightning. My friend and I didn't know what to make of it then I saw this thread so wondering if it might be related even though it happened approx 24 hours later.

I live in central indiana and I can tell you we had thunder and lightening showers last night, coming from your direction.

Central Illinois here, didn't see anything of the sort at the time.

The night we saw it there WAS no lightning strikes in the area.
Nice try.
It was not heat lightning either.
The meteor video was almost dead on however.

I am in northwest chicago suburb area and witnessed the flashing too, but this was on September 17th at 8:45 pm. After the flashing, there were orange orb like objects cascading across the sky in a linear direction. The first orbs to come out were in a triangle formation. After the triange were singe orbs shooting out from the same direction of the lightning type flash.

There was no sound or no trails, just these floating orbs. Went on for 15 minutes then stopped. After the orbs stopped, a weird cloud like pattern came in the same direction of the orbs, a sort of streaking motion.

Please excuse the cursing, I was in the moment.

Sounds like an overloaded transformer.
I remember like 3 years ago me and my friends were sitting on his porch listening to the radio when all of a sudden we hear a sound that kinda reminds me of the old internet dial up, then 5 seconds later there was a super bright flash with no noise and as soon as it happened it was gone
we followed the light from where we saw it. His backyard is a school and it turns outit was a transformer and these things are common during the day due to all the energy we use, but more rare at night because people are sleeping and not using electricity
