URGENT: NASA: U.S. back in UARS satellite strike zone!!!!

At 12:55:17 AM EDT NASA said ... "is working to confirm the re-entry location and time and will provide an update shortly."
This was approximately 40 minutes ago! For me "shortly" is over!!! They still do not know what's going on I think!

I am impatiently awaiting the update from NASA. I'm not a very patient person...kinda getting sleepy. *yawn* I hope it's soon!

as of 1236am cdt You should be able to see it right now, where you are saying...to the west heading northeast.
(according to the tracking site I am monitoring that is)

I have been reading as this thread progressed, and I am a bit confused....

Didn't NASA say that they would continue to update and when the final area was known they would update and let us know? There has been no update since 7:30.

I would assume they would at the very least update that it crashed after the fact....

So did it crash? Not crash?

Exactly. I have it in austrailia right now again, going along the beach area there and heading towards u.s.a.

On here, the thing has not went over hawaii yet, but i'm sure you most definately see it now, do you?, according to this anyways. IT will pass by hawaii shortly.

Not sure, but I am on the big island of hawaii and saw a satellite go speeding by overhead about 4 minutes ago heading northeast, does this make sense per tracking?

Yes, it was overhead coming from the southwest going northeast.

NORAD is not in charge of tracking commercial or other aircraft. The FAA does that.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. So NORAD knows exactly what blip is what on the radar and has them neatly labeled. Which means they ARE monitoring it.

Didnt some pro golfer go off course and have 2 jets escort him back on course. I didnt know the FAA has access to military jets lol.

Is anyone else finding the lack of timely information from NASA a little unnerving? Are these the kind of updates we might expect if we ever were in real danger?

would you remember exact time? Did it look brighter than most satellites to you?

It past hawaii and is now on it's way to upper canada. This time it is in a big , big hurry, I think it is time for the fall. I wonder if it will reach canada, it's still over the ocean.

Re-entry was expected between 11:45 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, and 12:45 a.m., Sept. 24, Eastern Daylight Time (3:45 a.m. to 4:45 a.m. GMT). During that time period, the satellite was passing over Canada and Africa, as well as vast areas of the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian oceans. The risk to public safety was very remote. The risk to public safety was very remote. NASA is working to confirm the re-entry location and time and will provide an update shortly.


but..

are they CONFIRMING that UARS has crashed now or are they just saying that they are working to confirm WHERE the re-entry location and time will be? Meaning that they are working to get an idea where this thing is coming down?

I have to say I am pretty much confused as to whether UARS has broken up and the show is over or whether it is still up there - if its still up there - I cant go to bed!!!! YET!!!

Yes, it was almost the same magnitude as Sirus, best guess at the time was 729 pm HST

oops, it is traveling alot faster than i thought, NOW ENTERING CANADA. WOW, this thing is traveling really,really,really fast.
