Why, ATS? Why Do You Persist!?

Why, ATS? Why do you do it? Why get up? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something? For more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Could it be for love? Illusions, ATS? Vagaries of perception. The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose. And all of them as artificial as Humanity itself. Although, only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love. You must be able to see it, ATS. You must know it by now. You can't win. It's pointless to keep fighting. Why, ATS, Why? Why do you persist?

This is perhaps one of the more prophetic movie scenes I have come across, and it seems to be more relevent now than ever. Why do you want to keep fighting for your beliefs, why not give up and join the sheeple? It's so much easier to just go with the flow. WHY?!

It's meant to be ironic, and it is a very relevent question. No one is going to keep posting forever when they feel like they're fighting a losing battle. But what makes someone persist and continue to fight for their beliefs?

A. They know they are right.
B. Cognitive dissonance kicks in and causes mental conflict so they "must" argue their case.
C. Human nature in finding great difficulty in admitting to being wrong (accompanied with a hefty dose of arrogance)

B is the largest by far.....but I only believe that

Because that is the way of man.

When there were no animals to hunt, we persisted with farms and domesticating animals.
When there was no way of knowing our universe, we persisted with knowledge and look what we have now.

Humans persist, that is what we do. ATS members are human, persistent little buggers aren't we?
