The CIA Really Wants to Make Hollywood's Next Blockbuster

gizmodo.com

Are you an aspiring filmmaker who wants to produce a spy thriller? Well, you're in luck because the CIA has a pile of script ideas lying around.

Ironic, you say, that an organization known for secrecy is doling out helpful hints to Hollywood? The CIA doesn't think so. For them it's all about image control. And they're just the start of it. The Department of Defense and just about every branch of the military has an entertainment industry liaison similar to the CIA's.

Is the CIA writing scripts simply to keep a accurate light on US military or is there more to it? Many of us have seen the parallels between real life and the movies and now there is a direct correlation.

Hollywood has been working with government organizations to make more credible films for years (for instance, Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount Pictures worked closely with the Pentagon when filming the 1986 blockbuster "Top Gun"). But the phenomenon is under newfound scrutiny. There was a bit of a kerfuffle recently when some in the press and in Congress speculated about whether the government will give Sony Pictures any pointers while they make a film about the killing of Osama bin Laden.

In a letter to the Defense Department and CIA last month, Rep. Peter King expressed outrage at the Pentagon's relationship with the film's director, Kathyrn Bigelow. King claimed that she had already been made privy to sensitive information that could put American lives at risk. (King may have also have been thinking about the fact that the movie is scheduled to hit theaters one month before America decides whether or not to reelect President Obama.)

I will repeat what I just said in the chat room.
I have never seen a big Hollywood blockbuster....not even star wars.
Regardless of if its CIA or not....I don't want to be manipulated and have things put in my head by our dumb half retarded society.
The amount of people on ats who see a movie and call conspiracy make me do a huuuuuge facepalm and makes me happy I chose what i have chose.
I am glad i don't bother and can think for myself without having the tv tell me what i should watch because its the latest big thing.

Turn your tv off folks.

I dontknow, it seems like some people are discovering that the US government sudden has put money in the pocket of movie makers. As mentioned in a thread last week. Propangda movies started in earnest about the time of WWII and have never stopped, just becoming more subtle and sophisticated.

However, they do make serious mistakes of judgment. The fairly recent book "Men Who Stare at Goats" was a CIA backed effort as was the ridiculous movie by the same name. Both efforts were to cover the CIAs efforts in MK-Ultra's use of '___' and in Remove Viewing with which the CIA was THE principle actor (pardon the pun) in both activities. I don't know about the book, but the movie blames the US Army for the '___' part of MK-Ultra and Remote Viewing. Not once is the term CIA mentioned in the movie, not once.

Hollyweird's job isn't to necessarily get it right or wrong. They're job is programming of the masses. And the CIA has been involved with Hollyweird, along with the MSM, as far back as you wanna go. At least now they're semi-admitting to it.

I recall a time when I fantasized about writing and producing Hollywood blockbusters...

I suppose if I ever did make it famous, I would've lost my soul like all the other celebrities. There's a bigger world behind the magic and glamor of Hollywood, and knowing the CIA is behind some if not most certainly sheds some light on its mysteries.

Interesting tidbit: The wands used by witches or sorcerers in folklore were made out of a rare wood called 'Holly'. Now we know the origin of the slogan "Movie Magic"...

Not at all. Actually I said involved with, but close enough. Any google search for CIA influence on Hollywood will turn up plenty of links. But here's one:

The CIA is often credited with 'advice' on Hollywood films, but no one is truly sure about the extent of its shadowy involvement.

Body of Lies...

This is soft soaped of course, but a bit of research will give you some ideas for further research.

Cheers to anyone who ever wondered why actors get paid so much to do such a stupid sideshow type of job that practically anyone could do.

How come your avatar is a squirell with a superman logo? Surely you must of watched abit of Superman to think the picture was worth puting on ATS. As for the OP, well I can just imagine the conversation... "Ok we have all of this money given to us for something useful, so how should we waste it? I know, how about we use it to script some movies on the side".

Perhaps the 'magic' is in the millions of drones that see something and believe it is plausible then, through the power of that collective consciousness of millions if not billions manipulates the universe in such a way to make it happen depending on how many see and believe it.....don't jump all over me peeps, just a passing thought.

Follow the money.
Hollywood execs aren't evil masterminds, however they will sell their souls (and yours) for a buck.

Power = money. It would be easy for any govt agency to influence a hollywood exec with a few tidbits about a rival, some off budget cash, or any number of simple things that aren't mysterious at all.

To think our govt ..especially the CIA, would stoop to proppaganda for any number of reasons is perfectly legitimate.

Get Smart Episode 52
Sort of a reversal though, this time the CIA showed up at the studio wanting to know where the show was getting their ideas from.
