Well, it's pretty bad when your hometown newspaper columnists urge you to drop out of the race for re-election...

President Barack Obama’s got a decidedly downbeat message from his hometown newspaper on Monday – please don’t run for re-election.

The message did not come directly from the Chicago Tribune, but from a distinguished member of its editorial board, veteran columnist Steve Chapman.

Even so, the fact it was printed in the Windy City’s most prominent newspaper – which endorsed Obama in 2008 – is a major blow to the president.

“Someone said that when a man is smitten with a beautiful woman, he should remember that somebody somewhere is tired of her. Likewise, the most inspiring presidents get stale after years of constant overexposure,” wrote Chapman, who said that Democrats have a more-than-able replacement candidate in Hillary Clinton.

He goes on to list the achievements and strengths of the Clintons. Hillary has said she is done with elective politics, however.

She wasn't allowed to win the nomination the first time..why would they change their minds now?

May I ask why this is news or even ATS worthy?
A right wing columnist writes a right wing column and it is surprising?
I hear Sean Hannity is not a huge Obama supporter either. Should I look forward to someone making a thread about that too?

Sure, why not? You read it..I read it. We had the choice..why do you want to take it from others?

Always with the rules..someone always knows best about what I should read.

actually that was a LEFT wing columnist who used to support obama saying these things....

Really it's pretty sad when your own side in your home town starts to hate you.

What makes you say that?

Really it is pretty sad when a guy who regularly writes columns about how Liberals are destroying his country can be called a lefty when it fits your agenda.

The Relevance is in that this same paper supported Barack Obama during the 2008 election not to mention that it's in his home town..

My other point is just because something is not "News Worthy" to you doesn't mean it is not worthy to another...

If someone else wants to read this it is their business.
