Before people begin to deny settler terrorism don't forget the Zionists pioneered terrorism (in some sense) against the British when the British were limiting Jewish imigration into Israel. I don't think I have to mention the attacks of Irgun, Haganah and the Stern Gang and I deffinetely don't have to mention the Deir Yassin massacare. To deny that there is a far-right (often-times extremist) movement within the settlements would be sheer ignorance.

You really are BENT on painting Israel and settlers in the worst possible light.

For many families, the walk home from synagogue on Friday evening provides an enjoyable moment of tranquility after a long week. This past Sabbath, one Jerusalem family’s walk became a nightmare, as they were set upon by an Arab gang determined to cause harm.

The mother of the family, Tzipi, recalled the traumatic event in an interview with Arutz Sheva.

“We were coming back from Sabbath evening prayers with our family and a guest – 10 people in all,” she said. “We were getting near our home, at Shaar HaPrachim [Flowers Gate in Jerusalem’s Old City – ed.] when suddenly a group of five young men with their faces covered and concrete blocks in hand burst out from a nearby alley.”

The group had been attacking nearby security guards, but quickly turned its attention to the helpless family. “They started to stone us. We pressed ourselves against the wall. When that didn’t help, we stood under the roof of a shop, and it took the brunt of the rocks,” Tzipi said.

The family managed to escape unhurt, a fact Tzipi described as “miraculous.” However, she said, while there were no physical injuries, the children are suffering emotional stress due to the trauma.

Nearby Border Police officers did not intervene to stop the attack, she added. The officers later explained that intervening would have been likely to get them in trouble. “Soldiers and Border Police can act only if there’s an immediate threat to life,” she explained.

That protocol could end in death, she warned. “[Rock attacks] are attempted murder for all purposes,” she said. “What are they waiting for, for somebody to be killed?”

On Sunday, Border Police announced that they had caught the gang that attacked Tzipi and her family.

Well - this is the risk with Palestinian plan ,isn't it? I mean - going for unilateral declaration with all the issues - like settlements,refugees,Jerusalem,even borders - unsolved. Fanatics from both sides can push the situation into bloody deep dive with little effort.
There are some settlers (hundreds, actually) that i would be afraid to be near them when they are armed,dreaming about greater Israel and similar stuff. And i am not Arab nor Palestinian. All it will take is another murderer like Goldstein.
And Hamas and co would not like Fatah to have a recognized country while they brought Gaza to what it is today.
All it would take is an attack be several people on some settlement.
Actually further deterioration of situation by extremists would be the most likely outcome unless Palestinian au.. well, government and Israeli government would be 100% interested in preventing this outcome.
I have my doubts in Palestinian side. You surely doubt Israelis intentions. Interesting times are upon us.

Dear gravitational,

I do think it is justifiable to use the term Apartheid when describing Israel and unlike others less brave I say that not only is the West Bank under Apartheid rule but so is Israel proper.

"The Apartheid Wall" is another fair term. The Hebrew term for it is very much like "Apartheid Wall" infact, isn't it?

The main point here is that South Africa really did get the idea for Arpartheid from Israel not the other way around.

This is simply a matter of historical fact.

You may not like historical facts but when honest people read the history of Zionism they come face to face with some shocking facts that present day Zionist want to sweep under the rug and my job is to drag them out and help Americans especially see just how evil Israel really is.

How about that the Palistinians also have their myths about the land in that regoin !

I for one am glad Israel has giving citizens a way to protect themselves the Palestinian "civilians" have had weapons for years including rockets,mortars and bombs now i say we just watch the show let them fight it our once and for all and be done with this who ever wins will own all the land in question. no intervention from any country lets make this a playground fight and let em finish!!

and as for Israel arresting those 9 Palestinian soldiers read what they found in the soldiers homes and research what their plans were then judge or maybe i'm wrong Israel should have let them kill a few Israeli's then killed them but no lets stop innocent lives lost and arrest them before they use the weapons they were found with

I condemn Hamas. But when they fire 1 or 2 rockets, Palestine will get a barrage. What I find amusing is, that surprisingly, Hamas has survived, and hundreds of other CIVILIANS who have done NOTHING get killed.

Touching story but maybe those gentle jewish settlers were walking back to their home that once belonged to those arabs..

Stealing someones home illegally does tend to P### them off..

Technically the palestinians are the squatters. The nation of "Palestine" didn't even exist until after the jews had been taken into slavery by the Romans and carted off to Europe 2000 years ago and then Hadrian Caesar had the temple mount plowed under and renamed Israel "Palestine" to insult the jews.
