(Now I know a more than a few people of religious persuasions are going to read this. Please refrain from posting, and please refrain from posting religious text. I already know thank you, and it will drive away the people I'm interested in answers from.)

Over the last decade, and three times in the last six months I've had people who are in these categories spring interesting revelations onto me.

I'm not asking them this question. I'm not even sort of asking them this question. In the course of a conversation about politics or some event happening, the person says something to the effect of, "If I have to choose sides I'm...."

One atheist said, "I'm going Mormon." This one made me blink. Another said Catholic. A couple of agnostics said they are going back to the Church of their parents, one was going back to his parents synagogue. You get the idea.

The pagans - those peaceful pagans - well. Some of them seem to think what is in store for them isn't so hot, and their reaction isn't exactly peaceful about it.

None of these people are nearly as politically motivated as I am. This is why I find this so very interesting. People who pay attention, and do not particularly extend themselves to be politically motivated beyond the norm in their society have considered what is happening in the World and have CHOSEN A SIDE.

If I had to choose a side, I would just invent Pinke Dianetics or something and be done with it. Would have cup cake Sundays, and October 1st would be lazy holiday day.

I'm not sure ... I understand part of the question is like a game, and the rules of the game are that you have to sort of choose ... but I just can't personally say one way or the other. I'd need to know everything about a faith or religion even to make a joking choice, and even after all that I don't think I would be all that interested in aligning with any particular person.

Religions themselves are cells within cells, too. So even after choosing one, you then have to choose ones within ones. Is like the Matrix only less fun, so I'm keeping my blue pill.

I dont believe in a God....of any kind. But i dont really class myself as an athiest or agnostic.

Is there a word for someone who doesnt believe in bigfoot?? Nope
Is there a word for someone who doesnt believe in Elenin?? Nope
Is there a word for someone who doesnt believe in the paranormal?? Nope

So why label people who dont believe a story from a book?????

The atheists have been the ones to be the most specific about it. They don't believe in God. But they've chosen a religion that they are going to go to if they have to. One that is in line with their cultural beliefs seem to be the important factor in that choice.

I choose the path of PEACE AND LOVE.

I believe in God, but I am not a Christian/Muslim/Jew/etc. etc.
God is not a Christian/Muslim/Jew/etc. etc.

God is an energy, a vibration, a frequency, a mathematical equation of sorts, that fills every crevice, every atom, every cell of this Universe.

He is not a white guy with a white beard choosing who to damn and who to save.

He is Love. He is Unity. He is Empathy. He is Compassion. He is Nature.

Is there a word or a grouping to put someone who believes in all of that?

Perhaps... a 'Human-Being-Kind'?

I never 'pick a side.'
Nothing is ever gained from doing that.

Regardless of the topic, often there will be failed logic, from those on each side of the fence. That being said, I am still not picking a side, but I do wish to make it extremely clear, that....

[color=FFB759]I am not on your side.

I have no idea what this OP is even about.
What is the actual point, that you are attempting to convey here?

Funny, because I don't usually have a side either. So actually, you are on "my side."

However, people are seeing sides drawn up in the World and they are apparently seeing something that makes them think that they may have to pick one. And they have. I find this very interesting.

Just curious here.
Why do you call it→ 'He'??

I would not choose, I would create. Why choose a side when you can create one? IF the world went up in flames because of political unrest (and it seems it's heading that way) I would motivate anyone and everyone who would be willing to rise from the ashes and unify. Sure there would be quarrels and bickers, but we've always had them, some big and some small. I just hope after so many unbalanced equations that it will eventually balance itself out.

I hope this was what you were looking for. In all honesty this made me realise something about myself, I feel good. So... thanks!

Jamie.

You'd get a lot of surprising answers from Christians as well, in the same context.

For instance I point blank flirted with Wicca in college, but both before and after is very staunch conservative Christianity. The seduction was being in control, which is something you're supposed to give up on in most forms of Christianity. (The whys go to reams of verses, and since you didn't want that, I won't. lol)

I see that too kind of, picking sides and stuff.
And well, Why label someone something? There is no purpose of a label really than to insult someone. I believe in what i believe in.

I walk right down the middle of the sides splitting apart.

They seem to be under the impression there won't be time, or that this is more disruptive.

Fair enough.

I do not think God is a "He" with a penis.
Nor do I think Mother Earth is a "She" with a vagina.

These are just interchangeable terms used to give personification to such ideas. I do understand the question though, and I see how this term has perhaps aided in the confusion to What God Is. (Not 'Who God Is.')

But, also, within my personal views of God and such, God is the 'masculine' life giving force, and Earth is the 'feminine' life giving source. (God provides the electricity of life, such as sperm from the father, and the Earth provides the womb and gives birth, such as the mother.)
Hence, Father God and Mother Earth.
They're a great team.
But these are all just words.

One love.

I call myself an atheist. Mainly because the very idea of a being who thinks of itself as a "god" has already made itself less than those it solicits(demands) worship from. So while there may be a being or beings out there who are what some may perceive as a god. It or they are not god to me. It or they are just entities that are different from me. Omniscience or omnipotence does not qualify one for godhood.

So I choose atheism.

I'm not sure what "sides" are available to choose from here, but as I see all Consciousness as being "God," all of Us each a facet of God, all of Us One, creating the Now as We go, I see no sides. All is Consciousness on some level.

Given this... How can I choose a "side?"

I choose not to play this game. I am on my side.

Anyone who tries to force their game on me should be prepared to face the consequences.

And those are limited to what? Christian? Jew? Muslim? Buddhist? Wiccan? Mormon? Catholic? Shinto? Hindu? Dogon? Native American? Voodoo? Just curious. None seems to fit the idea that We are Our own Creators, We are Gods/God. All seem to pinpoint "God" as somewhere outside of Self. All seem to strip power from Us, rather than encouraging Our power to manifest.

Yeah, I don't see Myself picking from any of the traditions of religion that worship some Being outside of Self/All.
