Last night, early the morning of 15 Sept 2011, was very active geologically speaking:

A powerful earthquake struck off Japan's northeastern coast late Thursday, but no tsunami warnings were issued.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.2 magnitude quake struck near the coast of Honshu, about 155 kilometers east of Tokyo, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

***

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude 3.5 quake hit at 2:56 a.m. Thursday. It was 7.2 miles deep and centered 4 miles east of Newport Beach and 38 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

The USGS website shows hundreds of people in the area reported feeling very light shaking.

Orange County authorities say there are no immediate reports of damages or injuries.

***

HAVANA (Reuters) - A magnitude 6 earthquake occurred in the Caribbean Sea off the southern coast of Cuba on Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of any damage on the island.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was centred 67 miles (108 km) southwest of the Cuban town of Campechuela at a depth of 6.6 miles (10 km). The epicentre was about 70 miles (110 km) from the northern coast of Jamaica.

***

A 6.4-magnitude earthquake and dozens of aftershocks shook the walls of homes and office buildings across Vancouver Island and Vancouver Friday. The epicentre was about 80 kilometres south of Port Alice on the northwest side of Vancouver Island. The quake occurred at the relatively shallow depth of 18 km.

***

WELLINGTON — A shallow 6.0-magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of New Zealand's North Island on Thursday, seismologists said, but no tsunami warning was issued.

The quake struck at 7:53 pm (0753 GMT) at a depth of 13 kilometres (eight miles), with the epicentre around 500 kilometres northeast of the town of Gisborne.

I am located in Southern California and we also had the Meteor streak across the skies just prior to all this activity. Somebody else on ATS said that we were supposed to have some kind of doom and gloom scenario today...I didn't pay attention to it but maybe some of you have. Add to this the big mysterious announcement from NASA today (which is just fascinating all by itself!) and I am feeling like...what!?!?!? Does anyone have some kind of unifying theory on all this? Fell free to throw in all the odd earthquakes the US has had the last few days in non-earthquake regions and we have a very strange brew of circumstances...

Yea I felt the one in California. I think the closer we get to the 25th of sept the higher the threat is for Earthquake, Tsunamis, etc... There's a bad moon rising and these next few weeks are not going to be pretty, I can only pray that people find a safe place and have food and water, I pray the good people of this Earth will be saved and that's pretty much all we can do about it.

I am trying so hard to keep my hat on about all this but it is looking very odd to me. I know that as humans we tend to look for patterns in life...it is a survival mechanism hard wired into our genetic makeup...so I really endeavor to keep a level head. I don't want to be the one running around screaming about the sky falling only to end up being a fool. But then again I'm thinking 'what if'...what if these are not just a string of unrelated incidents? What if we are missing the big picture?

There is no sense in running around crying the sky is falling but on the other hand if research shows a possibility for some rough days ahead it doesn't hurt to secure some fresh water, canned food, medicine, etc. Take everything with an open mind and be prepared for the worst.

Here is why they were saying today something might happen.

I got this link from the '188 day thread'.

Supposedly it has been 188 days and LA is due.

But who knows. Anyways here is the graphic in question.

You should always be prepared no matter what.

Better safe than sorry!

Research or no research, prepare for the worst, hope for the best.

Yes! Very hush, hush...Big news conference today at 11 am PDT.

NASA To Announce Kepler Discovery At Media Briefing

Science Journal Has Embargoed Details Until 11 a.m. PDT, Sept. 15

MOFFETT FIELD, Calif. -- NASA will host a news briefing at 11 a.m. PDT, Thursday, Sept. 15, to announce a new discovery by the Kepler mission. The briefing will be held in the Syvertson auditorium, building N-201, at NASA's Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif. The event will be carried live on NASA Television and the agency's website at

www.nasa.gov...

Kepler is the first NASA mission capable of finding Earth-size planets in or near the "habitable zone," the region in a planetary system where liquid water can exist on the surface of the orbiting planet. Although additional observations will be needed to achieve that milestone, Kepler is detecting planets and planet candidates with a wide range of sizes and orbital distances to help us better understand our place in the galaxy.

A representative from Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm Ltd., will join a panel of scientists to discuss the discovery. The briefing participants are:
--Charlie Sobeck, Kepler deputy project manager, Ames Research Center
--Nick Gautier, Kepler project scientist, NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, Calif.
--Laurance Doyle, lead author, SETI Institute, Mountain View, Calif.
--John Knoll, visual effects supervisor, ILM, San Francisco.
--Greg Laughlin, professor for Astrophysics and Planetary Science, University of California, Santa Cruz, Cali

Is this going to be another of those really really really REALLY big HUGE earth changing announcements that turn out to be - we found a rock that could have other rocks on it like rocks we find here on earth and it's really close, only like 165 billion light years from us, practically right in our back yards even - kind of announcement?
For once I would like to hear a new clip of something worthwhile and with substance from them.

By the way that 'representative' from Industrial Light and Magic is no small time executive. It is John Knoll co-creator of Photoshop and he's supervised all the latest big budget special effects films from Star Wars prequels to Avatar, Harry Potter...pretty much you name it he's involved.

Thanks for the Information...doesn't make me feel any better. The 188 day thing sounds manipulated to me...if it does turn out to be the case well, then, I won't know what to think.

HA!
Let's make that the ATS theme song!

I see the bad moon arising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earthquakes and lightnin'.
I see bad times today.

[Chorus:]
Don't go around tonight,
Well, it's bound to take your life,
There's a bad moon on the rise.

I hear hurricanes ablowing.
I know the end is coming soon.
I fear rivers over flowing.
I hear the voice of rage and ruin.

[Chorus]
All right!

Hope you got your things together.
Hope you are quite prepared to die.
Looks like we're in for nasty weather.
One eye is taken for an eye.

I am reading that thread now....but call me crazy....A representative from Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm Ltd will join the panel discussion...ok NOW they are just making fun of all of us at our very own expense

I can see this one already....look what we found...courtesy of Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), a division of Lucasfilm Ltd....coming soon to the world theaters near you....AWESOME special effects! wow haha
Just had to tease a bit there.

But on a serious note...with the up turn of EQs and disasters popping around here...kinda makes one curious about any news now. A lot going on in the world, with a ton of "experts" really throwing up their arms and not even trying to debunk or misdirect or make fun of witnesses...just...."WE don't have a flippn' clue what that is...you find out, please let us know. In the meantime....look at the pretty unicorn....over there...yeah that's the one...just keep an eye on that for a while. Yes the one with the overinflated, ego enlarged, celebrity on the back stroking the horn! Yep that's it....

I know...like those crazy lights NASA didn't even bother to speculate on. Even the USGS called last nights earthquake fest 'strange'.
