I've worked with animals as a trainer & tech and I share my home with a cat and a dog. I've noticed a subtle widespread change, and I hope others have too. Although I will help an animal I find in need, I don't go looking for them. Lately, they've been coming to me. It started with a beautiful stray kitten who jumped on my lap one night while I was sitting outside. She was attacked and injured the next day, so after putting up signs & registering her as found, she moved in with me and my pit bull.

A few weeks later, a little terrier scratched at my door in the middle of the night. I went outside and he showed me a cut on his foot. I cleaned and wrapped it, and he went on his way. I saw him the next day being walked across town still wearing the bandage. I spoke with the owner, who was mystified how her dog got to my side of town. Within one week, 3 other lost dogs (at least they weren't injured) came to my lawn. Each of them were returned to their owners, who had been searching for them.

The next week, a cat was screaming outside my window. She looked like a skeleton and appeared wild. Sucker that I am, I brought out some food hoping to coax her & take her to the rescue. Instead, she took a few steps away and kept meowing frantically. I got the idea she wanted me to follow her. She took me a few houses away, meowing all the time. Under a bush were two kittens. One of them was very ill. I grabbed a carrier and took both kittens and the mom to the rescue and they were able to save them all, but the mama cat was feral to everyone but me. I fostered them and helped tame the mama until they could find homes.

It's not all just rescue incidents either. Lately, my own dog and cat have really become best buddies. Sometimes, when the dog is drinking, the cat will tap the dog with her paw, and the dog will move over so they can share the water bowl. They greet each other with 'kisses'. Before, they tolerated each other (barely) and competed for attention and treats. Now, they are friends who cuddle.

When the cat wants your attention, she puts her paw on your face and stares at you intently. It seems like she's trying to say something. If you laugh or are sarcastic she grimaces, and continues to stare. It's a bit unnerving, but not unpleasant.

My dog has always made a sneezing noise when she's really happy, I think it's how she laughs. Recently, my nephews were watching cartoons and she was 'watching' with them. In a few minutes, we all noticed she was laughing at all the right parts. Maybe she was reacting to the boys laughing, but it was uncanny. Her favorite game was tug o'war with a certain toy (which got old for me quickly, but it used to be endlessly exciting to her), but now all she wants to do is play catch. She uses her mouth and her paws to send the ball my way, and her aim is awesome. She's almost 5 and is like a puppy all over again.

I spend a good amount of time with my pets, and I love them, but if you asked me a few weeks ago, I wouldn't have said they were exceptionally intelligent or communicative. These events are odd, but they don't feel eerie or threatening. I wonder if anyone else has noticed a change. Have any strange pets approached you lately? Are your pets acting differently?

I'm interested in hearing what you observe, because I have experienced something similar, and wasn't sure if it is just that I have become more in tune with animals and aware of certain things, or what.

In fact, for me, something happened about ten years ago. I was having all sorts of paranormal type experiences, and a strange sort of spiritual awakening. This was something that was happening to me, as I had not made any attempt to search out such experiences, had no intent on becoming more spiritually aware, and had no interest in things paranormal.

I would be hearing guidance in my head, explaining things to me, showing me things, guiding me through exercises which I didn't know the reason for- until I would do them and find they stimulated or developed some sort of capability! So I did start to trust this guidance.

Anyway, one of the things that happened was a growing communication with animals (and even plants). This continued to develop. I joined a dog training association and observed this with the dogs, I became a horse owner and work training horses for friends. What I don't tell them is that I feel a constant dialogue going on with the animals, and their behavior mirrors what I pick up.

Just as I recieve images and sensual memory seemingly coming from them, it seems they pick up same from me, and can see themselves, and the world "through my eyes". This is rather profound, if you think about it and realize what kind of effect that might have upon their consciousness, their comprehension and their behaviorisms!

With animals that I have weaved a bond of trust and respect with, I don't need to make any verbal or physical cues to communicate- I just need to think, and they pick up the pictures, and will react accordingly. (which makes the lessons in mastering ones thoughts now come in handy! ).

KInda strange, as I write this, I realize that their situation may be something like my own back then- I was recieving input mentally, and needed to learn to trust it through time, and then became rather willing to follow, and this seems to be the same thing they go through. This communication I was receiving opened my mind to expansion, and that might be what happens to them as they connect with mine.

But throughout these "lessons" I recieved, there was a common thread. It had much to do with the earth, environment, life forms here, our base "animal" instincts- nature...... reconnecting with it, understanding it. As part of that same theme, was the concept of femininity rising. The feminine or Yin nature, having been repressed, rising to a high force at this time.

At first, I admit, this seemed rather dubious to me, because like many americans, I had been conditioned with the idea that all that was of our animal nature is evil and dominating instinct is our biggest challenge as humans! Sin comes from following your natural animal nature, and virtue from your intellect and reason dominating the body.

This was before I got a computer and got online and had a glimpse into other ideologies of this sort, people believing in Ascension (in various forms), the rising of the feminine, or Goddess, the soul of the earth....I don't really look into those things because I just want to observe my own experience and not be influenced by those beliefs. But I sometimes need to admit that in a basic way, they do correspond to what I am experiencing!

It feels like the collective subconscious. That our awareness is opening to it, and that connects us to all other life. (which would explain why my experiences included "aliens", which I couldn't see how they would fit into this earth- nature energy!).

If we are all "connecting" our individual consciousness expands and develops, and that might include animals having the same sort of expanding awareness too.

I always wondered if it was me that was becoming more aware or vice versa.

I think its a little bit of both.
Recently I went fishing, It's been 20 years i do so and last year all the loonies seems to had an upgrade in intelligence. They are so bold now when we are fishing, we can almost touch them with our hands, we could whip it with our fishing rods but its kind of a national emblem here lol. Its a very impressive bird also i dont want to harm them but they are starting to be pesky especially when they are trying to steal our fish 2 feet from the boat ABOVE water not below :\ .

Also 2 things i wanna add.
- I swear to god spiders knows when i look at them, I dont know how but they can perceive the slightest move from my head and they'll stop, if i move away they hide so fast, its like they totally see the threat, its disturbing for sucha small creature.

- Theres an episode of river monster on discovery channel about bull sharks, its very interesting, the host Jeremy Wade is a biologist and an extreme fishermen that is interested in animals behavior. I recommend,

I have had a special bond with animals since childhood, one that has brought me much joy. Sometimes, I can interpret an animal's needs, distress, interests and fears. I think this is different. I think there is a change in them, a clarity that wasn't there before. Maybe it's an evolution in consciousness on our parts, but I don't feel different. If it is an opening, how wonderful it will be when we can sense other people.

Perhaps they are indeed more intelligent, however consider the following. Recent changes in your own consciousness have given rise to a new kind of 'open line of communication' between you and the planet, and a certain receptivity that both summons them and renders you more intuitively open to their needs. With this change, it is possible now that how they see you has been altered as well - you are now seen as a bright beacon, one of the few humans that can help their suffering, just as there are a few humans who can see those that have passed on.

That said, I think the whole system is shifting, meaning animals are growing in awareness as are we. Perception is changing, communication, connection, and the rate at which all of the above evolves - it's all being ramped up, amplified, and tightened. Your experience is one more manifestation of this process of unfolding and is very interesting, thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your kind and thoughtful responses. It's time for me to sleep. I'll think about all you've said.

"it seems they pick up same from me, and can see themselves, and the world "through my eyes". "

Since I wrote that, I can't stop thinking about it! The implications.......
What I pick up is that animals have "consciousness", but in most cases, less "self consciousness". It is important to emphasize that difference. A consciousness of exterior, of others, of a global, unindividualized state occurs through sensual input and instinct. there is this sensation (smell, texture, sound) and it is associated with this movement, or this urge, but there is not a line between "I" and these experiences.

But when they see themselves, and the world, through MY eyes, this stimulates an awareness of their separation from these, between these things..... that there is an "I" that is separate from the sensations "I" feel, and separate from the movements "I" Make...... they see their form, as in a mirror, remaining stable and static from one global moment to the next, from experience to the next.

If their minds are growing in awareness or connection with ours (or we are reconnecting to something they have always been connected to) then our self consciousness may stimulate and cause all these other conscious life forms to evolve in consciousness and gain more self consciousness!

People who are not aware of this happening, could be influencing the states of other lifeforms without being aware they are. oh my gosh, I am having a rush of insight and need to get off line or it is just going to keep flooding in nutso writing!

I think it's you who is changing.....more so than your pets. That layer of reality is always there for me. I've had it since a head injury 20 years ago. People around me, even owners of the animals can't perceive what I do. They aren't open to it, usually. My best friend's dog (whom I borrow to walk) told me that she hadn't been to the river (a longer walk that we do together) for 2 weeks last time I walked her. I had been away. I asked the owner when the last time they went to the river was and sure enough...it was 2 weeks. I don't mention psychic insights to the owner because they find the need to intellectually justify and demystify everything....finding some other way I could have guessed or imagined my communications.(( It's just so boring for me to listen to them go on and on and on for 15 minutes!))

How wonderful for you and your animal family!

Keep following the synchronicities.....like that meowing kitty!

About the spider thing, saw one on my stairs the other day, it was just sitting there, it was there for about an hour so I kind of left it. A friend of mine came round and told me I should hoover it as she's stupidly scared of them, so I was like yeah why not, checked how far the little bugger was from the nearest socket, returned with the hoover and he was gone.

Yeah I've noticed this. mostly with my 2 dogs who seem to understand me now I mean not like another human would, but they listen to my commands (they are not trained) and seem to just do what I say. They also seem to communicate with each other alot more, the tapping on the shoulder to share the water bowl has happened a few times now, and Its kinda weird.
I agree with Evasius that this could all be the result of the shift in conciousness I believe to be happening as we speak. Whatever it is I'm digging it.

i hate to say it, but if anything i am noticing an opposite trend... neighbourhood cats falling out of trees, pigeons walking in front of cars and being squashed....
with any luck i have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time
i'll make sure to pay more attention to the animals i meet in the coming days, see what is discernable.

What about talking cats, my latest one quite clearly says " out " when she wants to go out, my old one used to also say " out " amongst other things, my favourite was when he used to say " love you ". Perhaps they do mimick things we say in their own way, but when they use words at the right time, it can be spooky.

The idea that our consciousness is effecting and expanding those of the animals is intriguing, although I hope their innocence isn't destroyed in the process. I love the idea that we are changing and becoming more aware, and I hope to hear more accounts of others noticing and experiencing similar events. Until then, I'll enjoy my strange pets and the visits from the wandering animals seeking a safe haven.
A note about spiders & lizards: Here in FL, they have always seemed extra intelligent to me, so that's not a new development. I have a whole lizard community at my front door, and they are curious and entertaining. Maybe it's territorial, but it seems friendly when they sit on my foot and look up at me. Spiders have always seemed evil smart, and I do my best to stay out of the way.
Thanks to everyone for the posts, this is my first thread so far.

What a great post! Something strange happend to me that goes along with this topic. Some friends of mine and I were ghost hunting at a real old cemetery in the middle of no where and out of the woods near by a kitten comes out meowing, near death and had no hair on top of its head. Now my friends know how much I love pets and always make fun of me because I will walk up to any stray pet and try to pet it! So I take home the kitten and now he follows me around everywhere I go. To me thats strange because usually cats are loners and another weird thing is that it didnt have any fleas!?

I've been waiting for science to investigate this idea. As a Christian it's fundamental to my worldview, probably other religions as well:

Love changes creation.

When we love something, a person, an animal, a tree...etc. it changes over time for the better. With continued affection for dogs, for example, we may see them change over the course of the next ten thousand years. Maybe they'll be talking and doing all sorts of wonderful things.
