peaceably : inclined or disposed to avoid strife or dissension; not argumentative or hostile

He was not argueing with anyone was he?
He was not stopping anyone from doing what they were doing was he?

What does a cop yelling at someone's kid have to do with anything?

Why would a cop knock on anyone's front door to shout about tax issues?

Who said anything about limiting the right to bear arms? Or are you assuming... you know what they say about assuming don't you?

What a truly sad thread. To see this on ATS, where the motto is "deny Ignorance", is pathetic. I would expect better from ATS. Maybe we should change that motto to "Deny The 1st Amendment", as it seems most here want to throw it into the trash.

I disagree with EVERYTHING the WBC has to say but I would fight every last one of you for their right to speak out.

Do Nazis and the KKK have a right to speak? Again, I disagree with them but YES, they have the RIGHT to speak out, just like ANYONE ELSE IN THIS COUNTRY, THE MAN IN THE VIDEO INCLUDED!!!!!!!!

It seems people only want free speech to protect them, not anyone else. Doesn't work that way , folks. I would say the collective intelligence of ATS has gone down drastically with this thread.

Yeah, this is always a tough one. I don't like to interfer with anyones right to speech and acting loud and weird in New York City is nothing new. Its a balancing act. If the speakers words are so incinderary that they may cause a violent reaction then there has got to be some means to interject. I don't like the "heckler's veto" but I also don't like to see folks hospitalized. And you can argue that he was taken in for his own protection.

Like I said its a tough one, always is.

I think what people are missing here is that this man's mission was a 100 percent success.

1. He predicted he would get arrested--and he did.
2. He was brave enough to speak the truth on 9/11, and get his video gone viral
3. He educated the cops, including the "rookie" cop eventually apologizing to him. This was a victory in explaining the psychological mentality of police officers and others who back the official story (one cop even said 9/11 was an inside job).
4. He got a citation but not locked away (as obviously he was able to release the video).

This was a 100 percent success, and I'll add

5. The people who mock and ridicule him on the internet just show how cowardly they are. You could not do something this brave. If you think Muslims did 9/11, Go to Afghanistan and shout in the streets not to kill, see if you can do that. Go into Pakistan during one of their call to prayer or holy months and tell them not to kill in the name of their religion. I'm waiting...

Many people on here think the right to free speech is unlimited. But is not.
The Supreme Court has had several rulings on the matter. And rightfully so.
Pornography
Would you accept pornography ads on tv?
Slander and libel?
Can someone walk with signs in front of your house claiming you solicit prostitutes when you have never done anything of the sort? Without repercussions that is.

All of our rights have limits.
I say this guy was infringing on the family members right to ‘peaceably assemble’.

People often seem to confuse freedom of speech with the right to say whatever you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. In this case the person should be arrested for disturbing public order. Just like when those crazy Westboro Baptists exercise their "freedom of speech" at funerals. Freedom of speech does not equal the right to annoy or insult or people when and wherever you want.

Besides that, the person in the video is either really stupid or lying. There is no scientific paper that proves that "thermite bombs" were found. Either way he is not presenting truth.

Regardless of weather or not I agree with the man in the video, I think the person that approached him first said it best...

"Not today Pal"

That day was about the victims. Not the debate, just the victims. I do not see that as being too much to ask.

You realize this was happening this past Sunday? All those people he is yelling at were people who were there for the 9/11 Memorial event. That was a day for the victims, not the debate.

Do you realize many of the victims families never got back any remains that they could bury? There are no graves to go pay your respects to, or even to go say goodbye. That is what the Ground Zero site is for, and that is what the Memorial Ceremony on Sunday was about. So yes, "Today is not the day Pal". It has been 10 years, what is one more day? What is one more day, when you take a day off and give it to the victim's families?

As far as the rest of your rant, I did not know it was ATS responsibility to change human attitude. I also have no idea what your "all about money" rambling is even about. I'm not getting paid to post here, and many others are not as well. I am sure the site owners make some money from the site with ad revenue and what not, but why shouldn't they? You have any idea how much bandwidth cost and how much this site takes up since we save every single thread ever made?

And yet Westboro Baptist Douchebags were allowed to:

the Westboro Baptist Church which is known for protesting military funerals and using slogans such as "God hates fags," was in full force protesting very loudly during both the singing of the American National Anthem and speeches given by President Obama and Mayor Bloomberg.

www.liveleak.com...

Yup.. There is something EXTREMELY wrong with this country.

Why weren't the douchebags arrested also?

Or is it just a "truther" isn't allowed to protest at GZ on the 10th anniversary of 9/11?

I'd say the answer is pretty damn obvious

From your link

Less than ten minutes afterwards, the protesters were gone. This reporter is unsure if it was the police that removed them or they left of their own accord but the mood of the crowd was substantially improved.

A reporter being unaware if the police removed them is a far cry from actually being arrested. No?

Unless you'd like to point me to the link where it says that the WD (Westboro Douchebags) were indeed arrested?

Well considering the emotions at such an event I would say this is quite dickish. It would be like protesting a funeral or memorial. There is a time and place for this sort of thing.

That is the cost of freedom of speech.
He broke no laws, so should never have been arrested.

I have a feeling they took him away so he didn't get stomped into the ground. They "made" and arrest to appease the crowd. He should have at least waited until 9/12 when they opened up the memorial to the public and done his thing then.

the guy was just plain rude and disrespectful....

surley he could find a better place/way to be heard ... if he still really feels that way ....

obviously, and for good reason, he's in the minority.....

You seriously think he would be heard anywhere else???
This was about trying to wake up those who are asleep and those dont actually visit alternative news sites and forums like this for alternative information.

What I really truely in my heart of hearts want to see is a guy carrying on just the way he did
and then getting arrested just the way he did.

At the same time on a different block

I want to see a guy shouting just the way he did and carrying on about "killing the terrorists who caused all of this"
and "shutting up the truthers".

I want to see a clock running at the bottom of the screen with both videos being displayed at the same time.
Let's see who gets arrested first.

It could be like a game show of sorts.

Would you respect their right to protest (loudly) outside your house at 2:00AM?
OR
Do you agree there are some limits to free speach?

HUH?? How can you even compare that?? There is a big difference between invading the private space of a persons home in middle of night and expressing your views in a PUBLIC place.

You also do not know if the man would have been arrested if he had simply stopped screaming after police made contact.

Once the police made contact with him and he ignored them and continued to scream, at that moment (like it or not) it was disorderly conduct. Had he simply stopped for just a moment, addressed the police, they may very well have come to an understanding and he may have been let go.

The way you react to police in many circumstances will dictate what happens.
