God is the very essence of why your alive and how your heart has another beat and how you have another breath of air. Saying he is not important is truly not a very well thought out statement and i don't know where your trying to go with this.... But it doesn't seem very constructive.

The very "essense" of why offspring die during labour, or soon after. It's the very "essense" of why people in tribes are mauled or attacked by wild animals or why people develop cancer, or other terminal diseases.

You choose to call that essense "GOD". And you may rebut the above with "GOD works in mysterious ways" or some other wishy-washy argument that has to be inferred.

A faith is (definition):
"strong or unshakeable belief in something, esp without proof or evidence"]

whereas belief in general is what you describe above. I.e. 'faith' is a special variety of 'belief'.

Quote: ["Still doesnt change the fact that the words contained with in the bible are true."]

Why? Gen. 1 and 2 are bosh, seen from a contemporary knowledge perspective.

Quote: ["Question is, can you prove your assumption that the bible is a "mythical" book using reasonable truths."]

A lot of the bible is concerning events of mythological character, such as when paranormal or supernatural phenomena are present. In other words defined as a collection of myths.

I seem to recall a recommendation of becoming acquainted with basic logic. So I hope, you're not putting your head in the lion's mouth by requesting me to 'disprove' your theistic assumptions.

To have" faith" in something in its barest minimal form is to basicly have 'assurance through reason' that something is ether true or not true. Weather you "believe" that truth is totally irrelevant. Still doesnt change the fact that the words contained with in the bible are true. Question is, can you prove your assumption that the bible is a "mythical" book using reasonable truths. I think not. Try me.

Your posting seem to suffer a bit. You posted this on the last page also, and I have answered it. And then you deleted it and put it here instead. Any special reason?

Gallileo had "faith" in his scientific model of the solar system, (despite persecution from the religious fanatics), his theory was based on study, testing, observation, And I'm sure, if those percuting had evidence to the contrary; Gailleo would have been happy, even willing to concede in his "mistake".

There is a clear cut different between these types of faith. Gallileo had a reason, empirical reasoning behind his "faith". Christians had nothing but wishy-washy philiosophy and 0 evidence to back up their extraordinary claims.

Religious faith involves accepting a theory before having evidence, religious faith is often, and historically rather stubborn.
