USGS is blank, either a hoaxer trying to get people to panic, or an error of some sort, be it digital or physical.

At a magnitude of 36, that's insanely stronger than the impact that killed the dinosaurs.

Just a earth fart and that's all. Seriously yea its just a glitch because if it was real we would see massive walls of water heading to every corner of the earth.

Ummm....seems more like they edited the code on the page to enlarge the circle and change
the magnitude of the quake most likely already in that area, or made that part up too.
I could easily make an 1000 magnitude quake where there are no fault zones and split
the planet in half ; )

Too lazy to make the big orangey dot red, but you get the picture.
If more than one person actually saw this big red dot then it was a glitch.
If it was only the one person, then most likely their browser didn't load the page
properly and a simple refresh would fix the problem.

Nope... no wave action there on NDBC cept the buoy near the 6+ quake N/W of Washington.

Definitely a hoax because i have been watching that same site all day today and never saw that. And I frequent it ten or more times a day since the huge Japan earthquake. And the huge red circles don't even look like their own graphic or at least their's skewed in MSPaint.. And note that the circle on the map is actually two on top of each other denoting two earth quakes of the same magnitude happened roughly at the same time recently in the same place which isn't rare. But what is completely out of sorts is in the information section the same two circles are on top of each other. Like a copy paste jobber.

I wouldn't really have commented on this but I use quakes.globalincidentmap.com... like religiously lately so. There is my schpeel,

i seen it this morning, i was sleeping the wife comes running in the bedroom and says you are not going to believe this if you dont see it your self.out to the livingroom i go sit down look at the screen(which she had usgs up)and the biggest damn dot i've ever seen.it was about 11:30ish and was only there for about 10-15 min i dont remember the mag it was 36-38 something like that i did not catch the date but i did think the depth was wierd -122.something i think . but it was there . ps i have one screen constantly open to usgs, i know it's not perfect but the easiest to take quick look's at
